Let your kids join a branch, that suits them, I’m planning to be a marine, ask them what they like more, teach them about every branch, and they get to choose what they like best.

Edit,I just got off the phone with the West Virginia national guard near where I live and yah the age cap is 34. Be physically in shape don't wait until you go to boot camp to get put into shape or you will seriously hate your life choices. Same for arty & mech inf guys. Almost Every *light* infantryman I've ever met looked like they were starving to death,& support MOSs were all over the place. Every single one,on active duty at least (NOT guard or reserve weekend warriors) male or female,tall or short, rail thin or fat as a cow/BARELY making regs or slightly outside of them,were passing physical fitness tests every few months that would kill these pissant civilians who make jokes bc very, very few of US look like John Cena. 😂😅
After I took that battery of tests for the military branches in 1974 an Air Force recruiter came out to my high school trying to get me to enlist for some electronics program they had. I went Army following in my dad's and most of my uncles footsteps.
Air Force is considered the best branch to join because of the quality of life; training, on-base amenities, barracks, food, and benefits. Air Force personnel have it much better off than every other branch, but Army especially; the quality of life of Army personnel is considerably worse. In fact, it's so bad that a rumor was started that Air Force personnel get compensation for having to stay in Army barracks. Depending on your interests, the Army may be best for you because of the better career growth, but if you're looking for a comfortable stay, Air Force is absolutely the smartest decision.

I had a shaving profile(medical permission to not shave) my last 2 years active duty. I got out in 1981 and I still get ingrown hair. My sister doesn't like to see guys with facial hair and will ask me when am I going to shave. I'll then ask her if she's going to come and tend to my ingrown hair. Of course she says no. It's also been awhile since she's asked. I was turned down by a couple of trucking companies in the early 1990's because I have facial hair. When one of them, J. B. Hunt, changed their policy they started calling me and sending paperwork in the mail. Even after I was medically retired in 2018 I got them for awhile.🤦🏽♂️ I told their recruiter not hiring someone because they have facial hair in my opinion is a form of discrimination. It wasn't my choice to have the kind of hair I have.🤷🏼♂️
