    I’m 6’ tall and my wife is 5’7”. The instrument cluster in front of the steering wheel isn’t an issue with either of us. The seat and steering wheel adjustments will allow for a clear view.
    The radio control knob isn’t an issue unless you want it to be an issue. Controls are on the steering wheel and it isn’t a gymnastics stretch to reach to turn it off if needed.

    I have a 2020 Prius AWD at home. Both last year and this year I have rented a Prius to drive on vacation.
    I could not leave the rental lot without looking up things in the manuals. Releasing the parking brake was the first problem. Then I wanted to use my cell phone navigation app and see it on the car screen. Fine, until I turned the headlights on and the screen brightness black. I am not sure if I have figured out to keep it bright at night with the headlights on.
    The manuals are not very helpful, so I am happy that I found this video to help me.

    Great video! I am 6 foot and have no issues with the steering wheel I can see over it at max height of the steering adjustment. My 5'2" daughter has no issue with it you have adjust the seat a little up or down and its fine. This car is amazing I have the LTD. The volume knob is for the passenger from my pov. Press in the volume on the steering wheel to pause music. The stash spot is awesome. Last thing, my phone tends to get really hot on the charger. Its weird. You have to have a MagSafe case for consistent wireless charging. My non MagSafe cases don't consistently charge.

    It's a Japanese car - and made for an international market. Just a few percent of people are over 6' so you get squeezed. On the other hand, you're more likely to be a senior executive. At 5'-5" (I'm 72) I have to put the seat pretty high up to see the speedometer, but It's very comfortable for me.

    I have a 2024 Prius XLE. Im 6'2'' and have the seat most all the way up high and I have no problem with head room. If I try I can hit my head on the sky light roof but Ive never done that in normal driving. I also dont have any issue seeing the behind the display behind the steering wheel. My only complaint with this car is the stereo and speakers ( that I have already replaced) My best mileage has been 74 and its normally over 64 MPG. The worse mileage is a short trip around the corner. Ive never put more than 6 gallons of gas a week and I drive 19 miles each way to work each day.

    I just got my new 2024 limited edition today and I love it but a couple of things that I’m a little concerned about- if I take my foot off the gas, but I haven’t put it on the brakes yet it Brakes sorted on its own, even though I might not be ready for that to happen Like I’m prepared for it to drift a little bit more like with my old PriusI want it to slow down, but it forcibly slows down more than I want it to. Also, if I’m trying to take a left or right, even though it’s not a lane change necessarily it seems like it wants to pull me back into the lane, do I always have to use the blinker? If anybody can help me with these two things I’d be very appreciative.

    • @MikesCarInfo
      @MikesCarInfo  3 місяці тому

      The braking is called "regen braking". make sure you are in "Drive" represented by a D on the shifter and not B for "Braking". Learn how to use the shifter seen here 14:25
      Regarding lane changes yes it will temporarily disable Lane Keep Assist when you turn on your blinker. You can turn off Lane Keeping by using the button on the steering wheel seen at 2:00

    • @kevinsargent6282
      @kevinsargent6282 3 місяці тому +1

      Sounds like you have Predictive Drive Assist (PDA) turned on (the top right icon in the cluster of four inside the speedometer, looks like a car from overhead with parenthesis around it), which will tell the car to use sensors to regen brake at the right time to maximize efficiency. It can be a strange feeling when you first try it but it is for efficiency and you get used to it; it can also be disabled in the menu if you don’t like it (and is usually OFF upon delivery, surely because it can feel “strange” the first time…)
      Regarding the lane change, yes, the car is designed to protect against accidental drifting, which it will think you are doing with a soft lane change without a blinker. You can press the top right button of the steering wheel to turn it off temporarily, or I think you can turn it off more permanently in the menu, or of course, just use your blinker. 😉
      Most of the safety features can be turned off or tweaked in the menu for sensitivity. Personally, I leave everything on and have no issue and they do not nag me, which I guess suggests I am a responsible and courteous driver, lol. 😉😏

    Just bought xse. Am not pleased being forced to get a monthly subscription to use the navigation feature. Can you show the google map option? Right now, the only directional screens I see are so small that I can’t read street names, even if zooming in. Had a 2019 prime with a great screen. Could also keep my addresses. You can’t use names for your favorite destinations, so I can’t scroll thru an alpha address book to select a destination. Not designed for the customer in my opinion. And a question: on the Prius xse, is there the option to use the gas engine even if fully charged? I understand that gas shouldn’t sit in the tank too long. Thanks for any help. Your video much appreciated.

