    Volumill is good on new machines. But for our old machines. We can only have about 3500 lines of code TOTAL. That means, we have to optimize for lines of code as well as time.

    I like the idea of 3 Axis roughing, I specifically seem to get a lot of pockets. But its when there is a pocket with a bunch of other features inside of it including curves and tight hallways, I cant seem to figure out. Volumill and adaptive dont seem to want to make a full slot even if I want it to because it should be okay. Do people just settle for 80% removal and then come back with some 2.5 axis paths to clean up the remainder?

      That really depends on the application. For some things roughing is good enough, other times it maybe further post processed by things like EDM. If full 3axis machining is something that is required by the application we would move from Solidworks CAM to full on CAMworks for the extra functionality.

    first attempt at this snapped the cutter and shut the machine down. screamed for 10 seconds and boom.
