    Had a n55 135i to 250000km fbo since 90k & the only thing that happened was literally turbos right at 251k was pushing an aggressive tune & beat the piss of the car daily. Moral of the story. Those engines are amazing. Did frequent oil changes & always kept it in line.

    How are these power related? The clutch should hold fine with fbo stage 2 or even upgraded turbos, aswell the other stuff just sounds like someone didnt give a crap about hitting potholes since the car’s existence, for anyone wondering the more common issues on these are oil leaks from the oil filter housing gasket, valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, and rarely bad steering racks.

      Haha thanks, mounted on the front lip with a separate mic on the rear bumper. Unfortunately UA-cam's compressed codec kills all the detail. Scene was shot in 4k, but streams looking like 240p.

    Sounds like nornal bmw issues, except the clutch. You need to upgrade the clutch.

    Thank you for the content. Very informative. I am very interested in the details regarding the clutch issue. I have the same car and looking to do the same upgrades but your video sent me to the path of some researching and I found out the our Manual Tansmissions (ZF S6-45) are rated for 470Nm (346 ft.lbs). I wonder if the clutch upgrade that you mention is all you would need to support your added power.

      @JETFILMCHANNEL  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Sina, yeah I read that too. Kinda scary that the stage2 n55 is putting out almost 100lbs more than the manual trans torque rating.
      However, it is common for ZF to claim lower numbers than actual capacity as sort of a "buffer zone".
      Is it going to be stressed? Yes, but I believe with good driving practices and proper preventative maintenance it will hold up for long time.
      Chances are that something else will "give" under load before the trans fails suddenly.
      IE. tire slip/clutch slip

    Awesome video. More N55 content please! I just picked up a 14 335xi m sport AT. Have you had any issues with the Xdelete, and do you think it prolongs life of your transfer case? Also are you using Bootmod3? How is the drive ability just cruising low rpm around town and stuff?

    • @JETFILMCHANNEL
      @JETFILMCHANNEL  4 роки тому

      Thanks Tom j, more to come. No issues whatsoever with x-delete. I absolutely believe it prolongs the life of the transfer case because its not being used while in rwd mode. In fact, I only turn on xdrive when I absolutely need to (driving in heavy snow). The RWD components in the xdrive are the same as those in the RWD models so it can take full torque.
      Yes, I am using BM3 stage 2. It's awesome, little pricey compared to other options but its definitely worth it. Drive ability around town is great, and spirited runs are a blast.
      If you're looking to just get your "feet wet" i would recommend getting BM3 stage 1. No hardware mods to change(*read below), it's just an ECU software flash. This will give you a significant increase in power. And if you need a little more, than you can always go stage 2.
      *I want to add that it is highly recommended to upgrade your charge pipe whenever you add power to the N55, as the CP is made out of plastic and it known to break even under normal loads. Its a pain to change out, the pipe cost $200-300, everybody has done it but once its done you don't have to worry about it anymore.
      Hope this helps

      Thank you! It truly makes it all worth it to hear a comment like that. I bought the car with 45k, went stage 2 with about 47-48k and now it has 65k.
      Is stage 2 worth it? Yes, I'd do it again in a second.

    I couldn't tell you why with much certainty but on my 2014 xdrive I would have the same "clutch slip" issue as you but it was much more frequent and I was convinced I needed a clutch. But after switching back to AWD it literally hasn't slipped once. My guess is the transfer case not being able to send all the torque from stage 2 to just 2 wheels but I really don't know for sure.

    How does the bm3 tune affect 1st and second gear, I have always felt like first is really short in my f30 and when I go stage 1 I'm worried about low speed drivability in my parking garage

    • @JETFILMCHANNEL
      @JETFILMCHANNEL  4 роки тому +2

      Its nothing to worry about, just be smooth and gentle with that throttle in low gears. A nice feature of BM3 tunes is you have the ability to reduce boost in any gear you choose. Less boost in low gears will make it less "twitchy".

    I have a six speed stock, would you noticed a difference with bm3 stage 1? idk if there's going to be a huge difference. thanks!

    • @JETFILMCHANNEL
      @JETFILMCHANNEL  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Ethan, yes, there is a DRAMATIC difference between stock and stage 1. In fact, some could argue that stock-to-stage1 is the biggest bump in power over any other sequential stages. From stage1 to stage2 it was noticeable, but far less obvious than stock to stage1. For an OTS tune, go bm3 for software if you want to do it right the first time.

      Sorry, I got crisscrossed with comments from another video. I've driven about 25k with stage 2, and about 350 miles with the E30 tune.

    • @joeirl
      @joeirl 4 роки тому

      @@JETFILMCHANNEL Same thing happened with my 435i. The E30 tune ate my clutch alive. I went with SPEC 2+ with the LUK Dual Mass Flywheel. I also deleted the CDV by swapping out the slave with an E90 slave. The E90's had an external CDV I believe, where as the F series CDV is built in the slave. How are you liking the clutch upgrade?? Protuner Freaks really should list that as something mandatory for us 6MT drivers.

    • @JETFILMCHANNEL
      @JETFILMCHANNEL  4 роки тому

      A few days later the clutch seemed to be absolutely fine. I've heard these are self adjusting clutches so it must have tightened up. Only other time it happened was when I tried e30. Went back to pump stage 2 and it was fine again. As long as you don't completely sear your clutch, normal driving will help resurface it. Don't want to spend $2500 on a clutch/flywheel/install if i don't have to.

    How hard are you driving that car bro?

    • @JETFILMCHANNEL
      @JETFILMCHANNEL  4 роки тому +2

      I drive it with spirit, not abuse. Everyone dreams of buying a sports car from an old lady because its been "babied" but the truth is it probably has been neglected, carbon caked, ran regular 87gas, non synthetic oil etc. Pushing a car a bit can help weed out the weak parts early in its life allowing for stronger replacement parts for a bulletproof platform later on. Okay I'm rambling now, I'm sure you catch my drift.
