Great video and animation. When you see a Munro comparison of Tesla vs Mustang, you really get a sense of how much further ahead are the engineers at Tesla. Why is this true?
The answer is that Tesla is a company run by engineers, while other automakers are companies run (into the ground) by accountants, MBAs, and HR twits.

Amazing thank you! No one else has come close to explaining what this hallowed octovalve actually does and I've been searching for months. Thank you UA-cam algorithm for randomly showing me this and thank you Untangle Club for putting so much work into this explanation.
(PS. Your English is amazing but your accent is very hard to understand. This isn't a criticism, just something I hope helps you because, as someone learning a foreign language, I appreciate it when people help me out with comments like this)

    Needs to improve clarity :
    1) Having both refrigerant AND coolant is confusing, they should be labelled on the image.
    2) Refrigerant should be dotted too in the chiller and LCC.
    3) Dead end paths clutter the view, they should render differently (dimmed ?).
    4) Flow direction is vital and should be rendered.

Nice and clear explains. It’s better to start with compressor instead of chiller since that is where everything starts. Curious how valve leakage is tackled by 8 port valve. Are 15 modes really necessary? certain modes sound more likely a redundancy like waste heat recovery from battery at ambient below -10C

Seems that having both cabin cooler+heater on might serve task of reducing water content from the air - effectively in+built dryer so windows do not cover with frost.

Great video. Really shows the genius behind the system. Those Tesla engineers are the cream-of-the-crop. There is no way old auto companies will gain enough control of their suppliers to allow this level of systems integrated thermal management. You must be vertically integrated to do something like this.

Really interesting and well explained. But I'm confused why was the chiller able to remove heat from the atm air in condition 1 (atm is > -10C), but wasn't able to do the same in condition 2 (atm is still > -10C)? (EDIT: Its a typo in condition 2 page at 7:58. Should be showing < -10C).

From the Battery Day event they said they want to replace residential gas heating with batteries. I think they may make something like a combined Powerwall 3 backup house battery + HVAC + Hot Water Tank to recycle all the waste cold/hot energy and even the water condensate Elon mentioned on Twitter "Could maybe tap the condensation for water too. Seems odd that HVAC systems make pure, fresh water & just dump it on the ground."

  • @rubenayla
    @rubenayla 2 місяці тому

why do you need a condenser and evaporator in the cabin as different devices? Couldn't you use the same one having both functions depending on the temperature of the coolant?

    Good job.
I can’t stand the word “heat pump” it’s all just the refrigeration process. A heat pump is just an AC with a 4 way valve.
They called it “heat pump” because they needed to advertise the word “heat” in it.

I laugh at these over engineered over complicated computer /tracking devices on wheels, what mechanic would work on this? you Need Airconditioning experts , high voltage AC/DC electrical engineer, An I.T. expert and god knows who else. It's a joke, a totally disposable car that will never even last long enough to ever be called a classic historic vehicle. This is because they won't be worth replacing the battery. Which you would need electrical fitters and HI voltage AC/DC engineers to do. Till charging times and battery technology changes they are not a viable option for road trips of transportation of goods.
