Buying the Sigma 18-50 f2.8 and 10-18 f2.8 was a no-brainer for me after I bought the a6700. It's gonna be a sad day once I find a buyer for my ZV-E10. That camera helped me build my career, and it served me well!

I own the following lenses for my Sony A6700 : Sigma 16 F1.4 (Studio setting) Sony 35 F1.8 OSS (Travel lowlight) Sony 50 F1.8 OSS (Travel lowlight) Sony 18-135 OSS (All round travel daytime) Sony 70-350 OSS (Wildlife) All of these are sharp & amazing lenses! OSS does help for video to remove the minute shakes especially on longer focal lengths.
For light travel I bought the ZV-E10 and the Sigma 18-50 and based on your recommendation also the Sony 11. My light “tele” (not really a long focal length) is the Samyang 75f1.8. The build quality isn't the best (lots of plastic) but the image quality is really good and the lens is small and light. With these three lenses I'm able to do the most pictures I like. (Of course not wildlife)

Solid picks! I'll share my quintet of lenses and give some thoughts on them. Your channel and comments like this have helped me out a lot, so I figured I would add some of my takes. Standard/main prime -- Viltrox 27mm f1.2 -- It's a relatively new addition, so I'm still stuck in the "only using it on f1.2 because I paid for it" phase - and that's surely a nice feature - but the main selling point for me is the image quality it produces. I previously used the Sigma 30mm f1.4 instead, and it's maybe my main recommendation for APS-C lenses, but I use this focal range a lot, so the enhanced quality of the Viltrox lens was worth its extra price and weight for me. Like all my other lenses, I got this one used, and it had some bugs, but they were fixed by installing a firmware update. Portrait/macro -- Sony 90mm f2.8 -- The main genre of photo/video I do is still life (LEGO), so investing in a quality prime lens was important for me, and I'm glad I went with this one. The quality I can get from just point-and-shoot at those minifigures is so good with this lens. Aside from its stellar macro-capabilities, it's an overall useful and sharp lens. I don't think the autofocus is slow/buggy, so it functions as a fully capable telephoto prime too, replacing my 85mm f1.4. Telephoto -- 70-350mm f4.5-6.3 -- I started out with Sony's 55-210mm, and it did the job when I needed long reach. I coincidentally came across the 70-350mm for a good price, and figured that it would be the one purchase to cover all my occasional telephoto needs well. While the 55-210 was a tool that worked, this more versatile and crisp lens urges me to take it out for a spin on a bright day, leading to noticeably more telephoto photography than I otherwise would've done. All-purpose -- Tamron 17-70mm f2.8 -- It's an incredible all-around lens for photo and video. I don't use it that much because I have sharp prime lenses to cover that range if I zoom with my feet, but if I don't know what I'm shooting, I'm safe picking this one. (I use a camera without IBIS, and wasn't aware of issue with addressed in the video). Wide angle -- Sigma 16mm f1.4 -- It does what it advertises, and it does it well for a good price. I just don't find myself using it a lot simply because it's not as useful of a focal range for me. It's however reassuring to have on the shelves for the occasional vlog-style/wide angle footage I do.
Since this is about sharing Sony ZV-E10 lens. This is my 2 cents worth - the lenses I have been using for a couple of years, and very happy with this kit, and the only lenses I would add in future are the Sony 11mm 1.8, Viltrox 23mm f1.4, and the Sony 90mm 2.8 macro. One day. I use two zooms as basic kit, the Sony 10-18mm f4 OSS, and the 18-105mm f4 PZ OSS. For lower light I have the Sigma 16mm, 30mm, and 56mm f1.4's. If I was forced to keep only one lens it would be the Sony 18-105mm f4 PZ OSS. That lens is so darn versatile. Not the fastest, not the widest, but boy is it useful, and the perfect fit for the 10-18. Which of my lenses would I most easily part with? Probably the Sigma 30mm. I would happily replace it with the Viltrox 23mm 1.4, and Sony 35mm f1.8 OSS (or the even better but bigger Sony FE 35mm f1.8)

