To understand the trigger word that is "wait" for Cass, you have to listen to Waiting in the Wings (the original and the reprise)
Yes yes yes yes!
THIS 1000 TIMES THIS!!!
I’d love to see her react to them
The reprise of Waiting in the Wings will really give the context for Cassandra's motives
Exactly!
Ready As I’ll Ever Be, Waiting in the Wings (and the reprise), Through it All & Everything I Ever Thought I Knew are all great songs from the Tangled series! Some of my favorites!!!
up
YESSSS
Ready as I'll ever be is in my Spotify playlist, so is this day aria from my little pony
Basically anything with Cassandra and varian were the best songs
Yes please!
it is a CRIME that you haven’t done “Ready as I’ll Ever Be” yet. A CRIME I SAY
The only song i have heard from this and all i have to say is... JEREMY JORDAN 🥰🥰🥰
I SAY, TOO
I know its literally the best song
me rewatching all the songs with even a single line Jeremy sings: _yes_
IKR
Another song I would recommend is waiting in the wings reprise it gives more context as to why Cassandra is so mad. Also when I was watching this show for the first time I forgot multiple times that I was not supposed to be rooting for Cass I just love her so much 😂. P.S. The show was originally called tangled the series but they changed the name for season 2 to Rapunzles tangled adventure and kept that name through season 3.
Oh my god yeeesssaaaa!!!!
"Elphaba-level range" made me grin!! Yes, Eden was hired for Cass for a reason! It's true that the show distributes it's songs sparingly, throughout the seasons. But I do recommend watching it for funsies. And just choose specific songs to analyze with us after the fact, if you want??? idk, but i think the context is definitely important for the popular songs of the series...
Also, I always lovingly & jokingly refer to this song as "Let It Go: The Initial Vision". I definitely think Disney was going for an emotionally complicated tv diva icon of Elsa's calibre, made for tv, with Cassandra. "Crossing the Line" is basically a Disney heroine getting her villain origin anthem, the way Elsa was initially planned to, with Let It Go....reckless usage of her magic and all lol. Elsa was even supposed to have electric blue hair when designed as a villain & there's one concept sketch with her blue hair and then her spiky ice gown rendered in black charcoal...I'm glad Disney designed villain Cassandra to look like this!! You're right, she looks so cool!
So yeah, in a way, we got villain Elsa with Cass (the sisterly relationship angst too, with Rapunzel, tbh.) But Cass stands on her own as fleshed out character and she's so much more than that comparison, too!
honestly i think cass is more intresting character then elsa so thats that atleast
@@BeanSparrow Tbh? I agree. Although, I do remember how Elsa opened up discussions of mental health and stigma at the time...I was a teen in an outpatient program with my own depression back in 2013 & a character like her in G-rated media opened a lot of parents' eyes. So I will always appreciate her for that.
But hands down, Cass is a better character. The writing energy definitely went into writing her as an individual, with her own unique personality and motivations, over going all in to make her marketable.
@@FeatheredWingz in Elsa's defense Frozen was never about her (I haven't really seen the sequel btw) but Cass has a whole series to grow
I completely agree! I think they toon their initial idea for elsa and put it into Cass and that Crossing the Line was what Let it Go was originally supposed to be. The rocks and castle are definitely familiar. Cass was definitely more developed tho her redemption was a bit rushed i think.
@Ocean Blue that is not a good excuse, I get it though, because Frozen ended up being about BOTH the sisters and their relationship, not just Anna. Considering how close family "villains" tend to work, with the amount of screentime Anna and Elsa got together, Elsa should have gone full villain/antagonist as planned. Honestly, the first Frozen movie shows that the creators did not know what to do with Elsa from the start to end and only built her around Let it go.
Ready as I'll ever be and Let me make you proud reprise. They are both Jeremy Jordan and show case his beautiful lower range.
Ooh! It would be so fun to see a reaction to both of those. Especially the reprise for LMMYP. Even if it doesn't hit as hard without context.
YES YOU READ MY MIND
YESS!! I've been waiting for more Tangled The Series!!!!
SAME
ME TOOOO
same its such a underated master piece of a show
"everything I ever thought I knew" and "buddy song" (which is a Zachary Levi and James Monroe Iglehart duet!!) are my favourite songs from the series
Awesome stuff! Always good to see Eden get her credit! The reason Cass is so triggered by "Wait!" is because she feels her whole life that she's been "Waiting in the Wings" for her chance to get what she wants. A lift of being a sidekick, or being ignored. So Rapunzel going "Just wait!" is to Cass the ultimate trigger-word.
