Great video, I didn't pay attention to one important thing - here's a tip to learn from my mistake. I wanted to center the switch and jack. I didn't double check if the internal parts of the jack and switch would run into each other before I drilled the holes. The centered holes on my enclosure will not work, as the jack and switch don't fit, and now I will have to get a little extra crafty... So, the video's off-centered holes are a good idea!
Cool and simple build. I wonder if it would be possible to make a multi pedal switching bar like this, with multiple switchable send/return loops. That could be pretty awesome I think.
im doing somethibg similar for a gcse engineering project where i want to turn a pedal on/off from an extra button or a switch in a guitar. i know nothing about guitar modding or much about electronics but seeing the pedal change the amps sound absolutely blew my mind because ive been trying to find something like that for ages now as my deadline will be coming up. does anyone know however what i need to do or how i would actually make this work? because im still really confused and kinda dumb.
I think you can do this without the jack. Just solder the hot and the ground wires of a guitar cable with a jack plug to the logs of the foot-switch. Put some rubber ring around the hole in the enclosure where you have placed the jack - for cosmetics and to avoid the metal cutting the cable - and you're done. Easier to fit in the pedal board (no jack plug) and cheaper (if possible). Can you confirm?
Hi. Thans for your answer. What you did mention is my original plan. The only thing is that I found that my amp uses a DOUBLE DPDT SWITCH, two switches to change channel, and both are wired in the circuit board. Nice video! So, if I wanted a 2 button footswitch with two independent connections for a Marshall DSL amp (one for channel switching and one for the reverb on/off), I would simply repeat this is a biiger box correct? And if we wanted to add an LED for both switches?
Nice! I was trying to figure out how this works so i can make a pedal that will switch the amp channel and shut off the effects loop simultaneously. Anyone already take on a project like that? This is very helpful thanks.
Will this work with an Orange Dark Terror? I tried my friend's 2-button Peavey footswitch and neither switch did anything on my amp but it only has two channels and his has three.
I plugged nux nmp footswitch into my blackstar id core amp. It switches between two channels of my amp. Those are not the channels I want it to switch between. How can I get the footswitch to switch between the channels I want?
Do you know how pop noises can be avoided with custom DIY footswitches? im having some pop noises when engaging with my DIY footswitch and Mesa Dual Rec. Maybe adding a capacitor/resistor? Thanks!.
hey Nice Video, do you think I can add an extra jack for my Hunting Mids pedal? and do the same thing as you did? I want it to be more like a Fortin 33 pedal with an additional features.
Anyone know if this also works with the fender Frontman 212R? I have it at our rehearsal space and was hoping to get this made before I get to the amp :D.
Would this be considered a momentary switch pedal? I'm asking because I'm trying to avoid paying for a "gigrig bank manager" and I want to make the switch myself. I need to create a momentary switch to transition between banks on my "gigrig g2". Any help on this matter would be extremely appreciated
No need for grounding? I have a strange problem with my on or off footswicht i use to turn on or off on my reverb on my mesa fillmore head..when the reverb is on..it buzzes that gets louder with the reverb knob but when i touch the metal part of the cable jack..the buzz completely disappeared..zero buzz..and I just found out that when I put the foot pedal inside the head on top of the reverb tank..the buzz completely disappears.. i think it has to do with the input jack ground..could it be the washer that do not make contact with the footswitch enclosure..it has nothing to do with the reverv tank..it is fine..I am using a trs jack cable...any clue?
Nevermind..i found the problem..opened up the unit..i need to connect another cable from the opposite tab of the black cable to the last tab of the latch switch..no more buzz...0...
good day.. please help me..technician says that i need to purchase the switch ic which is: 'NJM2120D jrc" and no one in my country selling it.. hope i have an alternative for this.. please help
Hey, I have a question. Does this footswitch work with a digital amp like the Fender mustang lt40s? I Would really appreciate for someone to respond cause im on kinda of a loss
Hi there is any way to add a switching jack to my amp? To change channels. I have a joyo 20 watts amp clean and distortion switch but no jack to change with like a foot switch. Any ideas? thnx. Great video
You would have to open the amp up and solder wire extensions from the internal switch. Probably could be done but I wouldn't know for sure without looking at it.
Good video. I am trying to add similar pedal to my amp, but my amp does not have a jack for control pedals, It has a selector switch on the panel instead. The switch is soldered directly to the circuit board, so I need to solder my cables directly on the circuit board. My amp is the “G20 Acoustic”. Any recommendations? SJ
Will this work with a Marshall dsl 100h, it has a footswitch with three connections on the jack sleeve tip and another. Or is there an alternative wiring for that?
I think those work by the switch connecting tip to sleeve for one switch, and ring to sleeve for the other. This similar but you would need to switches and a stereo jack. I haven't made one personally though so I can't say for sure.
Hi ,I have a broken joyo dist pedal and I just wanna use its switches for exact purpose like this ,I couldn't figured poles of the switch ,how to find out man ,plz help
Draw the layout of the connectors. Then with a multimeter set to continuity mode test which terminals are connected to each other in each of the switches positions. Fill in your layout and then use the correct terminals for your new switch.

