A day will come when Anne is so in demand that she won’t have time to do these amazing and instructive videos 😢 That will be sad (for us). I’m eternally grateful for her teaching and inspiration these last several years.
Anne, your channel is pure GOLD! Thank you for the insights of this musical wonderland! You are a lucky person as you can do what you are passionate about, and we are lucky, too because you are willing to share with us!❤
Beautiful score, great conducting. The emotion was conveyed so well to those amazing musicians. It's amazing Anne has the time to make these instructional/informational videos. Each one is a real gem.
I adore the fact that you let the lower and middle registers of the instruments shine. It's very "earthy" and "woodsy". What a wonderful choice. Thank you for this and all that you do for us.
Yes, I really wanted the score to sound more "grounded". 🙂 We even consciously had more cello players than we would normally would so we could have all that low warm divisi.
Dear Anne-Kathrin, thank you for the wonderful music for "my" film, it is terrific!!! I hope we will meet someday, maybe in Germany? Liebe Grüße, Katja
Anne-Kathrin, I would love to see you be the first woman to do a James Bond movie. You've got a real knack for memorable thematic ideas; it's a lost art!
This is more than just an amazing masterpiece, I have no words for it... I can just say that I'm absoutely in love with this whole soundtrack! 🤩😍😻 The movie is amazing and I am looking forward to hearing the great sounds from the second and the third movie as well.🥰 Hopefully there will also be a "Woodwalkers - Opening Theme" in the next movies. This would be fantastic because every great movie should have an opening theme. 🤩🍀🎬
Nice to see that quite the regular team has assembled by now (Andrés, David). Also great to see the contrast between the unassuming outside versus the... absolutely NOT unassuming inside of Synchron Studios. Thanks Anne!
Congrats on the score it sounds great. That's a cool overdub technique you used blending mutes and sul tasto on top of the master recordings, defiantly has that large string section sound. The cello solo sounded awesome too and the scoring stage in Vienna 😍 The score video's remind me of early Bear Mc Creary making the music videos, it's cool to see you make something so in depth about your work
Yes, the overdub technique was the idea of our recording engineer, Bernd Mazagg. It turned out very nicely! I started making these videos for myself as well at this point - after a few years it's so easy to forget so I like documenting different projects and journeys, and the people who were involved in it.
Great video and beautiful music ... being a bigband leader for 20 years and making music and record my own stuff for decades I know how much passion and work is needed to make such projects come to life ... kudos :)
As one who in my small way went through many of the processes from composition to recording to final mix for many years .. this and all the other videos is a wondrous road to be able to follow through Anne’s eyes. A 21st century phenomenon of musical expression. Thank you so much for being who you are, and sharing it with us.❤
Keep rocking, composing, developing emotions like you do, big thanks!
Wow, glad I checked out your channel after you did this. Such a beautiful use of real instruments and modern tools. The horns and strings blend as one.
WOW Anne, beautiful score...just perfect...beautifully well done. I'm in love with your work. I say this because you're music is very special to me and I love how you compose and I can feel your passion in your creation. I just love your work entirely. I've been following your work for quite some time now and I enjoy and learn so much from your videos. It is a dream of mine to become a composer like you. You're quite the inspiration and motivation to me. I even watch the movies you compose the score to because I study how you create music to scenes in the film. I can't wait to take my niece to watch Woodwalkers as I love these types of films. Thank you so much for making this video to share with us all. Much love from Canada.
Stunning compositions, well done Anne-Kathrin! I'm also touched by just how beautiful the orchestra is captured in the Synchron Stage: the playing and tone are just fantastic and very atmospheric.
Beautiful!! I already know there's gonna be some young composer in 10-15 years who will mention this score as what inspired them to get involved with music.
I am not young and it's not in 10-15 years 😂 but I am already inspired. I love these videos so much, hoping that I can take something with me! I work in IT but when I watch these videos, I know I have the wrong job if it were up to me to decide. The problem is, I fear I don't have the talent.
Wow, another great arrangement from you, sounds so beautiful, lush strings, great brass! It's interesting how you put it all together. I'm looking forward to the film and hopefully your upcoming award!
I had goosebumps during this video! I was very touched to see how fitting, epic and emotional the music for the film adaptation of my favorite book series is. Thank you for this brilliant masterpiece! It fits perfectly into the Woodwalkers universe. When will the album be released?
Thank you so much for this BTM video, Anne! It's great that you've teamed up with David Kudell again. The music sounds absolutely gorgeous and is incredibly touching. Congratulations! Great teamwork overall! ❤
I love beeing allowed to follow and learning from you. So much to find out and learn. I heard that you wanted to use a number of ethnic instruments: in my mind I heard something like Dune or Lion King. But then I suddenly understood - this is film music, supposed to help the story. And the story is showing a more or less normal young person, not something from a scifi movie. And then music is sort of common as well (sort of genre, but very beautiful). Not taking away from the pictures and the story, only (not so only) adding feeling and movement. And it really works! You must be a total pleasure to work with for the director/producers!
Amazing! You have such a strong personality in your music! It might not be possible as it is a lot of work but it would be amazing to have a video from your work in your studio to the recording with the orchestra! I really want to watch the movie now!😅
Question: Did you approach any of your themes or ideas differently knowing that this is the first film in a trilogy and that youd be developing things across two more films in the future?
Not necessarily, I just make sure there's enough material I can develop over time. Since I don't know which characters and places return, it's hard to plan ahead. But at the same time, I did spend quite a lot of time on the main character's theme and the school theme since I know for sure we'll have those again.
I'm nowhere near the point in my career where I'll get to do a live recording of my scores but seeing how well prepared Anne is and how much everyone enjoyed working with her makes me nervous that whenever I do get that chance I'm gonna screw it up
I wouldn't worry too much about it. There are many steps in between that will prepare you and as long as you get a professional team, you'll be fine. 🙂
Thanks for the insight into the project. I wondered if you ever play part of the mock up to the musicians to give a feel for the work or never do that as it can be counterproductive. Or of no value when you have professional studio musicians, and just eats up studio time.
We rarely do, although they can hear the other instruments in their headphones if they want. We've only ever played back the mockup if there was some rhythmic confusion or anything else that was unclear.
If there are differences, then my orchestrator and I would usually discuss that upfront so there are no surprises. We definitely make allowances for the solo parts though, because I always rather want to hear the musician's interpretation over my own. 🙂
it was a great pleasure to play on this recording. really great music!🙌
Wonderful performance! Loved every second of it! ❤
A day will come when Anne is so in demand that she won’t have time to do these amazing and instructive videos 😢 That will be sad (for us). I’m eternally grateful for her teaching and inspiration these last several years.
Ah no worries, when that time comes hopefully I'm rich enough to hire help for these videos. 😅

