Why don't other cars put the torque converter behind the prop shaft then? Is there something unique to the Gemera that makes it the only one capable of this layout?
Propeller shaft is required when engine is farther than the wheels to be driven. Thats why front engine rear wheel drive cars have propeller shaft. In such setup it is difficult to put transmission at rear, because transmission will consume more useful space than what a smaller diameter propeller would save. Hence not generally used. Gemera has rear mid engine front wheel drive which is not generally seen in cars and it also doesn't have transmission, that's why it was possible to do such arrangement in it.
