@@kahsin1342 他说是7:52的时候these kinds of fabrics 应该有s, 可是我觉得嘉尔没错,仔细听嘉尔说kind时是kind, 不是kinds,所以可能他不是统一的说明选择的布料,而是把不同布料单独挑出来一个一个的说成singular 'this kind of fabric',不是plural form 的these kinds of fabrics,所以没必要加s? 我个人觉得非要说个问题就是'my parents just like, love Jackson so much', 可是要分析也是有两种方法,可以解读成(my parents)(just like)(love jackson so much) 或是(my parents)(just)(like/love jackson so much), 如果是第一种把just like归类为想事情用的多余词,那就在my parents 后加 are/were会顺畅一些, 变成(my parents are/were)(just like)(love jackson so much),可是如果解读成第二种,把just和like分开解读各自的字面意思,那嘉尔是没错的,对错就看怎么解读吧,嘉尔那句子的断句和音调确实比较像第一种解读,可是英语不像中文有规定的语调,如果嘉尔本人说他要表达的是第二种,就不能说他语法有问题了。
Nyte Lyte good enough, considering he knows like 7 languages. And he is also a rapper and all the other stuff so it is impressive if you stack everything
I am a native english speaker and am bi-lingual in Chinese, Jackson speaks fluent english. He's bi-lingual and sometimes it slips up. BUT HE IS FLUENT.
Jackson is such a good man, who respect everyone, but shows no fear when he’s performing. It’s interesting to hear how he uses English words, as he can be cool without using rude words.
You should review Jackson's interview with Zach Sang. They talked about some really deep topics and I was so impressed by how articulate he was. He used a lot of analogies, metaphors, etc.
Jackson sounds native mostly because he went to international school back in HongKong, and his supposedly-to-be native tongue, Cantonese, is not even that good. He doesn’t read much Chinese. I think his shanghainese is quite good because of his mom and mother side grandparents? His mandarin has only recently gotten better since he hosted and attended some reality shows in mainland China.
zaddy bigballs didn’t say he wasn’t. I do like him a lot. Just stating the fact why his English sounds native, and don’t think there is a need to evaluate his English at all.
True Jackson learned from American teachers and students at the American International School. Native-speaker of English here. Seems comfortable from him. I think he feels just as good in expressing his thoughts in Cantonese. He also does HK interviews. In an English-speaking Coachella video, Mr Wang says he counts in Cantonese during his stretches because it his first language. Speaking is one thing, but Reading is another. Jackson did go to a local school in Hong Kong for some time, but he went to and spent more time at an International School so of course his reading in Chinese Cantonese is not as developed as in English. This is all just in my opinion.
Kris lived abroad for years tho (both Canada and US, I think?) but Jackson really just lived his whole life in Hong Kong/Shanghai/Rest of China and then straight to Korea. But I love them both 💖
GOT7 fans, please realize the sole purpose of these videos is to teach people English. He's showing how popular (Chinese) celebrities speak English, why they say what they say, when to use phrases/words, and whether or not it is formal or informal. That's it. It isn't criticism. Chris isn't saying that Jackson has horrible English nor is he making fun of him if he corrects his English. This channel is focused on TEACHING people (mainly Chinese speaking) how to speak English efficiently and naturally. If Chris corrects Jackson's English, it isn't being Chris is being negative toward Jackson. He's JUST teaching. Realize the differences and stop being so emotionally defensive.
Wo de Putonghua shi bu hao. Can you Tube provide a translate button for the comment section where native speakers render characters like they have on Facebook?

I think Chris was just trying to help anyone who wants to perfect their "American" English, and learn to speak like a native... No argument that being understood is the most important first step. Some folks just want to sound like a native to blend in.

It's kind of insulting to rate Jackson's English. He's fluent and feels most comfortable when speaking English. Like for me, i am trilingual but english is my native tongue. However, we fall in the category of knowing multiple languages but categorized as not "fluent" in all is complete bs to me lol.
Oh gosh... I didn't see any disrespect here AT ALL! If anything it was a compliment! He was using this to help teach English to non-english speakers! Plus, Chris speaks more languages than even you do! I cannot imagine him ever being rude. Perhaps you didn't understand why he was rating it? Or perhaps you were in the mood to take offense where none was given. Anyway, Chris certainly never even implied the guy wasn't fluent in Eng. Maybe watch it again with an open mind and heart. Peace.
Hey I've been following this channel for a while as an ABC who's into linguistics and likes to watch his videos to learn how to discuss linguistic topics in Chinese and I think there's a major misunderstanding - he never does a purely binary rating of fluent and not fluent. The main audience of his channel are Chinese speakers who want to learn how to sound more natural while speaking colloquial English, and the purpose of his analyses is to point out what makes people's English sound native and nonnative (both good and bad things they do) which learners can then apply in practice. These can range from phonological patterns (e.g. the alveolar flap he mentioned), vocabulary choices (slang, filler words), as well as prosodic elements (stress, intonation, flow, cadence). Yeah I see the exhaustion that many diasporic people have when it comes to being judged (especially often and ironically by monolingual Westerners) for their language skills but I assure you that this guy isn't about that. He's a polyglot, but also a linguistically trained EFL teacher who knows what he's talking about can clearly break these concepts down.
Yeah, like everyone is saying, Chinese people wanting to learn English look up to these idols as examples to model their English after. Chris isn't "rating" anything.
Yeah, like everyone is saying, Chinese people wanting to learn English look up to these idols as examples to model their English after. Chris isn't "rating" anything.
This was fascinating. (Have you checked out Jimmy O. Yang's standup routine on Netflix? He sounds like he was born and raised in the states, but apparently didn't get here until he was 13... Anyway, it's hilarious and I'd love to know what you think of his English)
Not all Americans speak perfect English, lol. It is ridiculous to compare Kris and Jackson. One is from Canada, an English speaking country and the other is from Hong Kong, an Asian country which uses Cantonese as a common language.
Hey, Jacky! Thanks for the comment! Regarding the first comment, that's for sure true. There are many people uneducated people who don't speak the standard language of their country well. As for the Kris/Jackson comparison, Kris actually isn't from Canada. He just happens to have a Canadian passport and lived there for 5 years from age 10 to 15. In many ways, Jackson probably had a similar level of exposure to English in his childhood because he was at an American international school in Hong Kong. At the end of the day though, they both speak phenomenal English, well beyond what any normal person would need to meet their needs.
According to his interviews, he speaks English, Cantonese, Mandarin and Shanghai dialect, and a little bit French. I can not tell how well he speaks English or Cantonese. He was educated in International School, so his English is supposed to be pretty good. however his Mandarin level and Shanghai dialect level are quite limited.
