Different strokes for different folks. As a mod, BTW has much more content than just this, and it's all very interesting. While it generally does slow down progression in comparison to vanilla Minecraft, but it also greatly extends the progression and everything does feel hard earned, instead of you being able to get to endgame in an in-game week and having nothing to strive for afterwards.

Better than Wolves only works with Minecraft 1.5.2, which is intentional. It's aimed at keeping the original survival feeling the game had in the past.
I really like this mod, but pointy stick and sharp rock should require more than themselves to be made, finding stones on the ground to sharp the stick and using other stones to sharp a rock could be a way for them to do this, and to make it more realistic as well, they could make so you can get sticks from the leaves or even find them around instead of punching a tree until you get one

Also some of those things I would've totally died multiple times over if attempted / happened to me, you long time BTW players are crazy. :)
I'm basically playing my modded world right now like this but without this mod. I roleplay all semirealistic things myself but the main thing about that world is that i'm a werewolf, so i can get enough strenght to lift a block or two at a time and hunt and fight modded mobs. My objective is now building a house before winter arrives so i can heat the house enough to not freeze without burning an entire forest, and i'm at day 120 and i'm still at the beginning of the roof. Actually one of the best worlds i've ever did, taking so long and so much effort to do basic things is very satisfying, almost addicting, like playing minecraft for the first time. I think i'm gonna use this playstyle in many other worlds. Inventory is only what you can hold in your hand, until you get: a bucket for holding 3x4 items, or a backpack for 3x4 items. As a werewolf from howling moon i can lift a boat above my head where i can put 9x4 items or 2 blocks of anything, or lift a block alone, but it costs a lot of hunger, and can eat 9x4 mob drops and vomit them afterwards, while being able to hold some food in the stomach as well to not starve immediatly. Crafting is easier but still require strings or nails, there is a match box to craft or a fire charge can be used to light a fireplace. I'm using the furnace at an abbandoned village to forge iron. Blocks cannot float, i made my walls with bricks and mud, now putting some big logs above so i can support the planks on the roof. Combat requires strategy and tight timing especially against hunters with silver weapons, as i need to sprint before hitting something to deal meaningful damage, and werewolves sprint fast. Also, non obvious crafting recipes are locked from being wiki-ed out until i can buy some books to read in modded cities with npcs.
I would TOTALLY get this …If it was on bedrock and got rid of the slow break times. But that’s it. I’m a farmer/creator/survivor type guy who loves prehistoric and ancient life. Something like this just… fits. It’s just that I have ADHD and chopping a tree for 10 years isn’t all that fun. Just make it so I can’t break the wood!!
bedrock edition is complete and utter garbage that has absolutely zero right to be calling itself minecraft. ditch that fake trash and get the real minecraft aka java edition immediately. there is absolutely zero excuse to be playing that disgusting "game" whatsoever. not owning a computer or preferring console games is not a valid excuse and should be ashamed of yourself if you think it is
I don't see anyone mentioning TerraFirmaCraft, so I'll do it, since these mods somewhat familiar. But unlike Better Than Wolfes which makes all activities slower, TFC is pretty much a standalone mod with it's own progression, items, crafting, mechanics and etc. I see that this channel is dedicated to BTW, but I encourage you to try it blindly. Perfection
Finally, actual rl craft, great video.
5:29 Who is that guy in the background?
The username is ShadowGodMordred
0:01 Whatever this soundtrack is i keep hearing it and still have 0 idea what it is.
This looks really fun, tbh
Great video my guy.
8 hours more like 2 weeks lol
Welcome back! The new style is nice! Although if you're a new player looking for a guide, your survival guide video style was extremely good.
Also some of those things I would've totally died multiple times over if attempted / happened to me, you long time BTW players are crazy. :)
This mod makes more sense than the actual Minecraft lol
you make lovely content , thank you for introducing me to this mod
So basically rlcraft but actually fun and playable lol
We need a 100 days of this Minecraft mod dude
Did his video *just* blow up? Or did he just pick a random time to stop UA-cam?
i'll be back
@@CommanderFrost12 I’m excited for your return.
@@CommanderFrost12 neat.
I will watch this as a series.
I remember when this mod was first posted on the Minecraft Forums. The author was insufferable.
Completely agree, good thing he retired and a new group has taken over.
You know how crappy it is when creeper explosion is a viable option
Mod name please 🙏. I want to play
Better then Wolves, it’s a pain to install though.
Terrafirma craft's older brother:
3:20 are You SERIOUS??!
Bro disappeared
I would TOTALLY get this
…If it was on bedrock and got rid of the slow break times. But that’s it.
I’m a farmer/creator/survivor type guy who loves prehistoric and ancient life. Something like this just… fits.
It’s just that I have ADHD and chopping a tree for 10 years isn’t all that fun. Just make it so I can’t break the wood!!
bedrock edition is complete and utter garbage that has absolutely zero right to be calling itself minecraft. ditch that fake trash and get the real minecraft aka java edition immediately. there is absolutely zero excuse to be playing that disgusting "game" whatsoever. not owning a computer or preferring console games is not a valid excuse and should be ashamed of yourself if you think it is

for a 1k channel, a really good video! happy to see it blow up
I don't see anyone mentioning TerraFirmaCraft, so I'll do it, since these mods somewhat familiar. But unlike Better Than Wolfes which makes all activities slower, TFC is pretty much a standalone mod with it's own progression, items, crafting, mechanics and etc. I see that this channel is dedicated to BTW, but I encourage you to try it blindly. The mod is not nearly that punishing like BTW.
yeah im surprised no one mentioned that mod either, thats the first thing that came to my mind seeing this video
TFC was literally the first thing that came to mind when i saw that it took him 7 ingame days to make a crafting bench
@@DanT-dh8lzthere was another comment that mentioned vintage story, which is a standalone game which evolved from another Minecraft mod, and its very much inspired by TFC
"And then you realize, this is just like real life."
