Atlantic Records made the right choice. Brandy filled the void of the wholesome black teenage girl.

Brandy got sued early because her mom was undermining her mgmt. They had secured her a deal and Brandy's mother found another deal and it got ugly

Excuse me but Brandy was on TV way before she got a record deal! Also her parents ran an accapella gospel group choir which she sang solo's in.
Brandy didnt need to sing, "What car do you drive, Tell me your name?" which was the same beat as LL Cool J and Total.
I was alive. Brandy was wholesome and sold records in London just like Aaliyah. Lots of these acts were only available on import and where not in the mainstream charts like Brandy.
Brandy has always been a stong talent winning Lady of Soul Awards from the rip!
Shades were ok! But Silvia Rhone has already signed Adina Howard, En Vouge, Missy and other big international R&B artists who were singing popular songs over amazing beats. At there time in the industry they just didnt hit as strong as Destinys Child who sung and did full on dance moves.

Thats false. Brandy had her record deal first. While recording she got in Thea TV show. Her appearances on Thea started in 93, and her first album dropped in 94. But that show only did a year or two. MOESHA did not come out until 96

@@frankwright1571 En Vogue never broke up. They are still together to this day and still performing. Dawn originally left in 1997 and the group has carried on in various forms and lineups since, with and without all original members. The comment about them retiring in 1993 still doesn’t hold weight because the original lineup was intact until 1997. And I never said anyone was “throwing shade”, just that she made a seemingly incorrect statement.

I think you are missing the point that they were making, the group were having issues so the label felt like there may be a void that this new group could fill.