Yeah, Cassandra's kinda in the right here. The entire series she's wanted to stand out and protect Rapunzel, for example, at one point she enters a tournament to decide the strongest fighter in the land, and doesn't tell Rapunzel, because she knew Rapunzel would end up being the star. So naturally when Rapunzel found out Cassandra was competing, she thought it'd be fun to join too, then proceeded to destroy the spirit of the competition.
And there are tons of other examples like that, when they met she convinced Cass not to join an all female country where she could be respected because Rapunzel wanted to be her friend.
Other examples include ignoring her advice in favor of blind optimism that somehow always works out, and other characters denying her chances to be recognized.
And the last straw (probably fine to say this if you aren't watching the show) was when she found out she was an orphan because her own mother valued Rapunzel more than her.
Also, it probably would have been a better idea to react to them in order
It hits so hard with context. Like the lines have so much meaning.
NO WAYYY! I WAS WAITING FOR YOU TO REACT TO THIS! LOVE YOU HANNAH xoxo
waiting in the wings, next stop anywhere, everything i ever thought i knew, and ready as i'll ever be are really good songs from tangled i highly recommend. also, the reason why cassandra freaked out over rapunzel saying "wait" is because that's all cass has been doing her whole life - waiting for her moment to shine after always being in rapunzel's shadow. that's why she turned evil. waiting in the wings really clears things up!
MISS GIRL YOU GOTTA REACT TO WAITING IN THE WINGS
YESSS
Yes, another Tangled the Series reaction (I prefer that title). Context; Cass turned against Rapunzel because her mother was Gothel, so a demon manipulated her into thinking that Raps stole her mother's love and attention. That's the reason she became the "villain" of the third season. P.S. I would love you to do a reaction of "Wating in the Wings", also to understand the whole context. 😁
HER MOM IS GOTHEL!?!? HOLY SHIT
😊😅
Lol spoilers
@@clairyvbear yep, it's in the waiting in the wings reprise
I’m pretty sure we were all kinda confused as to why Cassandra did that except for “waiting in the wings” we didn’t have a complete explanation until Season 3 Episode 1 where we got “Crossing the Line” and the “Waiting in the Wings” reprise it was a pretty darn good plot twist lol
Yes!! This song is so good if you ever react to more tangled the series songs please react to waiting in the wings, it’s a song only Cassandra sings so you get to hear more of Eden Espinosa’s amazing voice
This is probably my favourite song from the whole series. It really feels like Cassandra getting her "Defying Gravity" moment, and I have to wonder if that was intentional given Eden Espinosa's acting history.
And considering that many of the initial concepts and designs of Elsa was used for Cassandra and Elsa is played by Idina who also played Elphaba? Yeah I doubt it was unintentional
You should listen to "Ready as I'll ever be". The context is Varian feeling betrayed by Rapunzel and that Corona has turned their back on him and his dad who is frozen in amber. Varian is the villain of the first season. All of the great vocal talents are involved. And it's a Varian song, I love that kid and of course his voice actor.
🤣 Lol I hadn’t noticed Eugene just kind of standing in front of Cass and not even charging before and now I’ll never unsee it! Great reaction video and vocal commentary!
Waiting in the Wings is amazing and gives context to Cassandra's emotional struggle that eventually led to this song
I recommend listening to “Ready as I’ll ever be”, “Buddy Song” and “Waiting in the Wings”
Have been waiting for months to see Hannah react to this song. Watching her jaw drop near the end made the wait so worth it. This song gives me literal chills. Eden is just so amazing.
I would definitely recommend Ready As I’ll Ever Be which is when the whole kingdom is getting ready to fight Varian and also Bigger Than That from later in the series.
Yesss I've been waiting for Tangled the Series!! You definitely need to react to Cassandra's solo "Waiting in the Wings" before she turns evil and then "Waiting in the Wings Reprise" because that's when it explains why she hates Rapunzel. You also need to listen to "Ready As I'll Ever Be" because Jeremy Jordan is just so good and the song is such a jam. Last song is definitely "Everything I Ever Thought I Knew" which is Eugene's solo songs and probably one of my favorite songs in the whole series, it's so good. And if you have extra time hahaha definitely "Let Me Make You Proud Reprise" because you really liked the song and Jeremy's low notes are incredible and it's a really sad song. Thanks for making the reactions, I love your videos!!