Good call on recommending to avoid the tamron 17-70 on ibis bodies until they fix the firmware, it's only pressure like that that might convince tamron to properly support their product
Great job on the video Mark! Thanks for making it. I recently played around with a Sirui Sniper 23mm when a bunch of employees from the camera store I work at went to an arcade bar here in Vegas. That F1.2 came in clutch on my a6700. It let in a ton of light from hundreds of different sources without making everything look weird, and it was great being able to just pass around my camera to all of my coworkers (all photographers naturally) and not have to worry about damaging a G Master. I'm anxious to check out their 56mm and 75mm, but we shall see if I get the chance. I may have to just buy the lens set to play with all of them. That 16mm F1.2 for instance...
@@fabian3265 Hmmm. I keep hearing how bad it is, but when I look at the images I have taken with it, they seem fine.Not saying they ae GM quality, but everything doesn't have to be a master piece. Of course, I'm not pixel peeping the corners or printing A1 or A2. It seems such a nice option for just kicking around. Works just fine for the grand kids in the pool!
the kit lens is worth having because it’s cheap with the camera and can come in handy. you won’t notice a big difference in the quality of photo, but the autofocus can now keep up with an a9iii and you can keep you focus while you track and zoom. it’s stabilization is also better.
The Sigma 56 1.4 performs incredible for the size, weight, and price. I use it all the time for portrait and product shoots. I recently picked up the Viltrox 27mm f1.2 and so far that seems like a winner, if a bit large and heavy. I'm still torn between the Sigma 18-50 and Sony 16-55 as an all-rounder -- leaning towards Sigma since it's much smaller and lighter, not to mention half the price. Cheers from the capital

I keep debating on whether to buy the Sony 11mm f1.8 or the Sigma 10-18mm f2.8 for vlogging and picture purposes. The stabilization seems better on the Sony (I want to do handheld vlogs mainly) but the Sigma offers the versatility in focal lengths that would be nice to switch between vlogging and street photography more easily (at least I think so). Still unsure which to choose 😔 Is the Sigma 10-18mm stabilization bad for handheld? I think that’s what will determine my decision the most tbh

When I use a K&F Nano Series X VND with the matching 55mm thread filter size on the 11mm I get the dreaded X on my footage. So I switched to a K&F non-variable ND and as you would suspect, no X. However, if I were to go with something like a NISI Swift with a 67mm thread filter and throw on the step up ring onto the 11mm, do you think I that would also prevent the dreaded X on my footage? Or is 11mm just TOO wide to use with any VND? Thank you!

Hi Mark, firstly....love your videos. We are the EV Couple from Australia and we usually shoot videos in our Tesla model 3 with iPhone 13 Pro and Go Pro 11. However, we have noticed massive amount of video noise while shooting indoors (inside the car). Hence we are planning to get the Sony ZV E10 II. Is there any lens that you would recommend apart from the kit lens that comes with the ZV E10 II ?
If price and focal range difference isn't a consideration, do you think the Sony 16-55 f2.8 is objectively better (mainly sharpness, CA) than the Sigma 18-50 f2.8?
I use the FX 30 as my main studio cam with the sigma 1.4. I just put an order in for the ZVE10II And I will probably end up with the Sigma zoom as the lens that lives on it full-time. It will be used as a bee camera in Studio as well as handheld around the studio and trade shows, but I also have a gimbal so I’m not particularly worried about stabilization. Lotta people seem to be going nuts on the new ZVE 10 for lack of ibis because of course “vlogging” But seriously, how many people are doing blogging anymore ?
Having had the ZV-E10 and a few lenses, I have some lessons learned. Currently I own: Sigma 30 and 56. Tamron 17-70. Viltrox 13 and 20mm f2.8 Heavy lenses suck. I would easily sell my tamron for a sigma 18-50. I would not get the 56mm. It's too limiting of a focal length. I could live well enough with just 18-50 and 30mm. My 13mm is great, but heavy. A heavy kit means i don't take it to places. Often i leave it all at home and just take my DJI Pocket 3 with me At some point i will sell some lenses. The last one i want is the tamron 70-180. Then i will see which lenses i will get rid of.

This one makes the most sense for what the ZVE10 is. If we’re using it more for photography, then a A6x00 makes better sense. If we’re using it for photo and video (vlogs and UA-cam, and just in general), the lenses you listed make great sense.
Hi Mark, just the video I needed to see! I've ordered the Sony a6700 along with the sigma 18-50mm. I'm wanting to do video/content creation as well as use it to take photographs of my artwork for Art Prints. As I haven't received my camera yet so I can't test it out - do you think that lens is sharp enough for art reproductions and will the in-camera barrel distortion fix barrelling? or do you think I need to get a prime lens? I was thinking either the Sigma 30mm or the Sony 35mm f1.8 oss and if so - which lens would be better? Please help, I've been so confused 😩 You're so funny by the way :)
I think if you just want to play with telephoto start with the Sony 55-210 oss. Not the best lens but for the money it is fun. Buy it used for around $200 and when you out grow it you can sell it for $200. It does have OSS so should help the E10 II.
I have that at the moment. Holding off on the 70-350, hoping that someone will release another telephoto in APSC soon with a f4 throughout at least.. any rumours???
Hi there, I watched your recommendation but this time for my video style which is filming over the top products and i want detail shots with some macro lens, now i have a zv-e10 bought after watching your old videos and i went for 33mm viltrox lens, now i have the difficulty in searching for something that can film close to the product for details like connectors, buttons etc. Could be nice if you test some macro lens for videos! Maybe in the future, you have plenty of chances i think to get hand on one! For B-rolls mostly, i miss that on my channel because of the lack of equipments.