      @MikesCarInfo I just haven't found someone in real life to say outside of the internet. And quite honestly. I think it's just mostly fabricated. Because you guys are looking at it through your camera. Screens i'm a photographer. I know everything about cameras. And the perspective through a camera lens is not the perspective through. Your eyes, so I don't know if that's what you guys are complaining about, but you do know the seat moves up and down as well, right. Not just forwards and back. I appreciate all little tidbits. And nick back on the new design thank you

    • @MikesCarInfo
      @MikesCarInfo  Місяць тому

      @@djjorge87 No, it is not fabricated. I am not a liar. I drove the car for a week and it was a problem the whole time. Same with the BZ4x and Solterra with the round wheel. Same design. They changed the Solterra to a squared-off wheel in 2024 and it solved the problem. Raising the seat high enough to see over the steering wheel causes other problems for me and others. Technology should conform to humans NOT humans contort themselves to adapt to a poor design.
      Another problem with this design that I mentioned in other videos is the gauge cluster actually impedes visibility in front of the driver because it is up so high that it covers some of the windshield.

    This was by far the worst car buying experience of muy life. My sixth toyota and I thoroughly enjoyed everyone of them from the purchase, repairs and sell state. The current manager at Stevinson Toyota couldn't figure out the price of the vehicle . This took a couple of hours and I was utterly frustrated from the experience. People were rude and dis respectful and I would never buy another car there. I was very excited about buying a car that would be real easy on the environment. I spent at least 4 hours today withh apple and they say it wasn't there problem. Toyota doesn't want to deal with it and the whole situation truly sucks.

  • @MikeAgranoff

    The way the steering wheel obscures the display in front is unforgiveable. How did that ever get past the reviewers who OKed the release of the design? Didn't anyone actually sit in the driver's seat and drive the damn car? It was the very first thing I noticed after I picked it up from the dealer and started to drive it away. I was able to get around it somewhat by raising the seat as high as it would go. I'm tall, but I still have enough headroom in that position. It does make ingress and egress a little clumsier, though.

    • @colepuckett2657

    • @MikeAgranoff
      @MikeAgranoff 4 місяці тому

      Yes, I bought it. But it was the 2nd thing I noticed when I sat in it at the showroom when I was still shopping. (The first thing was the very limited rear visibility through the inside rearview mirror.
      By the way, I take issue with one thing you mentioned in the video. You said that you preferred the increased regenerative braking when you engaged the "B" gear on the shifter, and tended to leave it in B all the time. (Unless I misheard you.) That's no good. The reason that B gives a stronger regenerative braking is that it drops the variable transmission into low gear, so the engine speeds up and provides more drag to the wheels. It would be like driving a stickshift around in 2nd all the time, and would significantly reduce your gas mileage.

    EV noise? That’s an oxymoron. This new Prius design is sporty so if you’ve driven sports cars before e.g. Mustang, Corvette, etc you know the tight cabin, engine growl and road feel are part of the sports car experience. I drove a Mustang GT for just a week. Couldnt believe it had a backseat. If you want a smooth quiet ride, and living room windows you have to get a large sedan. My 2024 LTD AWD is loaded. I downloaded 3 manuals from the website in advance and read all of them. As someone noted, you can put music on hold. Not every function on the media display requires a cell phone. There are many other features, like a backseat reminder, brake hold button, road signs display, alert when you’re over the speed limit, suggest you take a break (because you’re drifting- no kidding).
