Apart from the tragic end, which he met with brave stoicism, have to say he lived a fabulous life and left more than a smile on sour faces.. What an incredible legacy he left for the world.
I’m a Christian and it always brought me to tears to realize how badly I was being judged by my fellow Christians 😢. On the contrary I could always come home and listen to Queen especially when Freddie was singing I would feel so uplifted and at peace with myself! My parents always raised me to believe that I am nobody’s judge! Only Jesus is qualified! Still? After all these years I am STILL IN LOVE WITH FREDDIE ❤❤❤
I love Freddie's speaking voice!! He was great friends with the guy interviewing him. I can't recall his name but he never told any thing he was told in confidence. David Wigg i think
I recently bought my very first ticket to see Queen live with Adam Lambert, and while I know it won’t be the same as seeing Freddie in real life, I’m excited to recite his lyrics with his band and feel his presence through their music. Chicago 2023.
The 80s was my era, an absolutely fascinating time musically and politically but the horror of what I seen happening to my friends will live with me forever. Those young boys died horrific deaths without care or touch. I watched it. Nobody wanted to go near them, breathe the same air as them. Some of their families were so horrified that they let their son, brother etc die alone. Morgues wouldn’t take them, undertakers wouldn’t take them, it was the most horrific thing to watch. So to Freddie and all those young men who just wanted to be free to love who they were attracted to, I salute you all. RIP❤
We are so good at persecuting any minority, I remember those times too, born out of ignorance, fear and prejudice. Thank God it's now treatable Although Freddie put a brave face on it, I'm sure he would have settled into a happy older life.
😂 you always made me smile I enjoyed all your music and I still playing today at 74 years old I'm glad you lived your life the way you wanted to live it and I'm happy for you for doing that but very sad that you're gone
Freddie's music and his natural born blessing of being the performer and singer that he was. And his dedication was for the world!! Freddie's private life was his business period Freddie said that it gave him much happiness within himself. If he could make any people smile and be happy and this inspired Freddie Mercury to be the beautiful performer and singer that he was!!! And Freddie's Most Loved And Beautiful Legend, Carries on Forever. Amen 🙏🏻 From Lynette in Illinois USA 🇺🇸 August 22, 2023
The telling line for me is when he was asked about how the AIDS crisis has affected him and he says 'I have learned a very hard way, I thought that sex was very important to me, but now...I've just gone completely the other way." The fact he says he has learned the hard way, what else could that mean other than he had learned that the sex he had been having before has had consequences for himself. Very tragic but he speaks about it with such stoicism that you have to admire his outlook on life.
I wonder the song.....Dont try so hard explain things more. Freddie appreciated his wealth and he didnt have to apologise for it. He bloody worked for it.. Thk u for sharing this. X
Mary kept her promise to him. She is nearing her twilight years and has to get her own affairs in order now. I have no doubt she had thought through what was to become of the incredible inheritance that was bequeathed her. Freddie didn’t want his things sitting in a museum. I’m sure there is a very good reason for what Mary is doing. Just remember that from the time of his death until now she has never let anyone into Garden Lodge that she didn’t personally know. Freddie trusted her and I think he got it right.
@@abacus299 ALL of his belongings…come on get real dude !!! Mary is trying to manage his belongings in a way that it’s realistic to maintain them. The amount of stuff to take care off is incredible. She has to be able to enjoy them without being just a cleaning organization. The people buying it pay loads of money so they obviously are gonna take good care also… I am sure that money is already thought to go somewhere responsible and respectful ✊
@@touraneindanke Respectfully, I do not appreciate your tone and the implication that I was critical of the sale when i clearly did not state that. I commented in light of what Freddy himself said in this interview, as it is the first time I heard him discuss his effects. But he bequeathed them to Mary Austin so they are now hers to do with as she wishes. Mary has stated all his belongings are to be auctioned, apart from the personal gifts he made to her. 30,000 items have been catalogued by Sothebys and there will be several auctions. I doubt a permanent exhibition anywhere would have been sustainable long term unless Garden Lodge was opened Graceland style and even then unlikely long term. However, I think it regrettable that a 6 month or year long exhibition could not be staged to give fans across the globe the opportunity to attend or visit virtually. As for good causes, Mary has said some of the proceeds will be donated to the Mercury Phoenix Trust and the Elton John Aids Foundation. I know less about John's Foundation, but the MPT has a great record in supporting small grassroot charities in many countries. I have actually attended the pre-sale exhibition of 1500 items and intend bidding on several. .My one caveat to the above is the piano. It is claimed it is the same one on which Bohemian Rhapsody was written. If so, it is an item of significant cultural importance and should not end up the bragging rights of some oligarch. George Michael arranged for John Lennon's "Imagine" piano to travel around the world as an exhibit at various events. Hope whoever buys the "Rhapsody" piano intends to give it a home accessible to the public, preferably with the draft sheets of Bohemian Rhapsody on the music shelf.
Ironic how he said he wanted to be buried with his stuff, and fast forward 30-some-odd years later after this interview was conducted, his stuff is being auctioned off by Sotheby's in London.
Can you believe he says about all his stuff being buried with him when he’s dead, or hoarded , and then at Sothebys auction they used that quote he says at the end about putting a smile on a sour face, jokers!
Only goes to show he wanted to be buried with all his stuff I know it was only a saying but she knew how he felt so I guess that's why she auctioned It Off please she might have been a nice person face-to-face she wasn't nice to Jim nice to Peter Freestone she threw them all out but it was okay when he was alive when she was there with them all the time she's a strange person what do you use people want to believe it or not

It was an off the cuff comment; after thought he gifted them to Mary to do with as she pleases. It's a little sad none of the items are being gifted to a museum though, although some museums may well buy.
Freddie knew he had AIDS by this time and wasn’t thinking about a new relationship, I think if he had lived he would have gotten bored with Jim after a few years .
Those final years must have been very hard for Freddie. I think he did want somebody to love and he was still confused about his sexuality for some years. I think he loved Mary, but he was sexually attracted to males. It must have been so difficult for him. It seems Freddie was much more an intellectual than some of his companions. Perhaps he wanted a challenging relationship! 😊
I think he was already bored with Hutton by the time of this interview. Freddie was doing PR cleanup after Prenter’s earlier article was causing bad press. His birthday was a perfect time to call in Wigg for the interview. He could also promote Great Pretender and his Montsy collaboration. The way Wigg starts that interview is a clue that there was something else going on. Wigg: “What is it you want to say?” Since when did Wigg ever start that way?

Freddie was a kind soul, and I'm so happy he found his true self, as well as a loving friend and soulmate.
Freddie just lived the life he liked and believed,,he was happy in his own world in his private life
I don't believe Freddie would have become bored with Jim he had already sowed his Wild oats by the time he met Jim and was ready to settle down 😊😊
Hutton was frequenting the gay bars in the last years of Freddie’s life. The bloom was off that rose.

@@yanapugach2484really? Soulless people? Life must be really really good to you if Mary auctioning her own property elicits such a dramatic reaction.
