- Been meaning to play Space Channel 5 (both the original and Part 2) for a long time and finally got around to doing so. Both games were quite the experience playing through, Part 2 being the better of the 2 in my opinion. I plan on getting a 100% view rating on every chapter (including the extras). If you haven't played this game before I'd highly recommend it. Enjoy! ^_^

My sister kicked me out of my own room because I kept laughing at her when she couldn't beat the pudding guitar part. So many good memories with this game.

Fun fact: During instrument battles, you can press any direction and play the instrument. Pressing a different direction gives you a different animation. Not that significant, but it is a good way to put some extra pizazz into your performance.

This level is the quintessential Space Channel experience for me. A great build-up of rhythms, musical combinations, and questionable life choices, and then after you've gotten through the first 15 minutes or so if your sanity and perfect rating is still intact -- Waltz Battle!

15 solid minutes of rhythm with nearly impossible to guess hidden prompts that you need for 100%.
It's no wonder I never completed this.
+redjarman The people you rescue in the missions tell you where the hidden commands are, plus there is a code you can type in (that the game encourages you to use) that automatically hits everything correctly for you so you can see where the hidden commands are. Most of the hidden commands come on beats, offbeats, or on rhythmical cues, so as long as you tap the button along with the music you'll get almost every hidden command in the game without even having to memorize them. There's only a small handful you actually need to memorize/figure out.
Never played this game, and I've seen these in the first game too. Can someone explain what these hidden prompts are? I feel like I know this, but I don't.
Kai4life4 The hidden prompts are portions when there's no gameplay (like right at the start where Ulala's talking about the interrupted program), where you hit "Chu" at specific times. (Like after the rescues, there's a "dun dunna dunna-dunna DUN!" You hit "chu" on that final beat for extra ratings)

One of the greatest things about dance showdowns with Shadow is watching the little robot backup dancers. Those little guys are pretty much the Minions done right before the Minions even existed. XP
Watching these makes me totally wish SEGA would invest some time into a current gen release. Just the environments and graphic this game would be a sight to behold (and how can you mess up a rhythm game). Sadly, I feel that we will not see that day come anytime soon.

The Dreamcast was full of masterpieces, it is a pity I wasn't well known
I loved this game when I was younger... I wish SEGA revived this franchise and made a Part 3, in fact just a remake (not an HD Remaster) of both games would be awesome!

developers absolutely still make stuff fun and sincere like this, you just only pay attention to triple A developers so you never see the titles, sucks your you i guess, you can stick to call of duty ill actually have fun with games made with care.
There are some really nice fun games, they're created mostly by indie studios

Well, there was actually an unused ‘scream’ that wasn’t used in this level, and it was a little bit more…. sus, it’s just this and not that, there’s a video about unused audio on UA-cam, look it up and you’ll see what I mean.

I love the part where they say, "Don't ask why, just strike a pose!" Followed by the entire group absolutely killing it with fabulous poses. I love how charming this game is, it definitely deserves more recognition

This ONE game helped me improve my dancing passion, singing passion, confidence, memory and timing ability and Reaction timing. Would rate 5 stars as a childhood game.
I’m watching this at a high level of perception right now, and I’m able to see the inconsistency in timing on the computers side in the program. If you ever played this thinking it wasn’t you, and that the computer was wrong, you may have very well been right in a some cases. That is why the hardest part of this game was learning when to start the sequences when it was your turn. The variations are milliseconds, but right now I can see them.
I also miss getting her to glow pink in this one.
The biggest problem I feel is that modern LCD TVs have a lag of up to a few hundred ms compared to CRTs of the day, which basically render this game unplayable.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE LEVEL IN THE ENTIRE GAME. AND THE BIRD SONG I LOVE IT
When I was like 8 years I remember being obsessing with this game and doing like up, down, right, left, etc. I even did that in the school, kill me 😭😭. But, despite all, I remember this game with love ❤.

There’s a little spark in the top of their guitars and pudding’s animation syncs with the note hit.
There’s a note that’s not played and it tries to troll you(in the water fountain duo).
That one was a pain to get right.

I can't do the guitar battle. I'm on meds for my epilepsy and the meds slow me down..I remember playing the 1st one when I was little.
A full guide on the game:
1)Guys, you are not required to press the correct directional buttons for the guitar part. Just keep pressing the sane direction at the right moment. Hope this helps.
2) Also, if you’re struggling, use an emulator with save states. This helps a lot. Don’t play the pc version. It’s the worst way to play this game.
3) Finally, tap your feet to the rhythm. This is a strategy I heard from several players online while trying to beat the first game. It helps a lot here and it certainly helped me as well. If not, read the sound cues out loud.
I always wanted Ulala's guitar 😭 looks so awesome.

Anybody ever think about how the characters technically move to their right when they say left and vice versa?
It's for visual clarity and proper response to the controls. From their perspective, they're moving to the opposite side, but if Ulala moved left when you hit right, it wouldn't feel right
