I'm not gonna lie, the only reason I started watching the series is because I randomly stumbled upon the 'Ready As I'll Ever Be' music video on UA-cam, and as soon as I saw Varian on screen, I just went: "I NEED MORE OF THIS BABY BOY!!" And I tracked down the series from there. Now I am obsessed with the series as a whole, but Varian still is, and will always be my favorite character.

I cried during Ready As I’ll Ever Be and as embarrassing as it is that it happened, all he wanted WAS TO SAVE HIS FATHER AND NOBODY BOTHERED TO HELP HIM I-
Violet 0805 He made it pretty clear that freeing his father wasn’t all he wanted when he sang “Anyone who stands *or has stood* in my path, they are going to pay!”
Varian wanted revenge. He wanted to hurt people. He became a villain. And what’s more, he refused to take responsibility for his own actions until Season 3. It was his reckless experimentation that caused the problem in the first place. Varian’s problems were all self-inflicted.
I felt bad for the kid too- he was only trying to help with the black rocks and it got his dad trapped. He went for help, and pretty much had the status of a criminal afterwards for "attacking the princess"
Even after the storm, nobody checked on him- and I think Rapenzuel was aware Varian was going to something wrong because she continues to worry. Yet she doesn't check on him. He's a villan for a solid minute, but he's also kinda a victim of circumstance. I've just passed where he's redeemed (Thank God we got the bed character back) and I'm hyped to see how interacts with Cass now

It’s one of the few depictions of a healthy couple that is actually very spot on and it’s so rare to see in media but they argue, learn to compromise or that sometimes they just need space. It’s so wholesome how supportive they are of eachother although season 3 made it too over the top and that became Eugene’s only personality but whatever

This is such a complete and accurate picture of the fanbase. It's really terrific. I've seen so many conversations that boil down to these same points. Tangled the Series is such an underrated gem of a show and it really deserves more attention.
Varian deserved a much longer villain arc imo. Like- I love Cassandra, I do! I would marry her given the chance, but I feel like it wasn’t fair for her villain arc to last a full season when varian got like 6 episodes. Just saying.

Yeetus I read the first three books of the Unwanteds and just never got around to reading the fourth, but at the very least I feel like Aaron seems like a cool character thus far. And I understand about the everything except for what you actually want for books. There’s this series called The Magic Thief and it’s like Oliver Twist but with magic and I’ve found an entire like five people on the entire internet who’ve read it.