The Link provided for Mammoth leads to a dead end; saying they're no longer taking orders due to acquisition. Any other providers out there for such a small enclosure? All I'm finding are longer rectangular enclosures.
This pedal goes directly to the special footswitch input of the amp. The guitar also goes directly to the amp and you connect it to the regular input. Google Fender Champion 40, which is the amp I have, and there you can see both inputs, fs input and guitar input.
Unfortunately the guitar pedal company that I used to buy powder coated enclosures from went out of business. You can buy this little Hammond enclosure but you have to paint it yourself.

just today was building tap button like that, and guess what? i did two central holes and now cant put them together... :D
they do actually fit, if you mount the 2 items on the outside, instead of the inside.
Awesome video, tried it out for my JHS morning glory as the red remote, works perfectly. Thanks!
Wish you could have done a LED light with it!
You could do that, but it would require a battery which would just be a pain

Great video! Very helpful and clear. 1 tip, just mention that you have a link in the description for the parts to buy.
Thanks! It worked perfectly for my Orange 35rt.
I built one today using your video. Thanks. This was way cheaper then a red box from jhs and its the exact same thing.
The best video on UA-cam about DIY footswitch. Great job!
P.S. Wish you could have done a LED indicator.
SapLi From the led is alteady on the amo
Works on a Marshall cab too. Boost channel needs to be engaged and the footswitch "cancels" that signal path.

Is this “tip to ground” latching? I know for Mesa Boogie amps require that type of latching.
Awesome video man, a great beginner project
What circuit do I need if I want to add a led?
Is this wiring considered "tip to ground" latching? I have a Mesa Boogie and I know that their amps require you to short the tip to ground.

Anyone knows any scheme or anything to make something like this but for a Line 6 Spider IV, wich uses a RJ45 cable?
A much simpler way to find a center point is to just draw 2 lines from corner to corner in an X form. Where they meet is your center.

Probably not. The Fender foot switch looks more complicated so its probably looking for different inputs then just bridging the connections.
Can i do this on my peavey transtube 112 efx??
can i use it for guitar pedals? For on/off
Can this be used to analog effects under a board?
Where could I purchase the matching switch ???

They have genuine hammond enclosures you find on name brand pedals with really nice powder coating options. #notsponsored
MerwinMusic Thank you!
Is that a certain kind of wire?
Is it mono or stereo jack?

what is the size of a mini pedal foot switch and input Jack? thank you?

Is a 3pdt witch ok for this?
Does anyone know if you need a mono or stereo 1/4" jack?
Depends on your amp, for this video it's a mono. For a footswitch that's meant to switch two different things (ex. reverb and tremolo) it'd be stereo.
Don’t you need and input and output jack? I don’t understand, you can just use one cable?
The signal doesn't really go through the foot switch, you just connect signal and ground together to switch channels.
MerwinMusic oh ok, so how do you connect your guitar to the switch, and to the amp? Thanks for your help too!

No programming when the signal is connected to ground then the channel changes.