The "😱 oh my god !" on the "as for us if we're over that's fine" was almost the exact same reaction that I had the first time I heard this song 😅
you’ve probably heard this a million times but you should react to ready as i’ll ever be. varian’s father gets trapped in amber and rapunzel isn’t able to help after she promised she would, so varian kidnaps the queen to get revenge. but i think you should also watch the show if you want more context, it’s very well written and animated, and all the songs are amazing.
IVE BEEN WAITING IN THE WINGS FOR THIS!!!😱
2 others amazing songs in the series
-waiting in the wings
-ready as I' ll ever be
YES BEEN WAITING ON THIS ONE. You HAVE to hear Waiting in the Wings, the belting is crazy! And Best Buddy is the best duet from Disney e v e r. Lance's singer has a jazzy voice that stands out from the rest of the cast, and it works so damn well with Eugene's.
Today was a tough day so this is perfect! I was hoping for more Tangled reactions ♥ Thanks for cheering me and probably a lot of others up :D
I feel like I’ve been waiting for this video for ages! So ready for this 😁
Please please react to Waiting In The Wings, it will give you great context for Cass's arc! She's honestly my favourite Disney character of all time, there's so much complexity to her and Eden Espinosa does a magnificent job with the role
You're going to see a ton of Waiting in the Wings, Everything I Ever Thought I Knew, and Ready as I'll Ever Be. Do watch those! Definitely watch those! One super underrated one because it's not a big plot moment and it's not hard hitting is Bigger Than That. It's goofy, but it's a James Monroe Iglehart solo and it's awesome. In the show, Iglehart voices Eugene's childhood friend, Lance, who is also a thief. In the episode that contains this song, something has fallen over the kingdom that causes people to see their greatest fear all around them. To break the hold of the thing, Lance conquers his greatest fear: singing in public. It's just a ton of Iglehart goodness and it's worth iiiiit.
Other people have already mentioned a lot of songs from Tangled (and I'm waiting for them), but I also feel the urge to add Listen Up to them. It's GORGEOUS!
I missed your Tangled the Series reactions so much! You HAVE to do Ready as I'll Ever Be next! So much Jeremy Jordan vocal magic!
Edit: Also Waiting in the Wings. Literal chills every time with that one.
Yeees! Finally😍😍 But seriously!! «Waiting in the Wings»will give you some context to Cassandra. And also «Ready as i’ll ever be» and «Everything I ever thought I knew» are so good. But seriously. You should watch the whole show, its a masterpiece!
Oh my GOD you have no idea how much I love this song. There's something so outstanding about it, I just had to remake an indie rock less Disney version of it in my head and oh boy would I actually listen to that 24/7.
This song and Ready as I’ll Ever Be are my favorites
And as for the first episode not having music, I thought the same thing and I was really disappointed but I kept watching because of quarantine and I do not regret it a single bit
Watch the pilot movie. It’s got multiple songs.
Ready as I’ll ever be is my absolute favorite (they are preparing to face off with varian aka jeremy jordan), but waiting in the wings (and reprise) will give context for why ‘wait’ was the wrong choice of words for rapunzel to use it’s soooooo good
YESSSS THANK YOU HANNAH!! hehe i only asked like 4-5 times for you to do this song, right xD? I gasped in joy when i saw it. I still think you would enjoy a few other songs from the show (cough Ready As I'll Ever Be, Waiting in the Wings, Everything I Ever Thought I Knew) buuuuut i will accept this offering and stop bugging you now. I just love your singing reviews and the one you did for this show a year ago is what made me go and watch it, and i loved it! so thanks for revisiting it again boo!!
"Everything I Ever Thought I Knew" is a very very beautiful and sad song that Eugene sings in the series. That's one of my favourites
YES Hannah!!! So so glad you returned to look at more of this series! 💜☀️
HOW HAVE YOU NOT REACTED TO READY AS I'LL EVER BE YET OR WAITING IN THE WINGS YET OMGGGG
listen to "Waiting in the Wings"! it explains why the word "wait" set her off kind of :) also one of my favorite songs
I am so happy to hear more tangled series songs from you Hannah, there are a ton more you should check out.
oh I'm so early. I love tangled the series. you should still watch the whole thing!!
