Diane, Gayle is a treasure and I try to spread the word about her as much as I can, she inspired me to start my Etsy shop and have the confidence to show my artistic side to the world.
Ceri, I adore your creative process! These cards are gorgeous. Thank you for sharing the "how and why" of the choices you make as an artist. The explanations you provide both demystify the artistry and build confidence in your viewers. I'm definitely going to try gelli printing soon!
Before ATCs and all the rest, I used to order ultra-cheap business cards and do mini collages on them. I'd seal them in an acrylic medium as protection. People loved them and I found all sorts of uses for my mini-art. One Ceri does not mention are places like doctors' offices that need you to confirm your information, even some hotels where you made e-reservations. Also, it was cool when I met someone new and wanted them to get in touch. The most fun were restaurants and other places that had prize drawings. Mine were personal, not for a business so that's an option for everyone.
Years (and years!!) ago I did commissioned watercolors and taught watercolor- I had such a blast throwing in backgrounds on full-size watercolor paper. Then I’d take them to the local printshop to be printed and cut into my business cards- each snd every one, a tiny original. Unheard of at the time. They still turn up now and again- so fun 😊
Deb, PM Artist Studio and I are working on my new stencil and mask range and believe me within a few months there will be quite the collection and I will be using my own designs more and more as they become available and I’m so excited about that. I plan to do launch videos for each stencil as they come out however the British postal system is holding up those videos and on top of that with the holiday season hurtling towards us time is precious…..but they will get done.
Ordered your stencil , I love harlequin anything. I have used odds and ends of my paintings as business cards for years. Now I’ll do gelli prints also. Great idea.
Still catching up on your posts from the last few months and just watched this. Such a great idea! I love that these business cards are unique and stand out. I so enjoyed watching your process and your explanation was clear. I have not done this type of artwork, very interesting. I look forward to more of your work. Have a wonderful month!
Thank you for sharing. I make gelli print hang cards for my handmade jewelry. I love how e each one looks different and I can make them to compliment each piece of jewelry. I never thought of making business cards however. Thank you for sharing this idea and for sharing another gelli printing video with us.
you are such a great teacher....love how you make it look easy and simple with a great results. THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge and artistic talent.
Love this idea for original cards. Thank you! Slowly working my way through your video library and almost every one teaches me something. kudos! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🇨🇦
Stamping the personal info in the top left corner is a great idea. I often add something to the back of the business card that I hand out, since I often use my card to refer the recipient to a resource. Great video!
When I need an idea, you never fail to provide inspiration. I have birthday money burning a whole in my pocket, heading over to PM Artists to get some stencils. As always, thanks for sharing.
Once again, you have not disappointed. By the way, I have three of your wonderful stencils from PM Artists, and I hope to play with them tomorrow. Thank you for everything!
What a fantastic idea!! I don't have an actual business yet, but I do make things for people occasionally. I work full time so don't have a lot of time to run my own business also without sacrificing my family and health right now.
I recently discovered your channel and you have inspired me to experiment with collage, color combos, etc. I just bought my 1st gelli plate and can’t wait to try it too! Thank you!!!
Susie, just have fun with your new plate, watch’s lots of different artists videos to see what can be done with it and understand not every print will be great, all of us have those prints we end up putting aside and revisiting another day.
Brilliant! I’ve already done some of these and they came out great. I used avery business card paper. Thanks so much for yet another excellent tutorial!
Beautiful Ceri! I love your new stencil... I'm excited for the premier!! These are also great to use as price tags on large items for a craft sale! Still with your info... just add the price My niece is an artist and she displays some of her pieces in tourist area restaurants and businesses and she adds her business card to them with the price to make it easy for the business.
Wow, Gorgeous once again. What a great idea for business cards (and of course so much more 🤔) I also use cheap face cloths from the dollar store when I'm painting. Mind you I only use watercolors or acrylics.
