@Tyler Voigt-Pope You cheated not only the game, but yourself. You didn't grow. You didn't improve. You took a shortcut and gained nothing. You experienced a hollow victory. Nothing was risked and nothing was gained. It's sad that you don't know the difference.
Just out of curiosity, why is that a reason not to port it? Pretty sure FFVII used a lot of the same techniques (solid image backgrounds for sure) and that was ported over with no issues. :0
I think it's because Sega would think it would break the immersion. And probably because Ulala would be rendered in 1080p but the FMV's would be in their native res
One of the best things about this game is how the people you rescue copy your every move!!! It just makes Ulala even more of a diva leader than she was alone.
Carly Does Some Stuff I know this is a super late reply, but that warning is actually super common in Japan. I've seen multiple anime series where commercial bumpers have the main characters warning kids not to sit too close to the television. This is because Japanese living rooms are traditionally much smaller than those found in the West, and it's common for people to sit on the floor to watch television. So since kids just wanna enjoy themselves some tv or games, they'll sometimes sit too close without thinking.
Michael Jackson is dead so sorry we won't get Space Channel 5 part 3 I'm sorry man sorry to ruin your dream bubble but really I'm sorry man I can't forgive you on that Michael Jackson is dead sorry
It must be because I'm a drummer and have strong sense of rhythm, but for me Space Channel 5 is super easy. I take it more as a casual game, contrary to Bayonetta
I begged my mom to buy this game for me as a kid because I saw it reviewed on G4 (I think on X-Play), and I had to have it. I was OBSESSED with the colors, designs, music and Ulala. I drew her picture like a hundred times. Lol. However, I got it for the Dreamcast by mistake and never got the chance to get the console. So for years, I only knew what the game looked like from that review. Never had a chance to play it and experience it. Today is a monumental day. I can know say for certain that this game, and of course Ulala, is fucking iconic!!! Thank you! Lol.
Had a hilarious idea....Space Channel 5 crosses over Guardians of the Galaxy. C'mon, it'd be worth a few laughs. And Star-Lord would get plenty of use out of his soundtrack.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS GAME!! Such an AMAZING soundtrack... this game is so cheesy in all the right ways!! and LOVE that ending when everyone starts singing altogether!!!
I remember playing this game at my cousin's house almost every day in 5th grade. My aunt used to watch me before and afters school so when my cousin and I finished our homework we got to play and to this day I love coming back and watching old gameplay because I miss this game.
Just bought the PSN SC5:part 2... it was worth it, but even for as amazing as this game is, Sega still should have enhanced the character models (not just the resolution) in game as well as re-create the in game "films" with the higher resolution/enhanced models and lighting. But this game is still oh so groovy!
Cugastratos The reason for that being they wanted the game to respond natively to current resolution standards, but still keep the charm of the original. Games like these thrive on light-hearted asthetic, changing that would make the game take itself too seriously, losing the charm.
That was like a very scatter brained and every colorful musical based on good versus evil. lol. I can not say that I have played a game with no back story or focused plot and managed to continue playing. It is really funny because you can still distinguish why alien faction in this game is evil though they barely had a script.
Well, every game doesn't actually focused on the story. Yes, it does have a premise but it's only a gameplay. Remember that the Super Mario Bros on NES doesn't have a cutscene? The story is on the manual.
But, there is a story in this game. A group of aliens have been brainwashing people into dancing endlessly, and it's up to a news reporter to use her dancing skills to rescue these hostages. But, it's revealed that these aliens were under mind control by her ratings-obsessed employer. After discovering who the real villain is, this woman and a group of news reporters from competing news channels team up to stop this media mogul from brainwashing aliens. They stop him, and therefore, bring peace to the galaxy. It's pretty simplistic and ridiculous, which is the point, and the game's more focused on game play than plot. It's not meant to be taken seriously. But, it's fair to say that Space Channel 5 has a discernible, easy-to-follow story line.
3:36 I've been searching all over for this voice version of "Ulala's swinging report show", it's more lively than the others and it's the one that I used to hear when playing on PS2
I loved this game. It was hard. I think by about the third level is where I started to really suffer. Luckily there was a code you could put in and the game would play itself so you could see the entire game. There was no freaking way I would have ever finished the game especially the last part!
