VIOFO A119 Mini 2 - Review | Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675

This is my review of the VIOFO A119 Mini 2 QHD dash camera. I delayed this review until October 2023 to present the resolution to a heat related lens focus problem that I encountered while reviewing this dash camera.

Hello, I really like your reviews. There are scientific, organized and have a sense of discipline, absent in these new generation. Regarding the Viofo, why is recording in low resolution in parking mode? Except "Low bitrate option" and the "Low frame rate" the "AutoEvent detection" should record in full frame size. If I wanted a low resolution, I should choose LBR.

I'm glad you like my reviews! VIOFO 4K UHD dash cameras will reduce the parking mode resolution to 2560x1440 to reduce the size of the video files being saved. Their 2K QHD / 1080p FHD dash cameras will not reduce the video resolution in parking mode. Low Bitrate (LBR) parking mode always reduces the video bitrate of the parking mode video files independently of any resolution change that may occur for the 4K UHD dash cameras.

The center of the vertical field of view for the front camera is aimed at the horizon. I use a laser level to assist me in aiming the front camera to get a consistent center point for the vertical field of view.

Each dash camera company will usually recommend their own micro SD cards for use with their products. VIOFO has listed a couple of other micro SD cards that will work with their products in the FAQ section for each dash camera. I've used SanDisk Max Endurance cards with a variety of dash camera makes/models without a problem. Even though the micro SD card specs may be the same for several different cards, it often depends on how fast the constant write speed is and how heat resistant the underlying memory card technology is in the micro SD card.

Overall daytime image quality (especially in sunny days) is bad compared with night. Purple dominant, poor WB, purple fringing, bad overexposures... The real improvement is at night. ua-cam.com/video/-qFMFJjegpo/v-deo.html
