The ideas in this video are a combination of my own thoughts as well as other fan theories and comments from several websites and message boards.
"I'm not sure if you noticed but the girls are trying to kill each other" bro I'm sure we all noticed. 💀
In the deleted scenes video it is reveled that the bullet hits them all as they stand in a row.
The song and m/v sounds and looks so cute but the theories behind them are so scary....
"Seulgi is clearly the love interest. There is no anonymous male. Bye." - s. tumblr
Even yeri's part lyric says "for you love is a game"
when you though it was just a cute and fun song but it's actually creepy.
a korean netizen paralleled it to the competitive nature of SK society. whether it be in education, or work, korea has this obsession with being number one. and when someone reaches that top spot, it's at the cost of myriads of others who were all trying for the same goal. it doesn't matter if it's your friends or co-workers, you ultimately have to rise over them. this definitely connects to your theory about how everyone pretends to like each other for their own gain, and the irony of the winner actually being the loser. also i never thought about irene being the winner! either way, great video and explanation :)
The original Russian Roulette game was that only 1 survived. Only one bullet is missing in the chamber. The game started out when Russian Soldiers tried to make a game out of their suicide attempts.
maybe that's why Irene often wearing different costume on Russian Roulette Stage, becasue she is the winner 😆
I never knew Red Velvet members were yanderes
Red Velvet 2016:
"They look like friends here but they all hate each other"
quite sound and logical explanation. I like it! you've got yourself a subscriber man!
Apparently i found many interesting things after countless times rewatching the MV. Maybe some of my explanation are too forced / imaginative, but i just like to share my thoughts:
I think this theory assumes too quickly that they're fighting over a guy. First of all, as opposed to a school, it looks more like a country club or a sports club, and the girls look like a sports team (could be a school sports team). The lyrics of the song talk about love, but I think the video can be interpreted as the broad theme of competition, whether that's for fame, power, careers, anything.
I think that Wendy and Selugi are the most psychotic.Wendy is the first to kill and Selugi’s attempts are the most brutal.

wow so cool!!! I've been always complaining about SM's discombobulating videos, but after this, now I realize how much meaning they are suppose to have. Thanks for the explanation!!
My theory is basically this:
i dont know why but this is kind of scary