I know you can’t hear me when I tell you to stop, but I’m not as brave as you. When it looks good, I stop🤣🤣 You always do well, I enjoy watching you😉🥰🙏🏻
Not my original idea but one I’ve done for a few years and I’m certain many others have also done it but the designs will always be one of a kind. Thank you.
Love your Harlequin stencil. I need that one for sure. I love this video. What a fabulous idea!!! The artwork on back will definitely remind them who you are and what you do also. Which is important. My son is a photographer. He does a lot of abstract photos. I'm going to show him this video. I thought it would be cool to do this with some of his photos. These all came out so great. Thank you so much. I don't need business cards, but I love these anyway. Would be great to give with a handmade gift. I do a lot of those. TFS! Austin,TX USA
I love this Ceri! I made something similar with some collage I had done on a watercolor paper, then I sealed it and cut them as business cards. They looked nice, the only thing is that I did what you mentioned about the label, I printed labels with my info and stuck it to the back, and as you said, since the white of the label was not the same white as the watercolor paper, it didn't look quite good or cohesive. I didn't know there was such a thing as transparent labels :), thank you for this idea with the gelli prints, I might try it!
Thanks dear Ceri❣️I love watching you create on the Gelli plate, in fact I hope to try my hand at it soon. Business cards...great idea! I didn't realize there was a standard size difference in the UK. Hugs y'all from Texas just north of Corpus Christi 🤠
Rene, you could but at the end of the day its a business card the first impression is the most important after that people accept wear and tear in their bag or packet.
Thank you Ceri another fantastic video you’ve given me a idea I make cards and gift tags I’ve got 12 x 12 ds cards stock I don’t like I could use that a business cards just put white card on the back and a Thank you for your order if I sell them Thanks again for your inspiration ❤️
I absolutely love watching you Gelli print. I’m getting closer to trying the gel plate I bought months ago 😱. The only thing that stops me is, what do I do with the finished print. I make, cards, gift bags and boxes etc, and all my finished items are piling up and I don’t know what to do with them🤷🏼♀️
Janet this isn’t a finite list but this video has some of my favourite ideas….and theres many more as you’re seeing in my currrent videos. ua-cam.com/video/f8Iv9dAbvKE/v-deo.html
Ceri, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing you create your stunning business cards. So unique. What paper do you suggest to do the gelli printing on? Also what paper for backing please? Well done!!!
Julie, as you know you can gel print onto almost anything, my personal preference is to create on 12x12 250gsm cards stock, as I always get the backs of my prints messy I then back them with paper, I tend to go for a white presentation paper as its a little less transparent…….I’ve also backed with old book pages, pages from old art pads basically anything that I think will suit the purpose and cover up my messy paint marks.
i'M GOING BACK THROUGH OLDER VIDEOS AND ENJOYING IT GREATLY. tHIS IS JUST WHAT i NEED, SO THANKYOU VERY MUCH FOR SHARING. Sorry bout the caps, cat walked over the keyboard earlier and didn't see caps on 😃😺
Wow!!! These cards turned out spectacularly!!! I would love to go to an event where you were teaching for lots of reasons, but surely so I could say" do you have a business card I may have?". lol. No matter where you put your art work, it's grand. Thank you Ceri for showing us another way to use jelly prints. Wishing you and yours many blessings!!!
To be honest sometimes I back the cards prior to cutting other times I do it later. The paper or card I back them with depends on how thick the image is but it’s normally about postcard weight.
Love this! It appears as though your gelli plates are on plexi? Can you tell me your layout and why? I just got my 1st gelli plate and have been watching your videos. Thank you!
Lisa you’re correct I have my geli plates on plexiglass so that I can lift and move them around easily for filming purposes but theres also another reason I like them on clear plexiglass and that is if I wish to print onto a larger piece of art where placement is important I can turn the plate over and see where’re I’m positioning it.
