    Finally, a home that looks like a 'home' rather than a museum.

    A proper Family HOME! The use of timber and with a look to the future and how the space will mature. The gardens, the vines. Somewhere where nothing is too precious or overdone. Simple, clean, strong and full of quality and fun! Love it! Thank you for sharing. How a family home should be.

    Finally I can say it: this is my favourite content of The Local Project! I recognise what the true values of a home are: humble, essential and functional. For me, this is true luxury: having everything without having to prove anything. I would like more examples of this type... Extra-expensive, glitzy houses are anachronistic, they always have been. For me, this is the way to design a house based on people's real needs and not on their vices that are nothing but abuses of power, where they often end up consuming land.

      Well said. There is a particular very famous interior designer in my hometown who design for the super rich to show prove how rich they are, and I think his projects are horrendous.

      @metabalcanico Рік тому

      Yeah right, from what I'm getting from the channel, the true values of a home on local project is white, Anglo, privileged (humbleness is well concealed with other factors).

    The cinematography in these recent episodes seem to focus less on the architecture and more so on making these into aesthetic music videos. Macro shots on plants and products not unique to this house takes away from the story you are trying to tell.

      I do agree but at the same time I like this cinematic style. I think architectural audience here would be content if there would be few drawing plans showed.

    • @thedudeabides1
      @thedudeabides1 Рік тому +12

      Sadly I kind of agree. Usually these had a more calm and focused vibe that kind of gave the experience of how it would feel like to live here. I dont really get this experience in recent videos. Maybe the music and no ambient sound is the reason.

      Look closely. It is a feeling that is being expressed in the filming. There is nothing generic here. We are invited to get an overview of each structure and project and then explore further if we choose. Remember these are architecturally detailed spaces that have taken time to draft and bring into fruition. We are being introduced to some of the finest architects and firms. What more can one ask for.

    • @thedudeabides1
      @thedudeabides1 Рік тому +8

      @@Bluewaterpinessantarosabeach I get your point. But then I have to say I dont feel like this video really gives a good impression of how this space feels like to be in, with no nature sound, no sense of calm, but only upbeat music. In previous videos I got much more of a sense of how the spaces felt.

    Hi... I am an artist / designer from India , and I absolutely agree with the owner / architect , that a space designed should have a sense of ease...as well as ease of movement. And the design of the house totally reflects this. I also liked the consistent use of natural materials like timber throughout the entire house , and the very intelligent use of any given space fo multiple purposes... BRAVO ❗👏👏

    What a beautiful home. I absolutely love this. I would echo some other comments I've seen about the video itself: it's beautifully shot no doubt, but I think it needs less emphasis on the aspirational/lifestyle shots and more on the nitty gritty of the building itself. Let us see more of the rooms and the floorplan. Show us how one room flows into the next and use angles that give a better idea of the dimensions of the place.

    Im sure it does well for the algorithm, but i would honestly like a little more architecture and little less music video from this channel. I have virtually no idea how this house is laid out or how the spaces interact with each other, instead the time was spent editing chairs in and out of frame and showing his childrens Lego.

    I'm kind of annoyed by people making reference to the tribe that settled the land before them. Like, if one of the descendants rings this guy's doorbell and says "I want the land back", is he just going to be like "All right, let me get the kids" and leave? No. He might invite the guy in for a cup of coffee, maybe offer him a few bucks, but in the end, this guy will not give the land back, and, if pressed, he will be every bit as nasty as his colonizing forebears. So, why bother?

    • @PostImperfect
      @PostImperfect Рік тому +3

      Maybe it's to recognise that the land was stolen? And we pay our respects to those dispossessed in past by naming their land. It's not "woke": it's respect

    • @katana2k
      @katana2k Рік тому

      @@PostImperfect the guy talking about “woke” is on some other shit from what I said. It’s all well and good to recognize that the land was stolen, but now the guy in the video talking about tribal land is the owner on the piece of paper. He can recognize that it was stolen, but is he going to do anything about it? Is he going to give it back? No. Is he going to pay reparations? No. If there were going to be any claim made against the land by the descendants of its rightful owner, he would fight it. If these land acknowledgements were legally binding, these guys wouldn’t make a peep. I would like to see the wrongs righted, but these are empty gestures.

  • @mr2981

    WTF is all this "it's on the land of" stuff. No, it's not, any more than it's on the land of the people who used to own the section you built the house on.