I don’t know why this just hit me now… but when Cass says, “you’ve no idea how much I’ve been denied” it’s true. Rapunzel doesn’t know that Gothel was cass’ mother and that she was denied that relationship(even though gothel wasn’t interested in that from the start). So I think that despite knowing that Rapunzel knows she wasn’t at fault for gothels decisions, it’s hard to be angry at her mother since she’s gone. And the common denominator is Rapunzel so she has someone to blame
Waiting in the Wings (original and reprise) both give some context to the story and another great song by Eden Espinoza. It's one of my favorites from the series. Also you should watch this show with our daughter! An activity to do together and Rapunzel is a great role model to look up too.
Ready as I'll ever be, Waiting in the wings and Everything I ever thought I knew are one of the bests from the show
You really should react to Waiting in the Wings and the Waiting in the Wings reprise. Besides informing Cassandra’s “wait” trigger as seen here, the former is also the song that completed Alan Menken’s EGOT.
I believe you should Watch Waiting in the wings, that's one of my favorite song, and it will answer why Cassandra said no to "just wait"
Some really underrated TTS songs are With You By My Side and The View From Up Here. They have some fantastic harmonies!
"Ready as I'll ever be" changed me forever when I first heard it
YESS I BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
There is sooo many good songs from Tangled the Series... Well, Waiting in the wings is obviously the N°1 I think about, but I would also loooove seeing you react to "The view from up here" or "I'd give anything" !
"Ready as I'll ever be" is by far my favourite song. Jeremy Jordan is just brilliant, I love every song that he has a part in XD
Hello Hannah! So good to see you today!
Love u Hannah and ur vids. They are the best time of my day.
Thank you so much for going back to this show!!! I love this music so much. 🥰 Waiting in the Wings is the best Eden Espinosa song. And Ready as I'll Ever Be is awesome, and bonus because Jeremy Jordan is amazing in it!!!
YESSSSSS!!!! IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR SO LONG! Ironically you are watching all of the songs in the opposite order for context lol. The song Waiting in the Wings (not the reprise) would really really help with context. But the most context would be if you watched the episodes Rapunzel and the Great Tree parts 1 and 2. You get several bonus songs!
One of my favorite things I heard about vocal direction given to Eden for the show is that prior to this song, she wasn't meant to stand out much (although she sounds great even so) and only had like one solo previous to this, but wasn't really showing off. It played into Cass's character, she didn't break out her belts until she was showing her true feelings in full force. Additionally, the songs were pretty much written with the singers in mind, Eden and Jeremy's songs really help them to shine, and play to their strengths.
I'm halfway through rewatching this series, and it is legitimately so good. There isn't a song in every episode, but all of the songs are excellent. The characters are great, the stories are exciting and surprisingly dark at times, it's honestly a fantastic show.
P.S. The first season was called "Tangled the Series", but the second and third seasons were called "Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure." It's all the same show.
P.P.S. All the people recommending you react to "Waiting in the Wings"... they are right. It's Eden Espinosa's big solo and she goes full Elphie belt.
Thanks for coming back to the show to do this song! PLEASE do Waiting in the Wings next! It sets this song up nicely. And it’s my favorite from the show. Ready as I’ll Ever Be is good too!
Yay! I'd been wanting you to react to this one! It's one of my faves when I'm in a belting mood.
Honestly, the series makes it so hard to choose a favorite song but if I had to, I would say "I'm ready" from the end of season 1. It literally has every character singing including varian who's an insane vocalist. ps =] I love your videos and I'm so happy that you're reacting to tangled series it's a fun show.
React to Waiting in the Wings (both the original and the reprise!) The reprise will probably give you a bit more context as to why Cass is the way she is. And then react to Ready As I'll Ever Be because it's amazing lol
So I know this video was posted ~1y ago, but I hope you’ll do more songs from the show.💕
“Listen Up”, “The View From Up Here”, “Buddy Song”, “Bigger Than That”, and “I’d Do Anything For You” (this one FOR SURE, I cry every time) are my favs 💕
Ily Hannah! 🌸
I love your videos by the way!❤️
Ready as I’ll ever be. Here’s the context so varian(voiced by Jeremy Jordan as you know 😂😂) is singing like this epic villain power song about how he knows he is right and will stop anybody in his way also other characters sing with him
Been waiting for the reaction to this song!