This soundtrack is just magical it’s really more than just a masterpiece 😢❤

I hope we can meet too! Thank you for the beautiful stories - without those, the movie and music wouldn't exist at all! ❤

I love these types of behind the scene videos, so inspirational. please more!
Anne-Kathrin, I would love to see you be the first woman to do a James Bond movie. You've got a real knack for memorable thematic ideas; it's a lost art!
@@jondellar I second that!
The old fashioned portamento around 6:30 was right out of the original Bond flicks. She could do worse than to emulate the great John Barry. 🙂

Album added to my regular film score playlist. Love it!

Stunning work Anne!
Wonderful job, young lady. I can see the day when you receive an Academy award. I'm serious.....
This seems to be a fantastic soundtrack which is a reason for me to watch this film.

Impressed...like always.❤
Beautiful work Anne best wishes Phil from the shire UK ❤👍
This was a wonderful evocative score. I was just gone after twenty seconds.
Amazing, thanks for this.
Incredible video! Thanks for sharing your creative process Anne :)
Thank you!
That orchestra sounds gorgeous.
What lovely music. So lush.
Beautiful. Thank you! 🙂
❤ knowing how much work it took. Congratulations!
Congratulations to this Job. I know the author of the Woodwalker Series, she can be very happy to have gotten you as her soundtrack magician.

Great Job! Nice melodies and harmonies 👍
This is just a simply beautiful video 🤩

Ich hör'n Cello, ich bin komplett verliebt.

Amazing! You have such a strong personality in your music!
It might not be possible as it is a lot of work but it would be amazing to have a video from your work in your studio to the recording with the orchestra!
I really want to watch the movie now!😅
I could certainly make a video like that. 🙂
Fantastic Video! Thank you!
Dear Anne hi, This work it is a Masterpiece, You really touch me very deep
wow... wonderful.
Good stuff, keep on keeping on
I haven't heard of Woodwalkers, but I still watched this video the whole way through. Your approach to music continues to amaze me. :)
👍👍👍
Congrats! Looks like a really good film on top of a terrific score. 👍🎶
A very well-produced and content-rich short documentary.
so much emotion!
Excellent Anne
This is a masterpice project. Well done Anne
You must feel extremely proud and fulfilled after such a session as this. Magnificent.
Again, kudos!
Wow!
Nothing translates better than the combined human experience.
You are on the path to success !

Wow, what a great video and awesome score, Anne! :) Did you enjoy Vienna?
I wonder how many of the big composers today also conduct (and conduct well).
Me gustan los movimientos de las cuerdas, como olas en el mar.
Do you make allowances in the mockup for differences between live and midi instruments or is space left for that at recording stage?
If there are differences, then my orchestrator and I would usually discuss that upfront so there are no surprises. We definitely make allowances for the solo parts though, because I always rather want to hear the musician's interpretation over my own. 🙂
So was brass recorded somewhere else? Is there a second video coming?
Great! All other instruments? Was it VSL or another library?
Liebe Anne, wie fühlt es sich an am Dirigentenpult zu stehen?
Good lord Ann, you are beautiful… (hope you don’t mind) Great music as usual!
So, it looks like you tracked only the strings, and everything else was virtual? You can’t really tell that from the sound. It’s delicious.
After a movie like that, you should appear on the Forbes 400 list. Correct?
This looks like SKYWLAKER studios - but BETTER!!
I liked that we got to hear a small bit of you sprechen Deutsch
nice lips