Jerald, I’m a member of the Mixed Media Art & Artist group run by P.M. Artist Studio and they do regular swaps but of different things each month, thats the only one I knows of. I’m bad with links but this should take you there facebook.com/groups/2463741310607684/about/
I’ve been doing this for a few years now and I know I wasn’t the originator of the idea but I have no idea who was…..possibly before UA-cam even. Thank you
Hey Ceri, loved this, thank you. Just a thought: because you have an overhang on one side of your plate and a shortage on the other side, do you think by turning your gelli plate on the plexiglass 90 degrees that that may solve the problem?
*** QUESTION: I have not used my gel plate yet cuz I didn't have paints. I just got a box set Arteza paints. But I didn't get any transparent paints cuz I can't seem to find them. *** IS IT WORTH doing gel plate without any transparent paints??? *** Or should I just wait??? Thanks!! Austin,TX USA
Barbara you can gel print without transparent paints however you need to remember every layer you put on will cover up the previous layer, you could create a collection of backgrounds to be printed over later when you do have transparent paints. You could even try using a very thin layer of paint which should give you the appearance of slight transparency.
Very clever. I don't have gel Prints but I can figure out something else creative for the back. And as far as my name and address and that information goes I would use an Avery template for business card and use hit and have by 11 sheet of paper to make my business cards off of. Then I can just print the Avery sheet and glue it to my art sheet. I hope that makes sense. Love this video
Ceri, this is a fabulous idea! I especially like the idea of using the clear labels with the info!!! During the video when you were talking about the small white border on the 12 x 12 piece, have you ever tried "kissing" the small plate that has color to see if that will help cover the white? Just curious!!!!!
Yes and I do do that occasionally its just hard to line up when videoing because I’d have to get my head in the shot to look down on the print and do it.
Love this idea, but I am not in business so, I thought about making a set of personalized playing cards. My family all play cards especially at family gatherings. I think they would love to have a handmade set. I am trying to figure out how to make them a but slippery. I have no luck with mod podge in my climate it is sticky. Anyone out there have any ideas.
Janice thats a wonderful idea, as for sticky from mod podge when I work in my art journal and when I’ve finished creating a page I then give it a coating a satin varnish for acrylic paint, when that’s fully dry for me in my climate then its no longer stick, not sure if that may be the solution.
👁👁. CERI: I am sooo excited over this style - sooo very unlike my usual‼️ I have no use for business cards ... However, I do have a great need for POSTCARDS‼️‼️‼️ ✅ I can use traditional sheets of 8 1/2 x 11, cut into equal quarters of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 , the common USA Postcard size‼️ (no waste) ✅ I will then ink-stamp Greetings & Phrases plus solid, outline, collage paper bits, and absolutely, inked silhouettes in black - white - ivory AND any of the new-on-market inks❣️❤️❣️ ✅ I may need to take my ORIGINALS TO PRINT SHOP & have printed/cut into “4- Up” on heavier stock for Postal Regulations, than found in our local stores. Gotta contain myself - heart 💜, nearly 80 years old ... Your most loyal fan in Arizona 🌵, USA 🇺🇸, Nov 2022. THANK YOU 🙋♀️
Dianne, thats a fabulous idea, the one thing I always do with my postcards is I put them in an envelope to be mailed because they can be damaged and some may even get stolen as they are unique pieces of art.
@@CeriGriffiths 👁👁 You are the artist with a NAME so I can understand you mailing them in envelopes. (Transparent ones?) ✅ Original is Filed in Page Protector, face up. ✅ Back of Page is “Recipient Info Form” with NAME - DESIGN #1,2,3,4 - DATE MAILED and OCCASION + TECH NOTES if needed. I usually have 2 copies printed & cut, at same time = 8 cards ready for final mailing detail. Reason: Tucson/Area is small so is USA 🇺🇸. (I do not have your worldwide postal needs) PS ✅ 🤫 I’ve been known to slice postcard in half for an encl. bookmark 🔖 with cord/ribbons attached. ✅ OR slightly trimmed/glued to a Greeting card ... 🙆♀️ Dianne
Wanda you can make them and there are videos on UA-cam about how to make them but they’re made from food products and can break down over time I also feel I don’t want to work with food in my art room. I buy mine on the internet from companies such as GelPress who make gel plates in various sizes, these are commercially made and not made from food products therefore will last a lifetime if they are looked after correctly. I would suggest doing a search for gel printing or gel press on UA-cam to get a variety of videos which will show you how one can be used.
