Dan, It’s so great that you get time with your Dad! Lost mine a year and a half ago. Treasure the time you have! I know you do! It’s amazing to see the two of you together, enjoying the outdoors! How old is your father? Did you get some of your love of rocks from him? Thanks Dan. Keep sharing your adventures!
^^^^^^^This. I lost my dad last November and my mom in 1996. Cherish your parents and the time you have with them. Build good relationships and good memories, we never know how long we have with them. Do the same for your child's. Spend time with them, find a common interest like fishing, hiking, science, cars, or in this case prospecting. Your time and love are the biggest gifts you can give them.
have you ever done an episode on how you get a claim? I know that paperwork isn't as exciting as finding gold, but I'm curious how that side of prospecting works :)
You are SOOO cool Dan!! .. I wish I was like you, but I'm disabled (nerve damage so my legs don't work so great) I can still cycle though, but I lost my Jeep so no vehicle for the last 5 years ..... And have three adult kids at home (one is special needs and can't be left alone) also I'm a single Dad because my wife got sick and died at 40 ... But I think you and I are around the same age ... When I am rich enough to get a car again .. I'm getting an rebuilt 1940's army jeep and planning to get my prospectors license! .. and be morel like you!! :) Out and about, fresh air and exercise!! My eldest daughter is old enough to the household now :) so I'm starting to get more freedom :)
Glad you mentioned at 4:41 that it was in May, I was just like 'Where the hell are you that there's still snow in July?!' Still, looks like you and your dad had a good time. Good for you!
I love using the nice thinner slates of thunder eggs to make wind chimes after they are polished up real nice and pretty much thin enough to see through..they look spectacular and I have made some good money off selling them. They are relatively cheap to make and sell fairly quickly..people seem li love them.. especially in spots where the sun light can shine through them when hung up.
You are so lucky to have adventures with your dad. You should consider going with your son Evan as well, three generations out having an adventure together... priceless. 🙂

Always love seeing you and your dad having a great adventure, Dan! It may be strange to say, but I also really appreciate your care and safety during these trips. I know so many people who would have tried to go through the snow, or not take enough precautions in a certain setting and probably gotten themselves in a real dangerous spot or have an exceptionally close call. Makes me a lot more comfortable watching you wander the wilds knowing you have a smart head on your shoulders!
That kind of reminds me of Tehachapi, high desert where nothing but sagebrush grows.. well and down there Joshua Trees and cacti too. In the US kitty litter is mostly made of bentonite clay... perlite is mostly used in potting soil to retain moisture.

Please keep showing us these beautiful places and the amazing finds.
I love seeing Doug on your adventures, the common sense of an old woodsman and the delightful banter with his son. Reminds me of my dad before he passed. My mom got him to stop cuttin timber when he was in his late sixties but he never slowed down. He'd slip off to work with my brothers and I when he could talk mom into it. Come back a month later loaded with cash cause he didn't drink and his eyes were only for my mom. You and I are lucky men Dan in that our fathers took an interest in us and what we were up to and I don't know about you, but poppa taught me the most I know and I'm grateful for it.
I'm only half way through the video and am in awe at the stunning landscape you guys are exploring. There's likely not many people in many miles around you, a near wilderness. I'm sure that like me, many people love your vids showcasing these beautiful areas.

@@Danhurd man, I feel bad for cats back then lol & the owners. That's crazy they would use perlite. They use some weird stuff now days I don't think is safe for cats. That cat crystal litter & a couple others.. thanks for the information though 🍄💜 Dan! Love your channel & all the adventures you provide for us.
@@Danhurd lol did you get rid of that scammer or did I? I'm aware it wasn't you. It's sad they're like roaches all over youtube & youtube does absolutely nothing about them. Kind of suspicious...

I'd love to go on an outing like this 🥰 I wouldn't need to keep anything, just learning and helping and hanging out would be so fun.
I purposely look away during the first 10-20 seconds because I don't want the preview of the episode's adventures. thanks for being awesome Dan.
Agate Creek in far North Queensland Australia is a massive area of Thunder Eggs.
Thank you for taking us along. I have a weird bubbly rock that I was told was geode but now I wonder if it is a thunderegg.
That shot of you crossing the bridge reminded me of crossing the OLD Mississippi bridge when I was a teen (more than 45 years ago). I cringed every time I met an 18-wheeler coming toward me.
DANG!!! That bridge spanning Frazier river would be the best place to discard crime scene evidence.
What is my fellow prospectors happy sunday
Back in 2000-2003 I was on a job that was landscaping the LDS conference center in downtown Salt Lake City it has terraces up the side and a prairie on the rooftop and they use the stuff the perlite and Pete Moss as what they used for dirt because it’s really lighter than dirt
