So here we have Space Channel 5 Part 2, a vastly improved sequel to Space Channel 5 it looks better it's a bit more forgiving and heckovallot more ridiculous. The game is still unforgiving as fuck in it's original 6th gen releases so I used a cheatcode that made the computer play the game for me caus lets be honest nobody wants to see misses in a game like this. This time you're even joined by space Michael jackson for a more significant portion of the game. The voice acting isn't quiiite as good as it was in the first game specifically your announces but nothing too terrible. I also adore the cheesetastic lyrics of the songs they came up with for the US release. They're not AS good as the Japanese ones but they absolutely fit with the game's tone and don't have any bad effect on the gameplay itself like it is with some rhythm games when they go through localization. It's such a shame the series never continued past this point cause, but Sega does remember Ulala and her swinging report show comes up as references in many future Sega games.
Janek Kazmierczak yes she is in that game. She is also an unlockable character in Sonic Riders and there’s even a stage that is partially Space Channel 5 themed!(aka one of the best/unexpected surprises of my youth since I was a big fan of Space Channel 5 lol)
Maybe it’s because she finally noticed that she’s wearing her clothes inside out and she can’t change it to put the right side out. This is an actual fact in the Part 2 Gyn Gyn Guide book that has been translated into English.
Such a wonderful playthrough you did. IO especially love how you showed off all your unlocks and profiles at the end so you know what you get when you finish the game!
this is the first time I'm hearing the english voice actor's version of purge's laugh in report 4 because the PC port only plays the japanese laugh no matter your language settings. good to know purge sounds 10x more insane in this version
I agree ulala is absolutely gorgeous. She is definitely one of my favourite all time video game crushes she truly has it all. She has stylish dance moves a pretty voice beautiful gorgeous hair and of course her sexy outfits. So me for me ulala is definitely one of the best most beautiful and gorgeous video game girls of all time. Up there with the likes of peach daisy Rosalina Samus chun li palutena numerous girls from the Pokémon series and a bunch of other beautiful and gorgeous video game girls
Notable changes: The texture quality is decreased, although not noticable besides the Player User Interface The Icon-Turn doesn't have Names Stage 2's tunnel has been given a dark shadow (looks better than dreamcast to be honest) Details have been decreased a bit Otherwise, a very faithful port for Ps2, The whole world can finally experience Space Channel 5 part 2
What happened is that the first game was released in the USA before PAL territories, but the opposite happened for Part 2, and way ahead (fun fact: the PS2 version of Part 1 was released 9 months before in Europe than in Japan, and a full year and 8 months compared to America). I have to imagine the English localisation then was handled by Sega of Europe. So aside from Apollo Smile reprising Ulala, these are all new English VAs, although I can't quite tell if they're all Europeans/UK VAs just through intonation alone. They're probably kind of relaxing their accents. It's kind of like what happened with the first Xenoblade Chronicles; the game wasn't slated originally for an American release, but Nintendo of Europe was okay publishing it, so they hired British actors for the voice acting. I like Fuze in both incarnations, although I feel his dialogue less stale in Part 2 because he has more voice lines. In Part 1 you could tell he's a black person in around his thirties, while in Part 2 he sounds more like a Jerry role from Totally Spies; white, older, kind of a mentor/father figure. I'm not sure I could say one is strictly worse than the other.
Has anyone ever thought that maybe Fuse is the name of the spaceship that sacrificed itself? Maybe its all AI with a human voice with personality programmed in?
The company decided to make the game in their Europe studios then ended up only releasing the game in Europe and America a year and 8 months before release to Japan 🗾
What’s worse is that someone on Archive of our own created a story on the part where Ulala is being held by the tentacles. But let’s just say that the tentacles did more than holding her. Look it up if you dare. Because I tell you, it’s not pretty.
I wanna point this out and I’m pretty sure a lot of people would probably ask the same question. But we see Jaguar wearing his glasses at 0:58 but is there an actual use for them? Or what?
Sometimes Japanese people or VA’s have a hard time pronouncing L or R sounds. The Space Channel 5 Part 1 JP version has a lot of examples of L/R mispronunciation.
Edited my comment because I was about to go sleep last night and I just wrote whatever came to mine. Part 2 was more pleasing to watch overall. Ulala's dance was much simpler than part 1, sometimes simple is best. Also part 2 really made sure the game prioritized fun and engaging first. Unlike Part 1 which did everything it could to be hard. Every dance set seemed to squeeze in an extra command or two, it was brutally difficult from how I saw it. And also Part 1's dance was too tedious, a combination of directions make her look like she was spazzing out. And even for something as weird and funky as a space reporter dancing to save the galaxy, part 1 was bizarre af. Most of their Bosses were way too strange. Too much elements really distracted the experience and I couldn't watch a full playthrough of part 1 without taking breaks in between.
Also Part 2 is much moire forgiving, however both dreamcast and PS2 versions are nigh unplayable on modern displays due to inherent input lag which these games do not tolerate. I was only able to record both of them with the use of a cheatcode that auto plays the game for you.
@@nikodem123asdf this is the pal version of the PS2 version I think, graphics and textures will be a little more dithered and pixely than on a Sega Saturn. It seems to be a slightly different version too, cause the children don't keep playing their instruments when you're dodging Shadow

Good news, we got a new entry in the form of a VR game on PS4

Noize's "HERE WE GO ULALA!" followed by Ulala just responding with the most unenthusiastic "Okay."

Im so happy that the moralian are now friendly
that little purple morolian who does the moro news and joined ulala in report 5 is so cute
President Peace... wow what a character! A voice so good, it made the flowers bloom!

Ulala is gorgeous
I agree with that
Daaaaamn straight she is. Fell for her hard as a kid 😂 👌
The whole reason I’m watching this is I checked my old computers browser history and saw a toooon of r34 ulala

Tokufan22 it is indeed him voicing Space Michael
This is just getting better and better XD
And the music is making me laugh XD
Yes, it is him, even in the japanese version he voiced himself, except there the game had subtitles whenever he talked.
Yeah, his character was a last minute addition in the first game.
