1:56 Creating a new multi-surface feature in mill part setup of the feature tree. All 3 axis features are multi-surface features.
2:46 Why to use "all displayed" to pick features 95% of the time.
4:08 Selecting a strategy when creating features in feature tree.
4:55 Selecting operations by right clicking feature.
    6:02 Tuning area clearance by:
7:04 Opening advanced tab in operation parameters and adjusting the automatic contain area.
8:04 Remove lead-ins and lead-outs in entry/retract tab to better see toolpath
8:38 Choose pattern path pattern in pattern tab.
9:48 Area clearance tab adjusting cut depth and allowance.
10:55 Trying volumill instead of adaptive as a pattern.
12:59 Second rouging pass using a z-level strategy.
15:13 The importance of information in 3 axis, surface based toolpaths.
15:54 Pattern project allows the use of guide curves.
16:49 Adding a contain area on operation in operation tree.
17:41 Changing ramps to plunge to better assess toolpath.
18:01 Relationship between links and rapid moves.
19:00 Adjusting stepover/surface finish in pattern tab of operation parameters.
19:22 Using Flowline toolpath pattern-selecting guide curves.
22:04 Mitigating tool holder gouging by enabling holder avoidance in advanced tab of operation parameters.
20:20 Rightclick/Shift to start simulation from a work in progress (WIP).
23:00 Creating a planar surface to cap features to avoid cutting them.
24:30 Second model. New model workflow.
25:10 Creating an avoid/contain area from a sketch.
25:58 Converting sketch to a fit spline.
    26:43 Constant stepover operation.
    29:16 Combination contain/avoid area.

32:16 Pattern project. Setting zero on a spiral path.
32:52 Creating a contain area using an edge.
33:50 Adding offset cuts to the toolpath in the finish tab of operation parameters.
34:12 Second pattern project cut with a radial pattern.
36:03 Tweaking the contain area in the advanced tab of the operation parameters.
    37:53 More decorative toolpath.
    40:26 Pencil mill strategy.
    42:12 Adjusting links again.

Excellent video. I particularly liked how you demonstrated a toolpath type and then "fiddled" with it one setting at a time with previews and explanations. Very useful.

I've been digging through your camworks videos and finding lots of good information. Hoping to dig into some 4/5 axis stuff soon. Just got my license updated with those capabilities. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Justin! I have a 4th axis video but not a lot of 5-axis. Good luck and feel free to shoot over any questions you might have

Excellent webinar. I enjoy your videos a lot. With regards to the coordinate setup, I use Camworks for solid edge 2018, when ever I have a model that I need to program , the coordinate setup is one of the first things you do in the workflow, but when i need to make a small adjustment to a sketch or even just open a sketch and close it again with no changes made, The program seems to "lose" the coordinate setup and gives a n exclamation mark on the setup. So I end up have to go and re-select a face as reference for the coordinate setup. What can cause this? Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

coordinate setup on this (you mentioned it was already set) I have a issue with camworks -> mach3 (sherline) and i am unsure where /how to approach the problem. everyhing in my g-code works fine except when i call the perimeter tool path tool change (10mm flat end). for some reason the machine retacts and hits it limit switches- this shows in on Mach3 but i have no idea how to suppress or how this would happen via post processing - any points of where to start would be great

Can you explain/elaborate on CAMWORKS "Legacy Rough Mill" & "Legacy Finish Mill"? I can't find information on these anywhere....thank you for the above video btw!

Originally those were the only two 3-axis operations in CAMWorks. They were kept to retain compatibility with legacy programs but are now less favored than the other available operations.

how to enable pattern project on solidworks cam? i cant find it in multisurface feature

    • @goengineer
      @goengineer  Рік тому

That feature is not available in SolidworksCAM, you have to move up to the CAMworks tools to be able to get that feature. Check with your sale rep to get more specifics about what level of CAMworks you will need.
