Ah, The Loop! Alongside other well known sites treasured by railroad fans like Horseshoe Curve, this to me is an American Icon. Terrific job as always my friend! Always look forward to your posts.
Thanks! I'm very, very happy this video came out well. The loop was one of the key locations I wanted to cover on this trip and, fortunately, UP and BNSF were cooperative. However, the entire loop area is private property and off-limits, so long shots were the only option. But the wind blew hard and made filming a real challenge. You still hear the wind noise in the video, but I have already reduced the noise level substantially in the post-production - in addition to the noise reduction that the camcorder did by itself. There's still a lot more footage to come from this SoCal trip and much of it is simply amazing. I'm looking forward to presenting it to the friends of my channel as soon as I can :)
I really enjoyed watching this video thank you for sharing this video with us train lovers and your viewers you waiting for the next videos that you share with us really enjoyed watching you
Many thanks. I'm happy you enjoyed watching it. There's a lot more material from rail lines in SoCal in the queue and I'll work hard to make it available asap, piece by piece :)
Amazing Video, that one extremely long train was literally wrapped in on itself going underneath the tunnel and still not seeing the last vehicle in the process!!!!!
Excellent. I appreciated the different angles/positions for each train so we could better understand the size and scope of this loop. With 40 trains per day, I bet that single-line section up to and through the tunnel is a real bottleneck!
Many thanks, it’s nice you like the video style. Given there are extended maintenance windows in summer, it’s really a challenge to handle the traffic efficiently. During my visit I had the impression UP does a great job dispatching, though.
Awesome video!! Very famous railfan location.several model railroads have been built of it over the years, in fact the trains you filmed looked like models.
Thanks for the video I appreciate it. I enjoy watching close up action but this was perfect. The scenery was beautiful and the shots of the trains were very well done. I was wondering was it difficult to get to location where you shot this video? Nicely done MBMARS.
Awesome, thanks. Reaching the loop by car is somewhat sophisticated, but not a big deal. There is a small parking area where the historical landmark markers stand, but the view isn't great (power lines!). So, I climbed some of the nearby hills for the better shots.
Nice video. The loop is always a great place to watch trains. I was there a couple of weeks ago. If you ever come to Northern California maybe we could meet up.
That was some great filming, I love The View of how you filmed it. The trains look like snakes going into a coil. My favorites as always is the military train. I was a great way to film the train overall that awesome good view. By far this video is the most amazing one you ever filmed. Let's see if you could outdo yourself again.👍👍
Thank you! I think, the most recent video is always one of the most exciting, but the location was definitely unique here (and the videoing challenge as well). There will be more stuff like this (some may even be more impressive) in future videos.
Not bad, but you missed UP's Q-RVWC lumber drag. That one quite often will run with 3x3, but with the DPU's mid-train. It puts on quite a show at the loop.
Great video sir!! Awesome shots sir! Keep up the great work sir!! I saw Ns 8101 again a couple weeks ago it needs a wash!! Do u usually see dpus on your Norfolk southern line sir?
Thank ya! Cool you got 8101 again. Haven't seen her in a while. Haven't seen any Norfolk Southern train in some time... But, yeah, some do have DPUs here at times.
Access is not easy and I think they already came up with the idea of building a watching platform near the road, where the view is actually not perfect, though. The main problem is that the area surrounding the loop is private property and actually fenced in.
Wind is part of the being-outdoors experience. I have reduced the noise level to an extent that it is not annoying anymore, but I ain't gonna extinguish it completely.
After watching the video, it's obvious why the Santa Fe was so interested in merging with Southern Pacific; there were more BNSF trains than UP trains in this video on a UP subdivision.
It's just a video counter using a unique code of numbers (0-9), capital letters (A-Z) and small letters (a-z), in this order. So the base is 62 and with two digits only I can encode 62*62=3,844 videos (a number I'll probably never reach). The code for this video, 6t, represents video number 6*62+(10+26+20)=428. The channel currently contains 433 videos, but the 5 promotional trailers don't have a number. This system helps me (and others) keeping track of my videos and was very helpful when I had to fight hundreds of copyright violations in past years.
mbmars01 Thank you 🙏 my friend and I’m glad to be here where I belong several years ago I was stopped at the tracks for a passing freight train and the lead units was two e9’s from Union Pacific how awesome was that?
I've said it before Mars I'll say it again I love the video it's fantastic and I'm glad to see that you're doing well. By the way I caught a CSX autorack at Comer siding I have two videos of it
@@mbmars01 well I've never really been able to decipher their coding system for the trains so I've always gone off the signals or by the afternoon times where I've always caught the trains running at
Thank you! Mountain weather without wind is like a railroad without trains. I like my videos to be authentic, without being annoying. I have significantly reduced the wind noise level in the post-processing process (and the camcorder have already a filter), but I didn't want to extinguish it entirely, because it's part of the experience. In fact, the very strong winds on this hilltop made filming really challenging, particularly the long shots.
I’m not a railroad employee and information about which trains are running this line at any given time is not publically available. Also, unlike other railroads, BNSF and UP crews do not call their symbols when passing signals.

Very cool, thanks. I was impressed that they manage to handle these long trains in this terrain.

Indeed, it all looked like a setup for a model railroad and I could have produced some of the footage on my own layout lol, but it's all real.
Excellent. Great angles great video. Can't wait for your next one. Thank you for sharing your adventures. 😎😎😎 really cool.

Just added this site to my list of the next places to visit when I pull my camper out west again!
That's a great idea. It's also worth spending some time in the area.
Amazing video and what a loop
Thanks!

Actually, the first segment was shot at Monolith about 4 miles from Tehachapi.
Right, but that's not really a town, isn't it? It looks like it's part of Tehachapi.

Not as majestic as the SP and ATSF era, but still a railroading must-see. Great video!
Absolutely. Good you enjoyed the video.
One my son and I, who live real close to they, are going to kick it all day there. That is my bucket list item.
Yep.
I'd like to live in one of the houses down by the tracks.
Me too.
I'm amazed that they havent made this have a park like the one that horseshoe curve has

Please invest in a microphone wind screen if you plan on filming any more desert scenes.

It would’ve been great if a couple of gp9’s had been placed in the middle of the consist or at the end as helper units and I will be subscribing
I agree, it’s always nice to see something different. Cool, welcome to this channel!
