I saw Sade several years ago. I'M a bass player and guitar player. Her entire band was one of the best I ever saw. Her bass player was amazing. She is a Nigerian princess.

The dynamics of putting the guitars up front instead of laid back in the mix like on the studio version really gives this a whole new charge !
I will never forget the day I heard this updated song in concert , It felt so unreal that I decided I will never go to another concert in my life , because there will never be an experience that will better this one.

And at the same time, she's humble and prefers being mother to her family. She's a phantom artist! She records an album every 8-10 years, which always generates several hit singles! And then she tours and disappears for another 8-10 years.

Some of my favorite Sade songs are: "Kiss Of Life", "Maureen" and of course "Smooth Operator". As I was reading the comments, I saw that Felix KM Galanti recommended a few of my favorites. Which are, Basia, Corrine Drewery (Swing Out Sister), Tracey Thorn (Everything But The Girl) and Bebel Gilberto. Some of my favorite songs from them are:

The electric guitar isn’t just there in “this” version . It’s there in the original version too it’s just more understated in that version. The just pushed the guitar to the forefront for sections of this performance because it engages the audience so well. I personally thing this is the BEST version of this song