That game gave me a literal headache. Couldn’t barely discern any of the moves happening it was so fast. If they would have added more flow it would have been one of the best games ever.
I feel like this is one of those games that looks really easy to play but then its actually really difficult..
Mendosa666 thats for a lot of rhythm games apparently
You'd be right.
I recently bought it in a videogame convention and it's actually hard with the bosses
@Tyler Voigt-Pope
You cheated not only the game, but yourself.
You didn't grow. You didn't improve. You took a shortcut and gained nothing.
You experienced a hollow victory. Nothing was risked and nothing was gained.
It's sad that you don't know the difference.
@Tyler Voigt-Pope it's a meme 😬
That walk is iconic.
Ulala just has too much swagger
Ik. Funky Ulala.
I'm listening to this casually like its an album on my way to school LOL
I always loved the way Ulala danced...for lack of a better word she has great dance swag.
J like how her strut.
ariedeee the way she throw it around makes me loose it everytime
She be dancing in heels
If I ever end up going to a nightclub, I'll remember what i learned from this video
Status report?
If you ever need to pass a dance audition this is the game.
"Chu chu chu" XD
I'm so disappointed in my younger self for passing up this game. I NEED IT NOW.
Space channel 5 part 2 was ported to XBLA,Psn, and steam
Yeah I noticed it on Steam. I'll have to pick it up soon, shame they never ported the first one!
ARCANA
I know why they didn't. The backgrounds for the game are FMV's for when Ulala is walking and images when your playing the game
11:04 ISTHATANOTHERREPORTER?!
24:55 I can never say "Jaguar" normally after this game. It's always in THIS fashion now.
"My name is JA-GUARRRRR. ... " after that, I can't hear anything except my laughing sound. XD
Sugoi desu !!!!
Ok guys, i've created a JAGUAAAAAR button on "myinstant", link here: www.myinstants.com/instant/jaguaaaaar-67575/
Relatable!
I'm the same, even though originally, due to being English rather than American, I said "Jag-you-ar", with three syllables
29:36 "It's slimy! Incredibly slimy..."
@@ToutaxRathalos you are a real one
We need more games like this.
Blue W I know
yes!
There's a VR game on PS4 now.
Even better, this game as a remaster on PS4 or PS5 or something like that. Like part 1 and 2 combined with better timing for the first game.
in my humble opinion, a good game with the same pace will never come out space Channel 5
One of the best things about this game is how the people you rescue copy your every move!!! It just makes Ulala even more of a diva leader than she was alone.
Yes. And having to get perfects to unlock certain ones.
42:44 You've got to love the sass Ulala, Pudding, and Jaguar give at walking into the scene like that 😂😂
I used that footage for some workout.
I have no shame shouting "Up! Down! Up! Down! Chu! Chu! Chu!" while doing that XD
RedoLane I did that too XD
Don’t they yell “shoot”?
So... Who else thinks that Space Channel 5 and Elite Beat Agents are part of the same universe, just separated by many years? =B
I fucking love Ulala
I loved her especially in Sonic all stars racing transformed
George Makrinakis I play that game called sonic all stars racing transformed :D
You make this game look easy.
At least PaRappa the Rapper had buttons on the screen...
This is almost somewhat impossible unless you have rhythm or a good memory.
Actually, you need both... Love this game XD
This game responds much better though lol
This game is Good, but PaRappa The Rapper is Cool
I’m literally going to cry. My inner child is so happy watching this. Fuck we need this WHOLE game series again on newer gen gaming systems.
The fact they actually needed to tell people to turn their lights on and back away from the screen says something.
They need to make Space Channel 5 3!!!
This is 2014 so they would fk it up
lilshantie crafters 2017 STILL NO SPACE CHANNEL 5 PART 3
Mew Alpaca your comment was 3 months ago. Space channel 5 part 3 confirmed in 2023
space channel 5 vr is the newest game right now, but it's still a beta.
Michael Jackson is dead so sorry we won't get Space Channel 5 part 3 I'm sorry man sorry to ruin your dream bubble but really I'm sorry man I can't forgive you on that Michael Jackson is dead sorry
Yet another Sega IP that deserves an anime
what the fuck is going on in this game
IT LOOKS AWESOME
It is one of the most beautiful things Japan ever made!!!
BROBOTTLE ikr! It is it have it.
Space Channel 5 with bayonetta are game who look simple but who is FUCKING HAARRRD
It must be because I'm a drummer and have strong sense of rhythm, but for me Space Channel 5 is super easy. I take it more as a casual game, contrary to Bayonetta
I have the sense of rhythm but i can't stand against Space Channel 5,
Bayonetta is easier 'cause you just have to use the timeout
This game is sooo underrated. It deserves more attention.
sucks that games like these were so short :\
Casual reminder that Jaguar's voice actor in this game went on to voice Owl in Nights: Journey of Dreams.
I've been commenting so much
The cameraman for this channel is getting some pretty awesome angles!
Imagine a world in which problems are solved by dance off's, israel palestine , ww2 massive party
kinganarkzie Space Trump vs Space Jong Ill, [NUCLEAR DANCE OFF]!!

