I live in Michigan, traveled to England immediately after I graduated in 1996., so 18 years old. And London is where I bought his book Mercury and Me. Very insightful. I do believe Freddie adored Jim.
I love Jim. he was the best for Freddie in so many ways, I wish that they had met long before, Freddie might have still being here. But I am more than grateful that they are back together, living peacefullly in their own heavenly Garfen Lodge, with lots four leaf clovers and thousands of beautiful roses, since they are Freddie's favorite flowers
They only met and stayed together because Freddie was ready to settle down, tired of partying though. It's been a terrible desease, it's amazing it can now be cured, but so many suffered.
Freddie just tolerated hutton in his house. Even hutton recognized in interview in 1996 they didn't have any relationship since the end of 1985. As you see the " relationship " lasted a few months after that Freddie kept hutton in Garden Lodge as a Gardner, a servant, nothing more. Freddie just tolerated hutton in his house to avoid another scandal because hutton blackmailed Freddie. Go to find hutton interview in 1996, he told the truth because Queen manager forced him to tell the truth because hutton offended Freddie's parents and Freddie's friends with his lies
@@andaluziafurculesteanu8111 True and it aggravated me no end that Jim was portrayed in the movie as someone Freddie was in love with before he died and Mary was relegated to best friend. Never seen this before, So nice to hear Jim talking about Freddie ❤ but this interviewer is terrible, not asking the right questions to get the best from his memories of Freddie, I suppose it was the early 90s , a lot has changed and it would definitely not be conducted this way now. I love Jim’s book and he treats Freddie with love and respect. And let’s also consider that it was almost certainly Freddie that infected Jim with HIV (he was HIV positive, but died of cancer) and this lovely man forgave him and stuck around to care for Freddie until his death.
How would anyone know that Freddie infected Jim let alone be able to prove it?? Do you think he was wearing a chastity belt? These were two very attractive gay men. I'm sure there were other men throwing themselves at them. Even if there were indiscretions it doesn't tarnish the beautiful love they had for each other.
@@ЛюдмилаШишкина-ж8з I didn’t say I ‘know’. But Freddie, as is well documented, was super-promiscuous…and world-wide. Whereas Jim was more a relationship to relationship type. Freddie true love❤ at least Jim was with him for love and not for his money unlike all the human being that surrounded him for his money and fame. Freddy knew Jim was different that's the reason why he always chose Jim over and over again for years it was always Jim. Freddie could have anyone he wanted women&men rich, handsome, wild, etc ...but in the end he chose Jim a nobody to spend his last years with the love of his life.
He was not a "nobody" in the world of gay men. Many men would find him HOT. He had a classic Castro Street stache and was very masculine. He would've been a hit in any gay bar at that time or even now. I totally agree with Freddie's taste.
Jim Hutton was much better for Freddie than Paul Prenter was. Paul was a controlling asshole. Freddie was miserable with him. But he seemed to be totally content with Jim. They always looked so happy together. They stayed together, even after Freddie was diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. God bless both of them.
He makes a couple of comments worth noting - he said he was the gardener, not pretending to be the gardener. And, he didn't bother to mention that Mary and Dave Clark were at his bedside as well. In fact, Dave was holding Freddie when he took his last breath. A very important detail to have left out.
Neither Mary or Dave Clarke were with Freddie when he died. Dave was asked to leave the room while Phoebe and Jim changed his clothes, as Freddie had wet the bed. Mary wasn’t even in the house at the time Freddie passed. And Jim WAS Freddie’s gardener, as well as his husband. He was determined to continue working, despite Freddie saying he didn’t have to, so Freddie gave him a job he could do within his own home.
It´s always a doctor who decides if a person is dead.Breathing can change for a person who is dying, you think they have taken taken the last breath and after a while they take another breath and maybe another.. And we don't know if the heart still was beating when Freddie took his last breath. In the end of Freddie's life Mary took care of her little son she had together with her boyfriend and she was pregnant again. She probably visited Freddie every day but most time couldn't stay that long. Yes Dave Clark visited him too every day in the end but it was Peter Freestone, Jim Hutton and Joe Fanelli who stayed with Freddie for many hours. They took turns to look after Freddie during the nights the last weeks and it was them who helped Freddie to the bathroom. In the end Jim and Dave Clark was with Freddie when Jim thought it seemed like Freddie wanted to go to the bathroom.Jim wanted help with it but he didn´t even ask Dave, he ran downstairs and found Peter Freestone
3 months to get a new place set up back then was plenty of time really, especially with 500k in your bank, although I appreciate it would have been emotionally painful and felt too soon for Jim. Mary clearly wasn't as fond of Freddie's staff as Freddie himself huh, and she maybe wanted privacy for her own grief and family, understandable, I would feel the same, but I can't help but wonder if she held no feeling for Jim at all, her notice was fair but there was no love in it was there. It was good while it lasted for Jim and I think what Freddie bequeathed him was proportionate and fitting. It showed him he cared and appreciated him a great deal, for those 6/7 years at the end of his life. He gave Jim the time of his life while he was there and you can see Jim understands this.
My opinion is that Mary - who I do think highly of - blamed the Gay community and specifically Freddie's Gay inner circle for his death. True, Freddie's promiscuity was his downfall, but we never blame the dead for their own downfall. It's clear Freddie and Mary were soulmates, and there's little doubt if it weren't for his bisexuality or gayness that they'd potentially have married. So, I think about Mary in the situation she found herself in. She was in love with a man that she intended to spend her life with, then that's ripped away by Freddie's attraction to men and his promiscuity. That has to hurt, and I can see how from the outside how Freddie's circle and entourage could be seen as parasites and hangers on, as well as being the reason Freddie would never return to her.
Quite possibly; certianly appears like there was no love lost hey and yes, most of us look for blame when greiving, and if this goes unprocessed some can hold onto this for a v long time @@AtomicExtremophile

If anyone had issues, it was Hutton who was jealous of what Freddie and Mary had together and he vented all of that in his horrible book.