Great idea!
I hope you have a delightful day. Love&hugs to you and Biscuit.
Thank you Darcy
Hi Ceri. I have been wanting to thank you for introducing Gayle I am addicted to her videos. Such a nice lady. Thx so very much. Great video as usual.

Thank you, I had it created in three sizes, because its great for anything from ATC’s to full 12x12 backgrounds. Thank you
@@CeriGriffiths As soon as I decide what size, it will be in my shopping cart for a Christmas gift to ME!
Striking idea on your business cards. Colourful art designs from an artist. The variety will always remain one of a kind.

I really love this! It's brilliant and you made it look fantastic!
Thank you Julie.
Thanks!
You’re welcome
Love this idea, but I am not in business so, I thought about making a set of personalized playing cards. My family all play cards especially at family gatherings. I think they would love to have a handmade set. I am trying to figure out how to make them a but slippery. I have no luck with mod podge in my climate it is sticky. Anyone out there have any ideas.
I love your idea of cards! Would laminating the cards be an option?
Rub the sticky with wax and buff. You could try a candle if that’s what you have, or buy some Dorlands wax.
Janice thats a wonderful idea, as for sticky from mod podge when I work in my art journal and when I’ve finished creating a page I then give it a coating a satin varnish for acrylic paint, when that’s fully dry for me in my climate then its no longer stick, not sure if that may be the solution.
A coating a satin varnish for acrylic paint will prevent the stickiness.
A coating a satin varnish for acrylic paint will prevent the stickiness as well.
👁👁. CERI: I am sooo excited over this style - sooo very unlike my usual‼️ I have no use for business cards ... However, I do have a great need for POSTCARDS‼️‼️‼️
✅ I can use traditional sheets of 8 1/2 x 11, cut into equal quarters of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 , the common USA Postcard size‼️
(no waste)
✅ I will then ink-stamp Greetings & Phrases plus solid, outline, collage paper bits, and absolutely, inked silhouettes in black - white - ivory AND any of the new-on-market inks❣️❤️❣️
✅ I may need to take my
ORIGINALS TO PRINT SHOP
& have printed/cut into “4- Up”
on heavier stock for Postal
Regulations, than found in
our local stores.
Gotta contain myself -

THANK YOU 🙋♀️
Dianne, thats a fabulous idea, the one thing I always do with my postcards is I put them in an envelope to be mailed because they can be damaged and some may even get stolen as they are unique pieces of art.
@@CeriGriffiths 👁👁 You are the artist with a NAME so I can understand you mailing them in envelopes. (Transparent ones?)
✅ Original is Filed in Page Protector, face up.
✅ Back of Page is “Recipient Info Form” with NAME - DESIGN
#1,2,3,4 - DATE MAILED and OCCASION + TECH NOTES
if needed.
I usually have 2 copies printed & cut, at same time = 8 cards ready for final mailing detail.
Reason: Tucson/Area is small so is USA 🇺🇸. (I do not have your worldwide postal needs)
PS ✅ 🤫 I’ve been known to slice postcard in half for an encl. bookmark 🔖 with cord/ribbons attached. ✅ OR slightly trimmed/glued to a Greeting card ... 🙆♀️ Dianne
Don't know what a gelli plate is, or how to make one?
Wanda you can make them and there are videos on UA-cam about how to make them but they’re made from food products and can break down over time I also feel I don’t want to work with food in my art room. I buy mine on the internet from companies such as GelPress who make gel plates in various sizes, these are commercially made and not made from food products therefore will last a lifetime if they are looked after correctly. I would suggest doing a search for gel printing or gel press on UA-cam to get a variety of videos which will show you how one can be used.
