This is my 1st tarantula and it has went well so far but has only molted 3 time. He or she came from fearnot at 1 1/2 inches and in good shape. Being my first T after a life long fear of spiders I was quite nervous at first. But with enough research and a responsible purchase I managed to overcome those remaining fears pretty quick. I consider my T a part of my family. I've learned even more than I ever imagined by simply witnessing each level of growth.

I adopted one from work as a sling, but now it has molted twice with me and fits in my palm. I used to like spiders but developed arachnophobia years ago after dealing with hobo spiders in WA. We got like 13 random tarantulas in at work recently that were abandoned at a motel. I ended up seeing an adult version of the curly and it won me over after a few days of checking on it. I found out the adult was adopted before I could place an interested party hold so I was kind of bummed. There were only 3 spiders left and they were slings/juvies, an OBT (no way for me), what I am thinking was a goliath, and a random one that nobody could seem to find as it hid within the dirt. I hoped it was a curly but I dug it up anyway, it was light brown and a little fuzzy and took it home. After a few molts.....CURLY! I love it! This video means a lot thank you for it! I'm about to upgrade this fuzzy face hugger to a bigger enclosure. 🌴🍂🕷🕸🍂🌴

A new discovery from the rehousing adventure: They can teleport when freaked the hell out. Said discovery was made when mine touched one of my pillows and didn't like the taste/feeling of it and tried to book it away from it only to end up hiding under my phone where I am let them stay to calm down a bit before redirecting them back into the Critter Keeper and into the new bin enclosure mansion.

mine is an absolute monster super defensive super erratic and crazy she often wakes up choosing violence and will often run at me and threat pose everything except food and goes on many hunger strikes as well as trying to kill food but not eating it just buring the bodies. Her newest bright idea has been to create many holes in her sub strate as many as like 8 connecting burrows but from a top view just looks like 8 holes in the substrate have had OBTs more docile than her. Most days I would rather handle a Indian ornamental or gooty sapphire than her.

My T.albo's are far from docile (I know I'm unlucky and that is not normal behaviour from this species). One of them nearly always threat poses me and even slaps the ground, the other is very shy and nervous and always flees down her burrow. Neither has ever flicked hairs though. My Grammostola's on the other hand are like little gerbils, maybe you could even go so far as to say they are friendly, when you open their enclosure they are not at all nervous and my G.pulcripes even climbs the side to come out seeming to want to say hello! Once I move out from my parents house, I want to get myself this one. Was thinking to get an Axolotl instead, but this here is way cooler, especially since I hold such a big hairy spider a day ago on a spider-presentation show in my town for the first time in my life.
Usually, they should not be handable at all, right, cause they are too agressive and fearfull of that? But this species here should be able to be handeled at least from time to time, right? Like letting the spider walk on your hands and stuff? I mean, even if not, its still interesting to watch while it is in its enclosure.

Sling: * sits on the surface and barely even uses its hide *
It's amazing how much their behavior can surprise you. I'll continue to give my albo room to burrow but that weirdo has been in the same enclosure for a year or two and has barely moved any substrate. I wouldn't have filled the substrate so close to the lid if I thought she'd be on the surface all the time because I'm always concerned about escapes now if she gets scared haha.
