50th broadcast since Feb, wow! Always inspired by you as a person and your beautiful journals. Your combined sketchbooks are better than the glossy coffee table books we tend to gush over. It’s amazing how you take patterns and colours you love and combine them into amazing art. Can easily see how one concertina sketchbook could form one large exciting canvas. Your creations never fail to give me a lift, a sprinkle of happiness. It’s hard for some of us to push ourselves forward, especially in a world that is increasingly public. Thank you Helen, for posting these videos. Jan x
Oh wow thank you. Yes it is 50 videos, thank you, I haven't made all these since February though, I had quite a lot already made which were on my website that I've put here too....I'm still quite slow at making videos... Thank you so much for all your lovely positivity and encouragement it means a lot. xx
I love these videos. I also love your book. I spent 6 weeks working through your book. I treated it like an art retreat at home. It was so interesting and I learned so much. For example, I now understand and love the use of negative space. Thank you so much for your generosity.
Oh wow Glenda, that is just wonderful. I'm so happy and very grateful. Thank you so much and wishing you every success with your art based adventures xx
Oh thank you Bridgette. That’s kind. I think I can fill a concertina in an afternoon (only one side) because I use a lot of collage so a lot of it is stuck in! Thank you x
I am so inspired by what you said about the concertina sketchbooks, about how you can fold art together in a different way and see new dimensions. I know what I will be making this afternoon!
I have the slightly larger concertina sketchbook by the same brand and it is so enjoyable to use! And now since taking your workshop (highly recommended!!) I cannot stop making the little art books! Thank you Helen! 😍
i have commented on your channel recently but just wanted to say how much i appreciate your videos and the approach you take in your teaching!! there are lessons that have taken me years to learn and hone in and just now learning to let go of perfectionism or 'should be's this video is very aligned with the path i'm on right now and so so grateful for your content. thank you!! ps i see some comments mentioning your book, will def check it out!
Oh what a lovely comment. Thank you for your kindness. I really appreciate it. I think listening to our own instinct over and above all those ‘shouldn’t is not always an easy lesson to learn…wishing you lots of luck with all your creative endeavours x
Same here. I read about the book in the comments, and looked it up. It sounds like a lot of fun, and having now seen some of Helen's videos, I don't doubt it IS fun. Definitely on my wishlist now.
Love your art and your color combinations. The details on favorite sketchbooks was helpful. Would you consider in future videos going into detail about the colors, medium and other art supplies you use most often?
Another fantastic Video! Ive learnt so much from you. I also use it for reference now when making bigger work. I’ve just purchased the bigger sketchbook . Thanks so very much for sharing with us 🙏🏾♥️
Thank you. I've been wondering about what sketchbooks you use and I was curious about what benefit there is to a concertina sketchbook. As usual, your art is so beautiful and inspiring!
Oh...I have been so guilty of buying new sketchbooks/supplies when I don't like what I've done. As if abandoning the book will make me better...so counterintuitive!
I do both. Somethings I make the book from an old paintings or a piece of paper with some paint on it and sometimes I create the art after I’ve created the book.

What kind of paper sketchbook is it? Is it called Mixed Media or Sketching paper?
@@angelicaescalera2941 I used a mixed media sketchbook by Strathmore

Helen, do you draw and paint on the paper before you make your own book?
I do both. Somethings I make the book from an old paintings or a piece of paper with some paint on it and sometimes I create the art after I’ve created the book.