The evila fight is harder than you think.
michael's outfit reminds me of the music video scream
Yeah it does I have pictures of him and sister Janet Jackson :)
yeah because his outfit is silver
The final 'UP'... Savage! 😊

The music in this game is so glamorous. My God.
Sheesh, Sega was so badass back when they used to make VG consoles.
When I get a Dreamcast for my future console collection, I would definitely get this game!^_^
It’s on the Playstation 2 so you don’t need a Dreamcast. (Besides the DC does not have S C 5 part 2... only PlayStation.)
.
@@electrictroy2010 it does but only in japan
High quality and no bullshit voice! Thank you!!! You sir, are a hero!!
Had a hilarious idea....Space Channel 5 crosses over Guardians of the Galaxy.
C'mon, it'd be worth a few laughs. And Star-Lord would get plenty of use out of his soundtrack.
+Mr. Personality Productions I would pay to watch that.
i would fund that shit
Nice! Let's add this to the list of awesome ideas that'll never happen.
i dislike the person that disliked this great video.
Im glad in part 2 that the aliens became friends with the humans LOL

The only reason I recognize this of because of Project X Zone
poor thing.
Alter Ego If only we could replace the hours of repetitive gameplay with dancing.
Also "My name is JAGUAAAAAAAAAAAAR"
I remember playing this game at my cousin's house almost every day in 5th grade. My aunt used to watch me before and afters school so when my cousin and I finished our homework we got to play and to this day I love coming back and watching old gameplay because I miss this game.

oh my god do you really think michael jackson will have a youtube channel.
They only thing this game was missing was RUUUUUUBBBBBYY RHOOOOODDDD!!!!
Honestly this is game looks really difficult to do and it's graphics look amazing
I like how in some games (this and dead rising off the top of my head)
The only competent people are reporters

Ulala is Top ten characters that can beat Thanos
Evila might be the ultimate reporter, but I won't watch her reports cuz her voice creeps me out

"Don't ask me. I just work here."
I felt that.
This game... so addictive... so FUNKY!
The 4 games I found with good soundtracks are this , sonic, Mario and splatoon.
"oh my poor students" - most apathetic man ever
Gets me every time :D
18:00 I swear that sound effect was used in sonic underground
WHY I CAN'T STOP WATCHING THIS!?
News reporters meet Dance Dance Revolution.

This game was so hard lol I remember that I never got pass the 35min part. Eventually I got frustrated enough that I stopped trying 🤣
I’ve been tempted, at my school talent show, to coordinate a section of this game with some friends and see how it goes from there
that would be so awesome
Well this is one silly alien invasion. Imagine XCOM with this plot... :D
Evilas dance moves are awesome
Too bad about her voice, though...
Ikr lol same name😄
Bayonetta is quaking in her heels
That game gave me a literal headache. Couldn’t barely discern any of the moves happening it was so fast. If they would have added more flow it would have been one of the best games ever.
a shoot em up version of. DDR with a controller
without a little rhythm meter to help yer timings. :)

Wow, you are fantastic at this.
I love this game.

This game is so unserious in the best way.

What a great game. bought a Sega Dreamcast just to play it in the original console.
