    Magnificent - no dining room table could be more graced and beautified than with such a noble art form.

    Just to add a few comments about other people's comments, HMS Hood went through a lot of paint changes in her career, the decking amidships, is actually steel plating and was painted many different colours in her life, as for the rondels, many RN ships had a rondel on their forward guns, so British aircraft could recognize what was friendly and what was not... The Bismarck, and a few other ships of the DE had the swasticker, on there fore and aft decks, but this was painted over as it was too much of a target, the rondel was painted over when Hood moved to the home fleet...

    Having built a 1-350 version of this lovely battlecruiser, I can well appreciate the time and effort involved. A beautiful tribute to the ship and the men that served and perished with her. You should submit some photos to the HMS Hood website, they would love it! Anyway, Bravo!! Job well done!!

    Looks good, but the most obvious thing missing from your model is the anti-blast bags on the main guns. It really stands out like a sore thumb.

    Beautiful work! It's a nice touch to have the little figures on the inner main deck areas. Hood was a tremendously good looking ship, clearly built for high speed as well as for heavy armament. For a lengthy period she was the most famous ship in the world, and it's not hard to see why. Did you use a wood veneer of some kind for the wooden decking or is it painted on?

  • @monumentstosuffering2995
    @monumentstosuffering2995 3 роки тому

    I would put it in a display case and leave it in the middle of the table as the finest table ornament going. How about some lights (tricky retrofit though) to bring it to life even more during dimly - lit evening meals perhaps. Dinner by searchlight. Excellent work - the figures are wonderful.

    Fantastic Model... ever so slightly more impressive than my 1970's airfix 1/600th scale "Hood". I'd have that as pride of place in the living room, the wife would just have to accept it.
    As an aside I would just like to inform anyone who had ancestors who served onboard HMS Hood, whether prewar, or sadly at the time of her tragic loss, that the "HMS Hood association" website hosts memorial pages for all known crewmembers. A lot of the individual pages have photos of the honoured crewman and some have a potted history of their life and naval service. There are a few commenters in these comments who had family members on board, So I would just like to say that if any of you have confirmed photographs of their crewmember relative, the association website would LOVE to receive a copy to honour that individual concerned. All the best.

      H.M.S..Hood: 1920- 1941. Out of all the men who went down with her, there were only three who survived. She was the only victim of the DKM Bismarck, 3, 14, 1939- 5, 27 , 1941.
      How ever , the Hood fired the first shot.

    • @conradheinrich4908

  • @ed9492
    @ed9492 3 роки тому

    What was the point of some ships having a lower deck in the back? I looked it up but I couldn't find anything. It seems a lot of battleships from WWI into the 1920s were like that. The USS Arizona among others did it like this too.

    • @dominicbuckley8309
      @dominicbuckley8309 3 роки тому +2

      Stability. The weight of the aft turrets (900 tons each) could be lowered by about 10 feet. The forward turrets had to be further above the water, so they could still be used in heavy weather, but this was not so much a consideration for the rear ones.

    • @MichaelHill-we7vt
      @MichaelHill-we7vt 3 роки тому +2

      Gathas of Persia, what an ignorant, crass and appallingly disrespectful comment....first of all the model is quite beautiful, and surely represents many months of hard work and effort on the part of the model maker, to produce such a great piece of work, of which I am sure he is rightfully proud. I wish I could produce such fine work, that's for sure. Secondly, and much more importantly, it is shockingly disrespectful of the ship herself, and her crew, lost in action in a moment of absolute carnage, during a dreadful war, and resulting in the deaths of 1415 brave men, including more than four hundred of whom were still teenagers.....YOU might find that funny, but I assure you that I dont, since one of the men lost that day was a member of my family, my mother was widowed and left with four small children to look after. In fact, a total of 584 men were married, and more than 750 children were left without fathers when the ship was lost. ..........and you think that saying "hahahahah" is appropriate?...........SHAME ON YOU!
