I am Latina. In my youth I was often mistaken as Indian. So what? I’ve followed Smitha for years because our complexions are similar. She has never let me down.
@@Forensicsllc Imo it works better on particular face types. In my case (am Ethiopian-Eritrean roots), I would look 1,000 years old with this heavily matte look lol.
I'm a very pale latina myself (for this look doesn't quite work for me), but I gotta say you ended up looking just like my cousin! Fantastic work, Smitha! And, yes, makeup is art and should be appreciated as a beautiful form of expression. Love you channel :)
For us, very pale Latinas, we have to fall back to a more classic look that is still popular. Red matted lips, with well-defined eyes. For everyday, I'll wear a more dewy, look to keep it fresh. Or on the matted side for night. Ombre red lips are cool, but they can look goth on super pale skin. Also, the red lipped, defined eyes was also popular in the 90s, as that was a trend adopted from the Latin community back then. Madonna made that look trendy. She kept her love if the Latina look for 25yrs in her career.

As a Latina, I love this. You know, there is a popular phrase in spanish that most latinas love and kinds joke around with and its: "antes muerta que sencilla" - meaning, "rather be dead than be basic and simple" 😂😂😂 and its extra but thats the motto. We like to be extra and do a full face of makeup that lasts. Maybe because we are raised watching telenovelas (Spanish soap operas) and they have so much drama, and glamour is exalted, especially on the rich characters and the makeup and attitude is extra. We want makeup that lasts. This natural dewy treend has been killing the fun out of makeup for me. Though pretty, it's not giving us the dramatic effect we want. My two cents. Love the look. You look Latina and you always do beautiful looks. Happy new year.
That's so funny... I'm mexican but didn't grow up in the community or knowing much about my culture (I was adopted) but I've always said something similar "better late than ugly" 😂😂

@@themanyfacesofeve Your analysis sounds spot-on to me! "The era of giving everything a name" aka marketing on steroids! In general, this style of makeup is common in many modern countries and cultures where high femininity and glamour are still expected or encouraged. Be it in Latin America, Russia/Eastern Europe, Iran, Arab world, major urban centers in parts of Africa, South Asia, etc.
I was waiting for you to try this trend!
You ate and left no crumbs, as usual! 💅🏻💜
I too am a Latina woman, and you did a fantastic job! You look like my niece now!