You should maybe react to Hadestown. Its a musical with Eva Noblezada about the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice and I think it is amazing. Flowers, Hey Little Songbird, and Chant are some of my favorites songs from it.
You have to watch the waiting in the wings reprise or the original to understand more
Everything i ever thought i knew it's my go to hands down and as everyone else mentions, to get the context off the wait you must listen to waiting in the wings.
Every time I hear the line and for us if we’re over that’s fine I always get goosebumps
You'll 100% love Waiting in the Wings and With You By My Side
WAITING IN THE WINGS. It will give you a bit of context to the “wait”. But basically she spent her whole life in the shadow of rapunzel. Also ready as I’ll ever be is amazing along with view from up here. I am partial to with you by my side, song by Cass, rapunzel, and Eugene, but that is because I love that song.
If you listen to 'Waiting in the Wings' it a) is very pretty to listen to and b) explains why Cass is so triggered when Rapunzel tells her to 'wait,' (when she's asking Cass to 'wait' she's telling her to hold on, don't run off without explaining what's going on. but Cass takes it as Rap telling to just stand still and wait around which is why she gets all fired up)
Songs you NEED to listen to that I know: Ready as I'll Ever Be, Waiting in the Wings and the reprise
this is my brothers favourite song for me to sing
he loves singing "cassandra listen" and then say "IM LISTENING"
its absolutely hilarious because he says it in a baby voice even though he is 9
we have watched tangled the series like 30 times
Ready as I’ll ever be and wind in my hair and waiting in the wings reprise are my top 3 faves
This is one of my favorite songs from this series.
YES YES I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS SO LONG! THANK YOU!!!
Omg Hannah, you NEED to react to Waiting in the Wings and the reprise. It’s seriously amazing. It’s Eden showing off her stuff!
Ready as I’ll ever be (love the one by anna pantsu) and nothing left to lose are my favourites easily.
I’m glad that you’re still reacting to these. I was hoping if you did, you would react to this song. This song is honestly what I think Let it Go was originally meant to be. If you notice some similarities between the rocks and the castle and the fact that Elsa was originally gonna be a villain, I think that maybe they took that plot and decided to use it on Cass (idk if any of the writers are the same, but it would make sense).
PLEASE react to Ready As I’ll Ever Be! It’s Varian’s villain song! (Well him and other characters as it doubles as a villain and and battle prep).
Also Waiting in the Wings as it’s kind of a prequel song to this one (at least, it’ll help explain why the word “wait” triggered her).
And maybe also the moon stone song just bc it’s pretty creepy but also cool.
You REALLY need to watch this show! It’s so good! The first season might seem a little slow, but it sets up some really important characters and lore.
Hannah I love you queen!!
i clicked so fast!! i love cass and also eden
Been waiting for more of this
Waiting in the wings! It's a great song and it explains why Wait was a trigger!
3:57
Your laugh is contagious here!😂🤣
YESS. i was waiting for u to do this one! i am so happy
You should definitely react to “Ready As I’ll Ever Be”, it’s a great song!!
You need to react to more voice play cause they are always killin it! Or some throwback Disney channel shows that had musical episodes! That would be so fun!
I have been waiting for this video!!! Its my favorite song from the series (and my 5th most listened to song of last year on spotify 😅) I see a lot of other people saying Ready As I'll Ever Be and Everything I Ever Thought I Knew and I agree (great Varian aka Jeremy Jordan and Eugene moments). If I Could Take This Moment Back is another favorite of mine that features Eugene too
UGH YES IVE BEEN WAITING FOR MORE TTS CONTENT
Definitely my best buddy I love they’re chemistry and we don’t get nearly enough of Lance and Eugenes voices
To give some back ground context without spoiling the show to why Cassandra blew up over the word ‘wait’ is that she is a lady’s maid to rapunzel who wants to be on the castle guard; however she has been denied every time even though she is the best. Also, watch the songs ‘Waiting in the wings, waiting in the wings reprise’ and it will give more context too. Hope that helps. You’re awesome and have a fantastic day!
I swear that "I tried to jump that great divide" is the most Elphaba line in the whole show.
From what I remember, when you tried to watch the actual show, you skipped the tv movie Tangled: before ever after, which is necessary. So if you wanted to watch the show, go back and start with that. then you can watch the show normally ❤️ I will always love this show