I would just add the Viltrox 27mm 1.2 to this list. I wish Viltrox could come up with a 15/16mm F1.2 with the same optical quality than the 27mm and 75mm, it would be the ultimate talking head studio lens ❤
The Viltrox 13mm F1.4 it's really good for that porpuse if you haven't tried, I'll recommended that lens for talking heads and if you have a selfie stick you can get away with vlogging as well. On pair with the Sigma 16 mm in sharpness.

@@dangerousmethod_33 the Yongnuo looks nice indeed but since I’m shooting in a small room I’m looking for a faster lens than my Sony 15mm F1/4 (previously Sigma 16mm) to increase the background separation in small space. Sirui has one but the optical quality would be a downgrade.
I own a ZVE10 1st edition, im doing both videography and photography im currently using the kit lense im on a budget as well, i mainly shoot events but some of them are in low light conditions,i also do sports videography and photography but its mainly combat sport .which lens do you recommend
My to go lens is always sigma 30mm 1.4, but always use it with a DJI gimbal to get smooth image. Just shoot a videoing a youth camp with the 30mm. 1 day filming and 1 day edting challlenge :p

NOOOO!!! If photography is even a slightly a bigger part - I would NOT get the new ZVE10 Mark2. In fact, I’d get the original ZVE10 (Mark 1) over the new (Mark 2) if I knew I was using it for photography. I’d also rather save and get the A6700 over the new ZVE10 (Mark2) if I wanted video and photography. If you’re just doing photography, I’d stay with the A6400 over either ZVE10’s. You will miss the EVF. I bought my ZVE10 without looking at it first (purely on UA-cam recommendations and forgot it didn’t have EVF. I kept it, but oh how I miss it - Every - Single - Time I go to take pictures. Every time. Keep your A6400 and treat yourself to a nice lens or two over the cost savings of not buying the new ZVE10MK2.

I also use the tamron 70-180F2.8 on my little dougie. Constant aperture which is great for video and to match this with a bcam for my other little dougie I use the tamron 17-70, great range and almost same image. I didn’t knew about that you can’t turn off the “fighting” between ibis and VC. you can just disable VC right? And problem is solved or just disable IBIS? I didn’t get that part. So even with both turned off they fight eachotter?
Ahh okay. I always have it turned of, the active and standard are terrible stabilizers for fast moving stuff, good if you have 1 person in the image but if you film a band and want to switch to other person, you get terrible image. I’m always using a gimbal and no incam stabilization.

One of my biggest frustrations with cameras is changing lenses on models that don't have a shutter close function when powered off. To address this, I invested in the Sony A6700 specifically for my Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 the only one I have APS-C lens. This combination is so perfect for me that I am willing to metaphorically "glue" the lens onto the camera, ensuring it never comes off. On the other hand, my Sony A7IV, which has the shutter close on power off function, accommodates a variety of lenses. This feature gives me the confidence to switch lenses in any environment without worrying about dust or damage.
Hey Mark, You are the one who made lot of us to buy into zv e10 and promoted use of catalyst browse. Please make comparison video with new zv e10 ii vs a6700 catalyst stablization. It seems like catalyst browse supports stabilizing a6700 active stabilized videos with IBIS (without lens OSS) We would like to see if there is any significant advantage on catalyst with a6700 ibis vs zv e10II . Someone on the internet claimed that they can use the normal 180 deg shutterspeed when ibis was on with catalyst. That will be big winner for a6700 over zv e10 if true.
Catalyst seems to operate the same on both cameras. Catalyst now stabilizes in all modes with IBIS, OSS, - everything. I will have an updated tutorial soon. You can use double your frame-rate for sure, but if you are moving quickly, you nay want to up your shutter speed a bit as the motion blur will be noticeable

@@fabian3265 Hmmm. I keep hearing how bad it is, but when I look at the images I have taken with it, they seem fine.Not saying they ae GM quality, but everything doesn't have to be a master piece. Of course, I'm not pixel peeping the corners or printing A1 or A2. It seems such a nice option for just kicking around. Works just fine for the grand kids in the pool!
the kit lens is worth having because it’s cheap with the camera and can come in handy. you won’t notice a big difference in the quality of photo, but the autofocus can now keep up with an a9iii and you can keep you focus while you track and zoom. it’s stabilization is also better.

The Sigma 56 1.4 performs incredible for the size, weight, and price. I use it all the time for portrait and product shoots. I recently picked up the Viltrox 27mm f1.2 and so far that seems like a winner, if a bit large and heavy. I'm still torn between the Sigma 18-50 and Sony 16-55 as an all-rounder -- leaning towards Sigma since it's much smaller and lighter, not to mention half the price. Cheers from the capital

I keep debating on whether to buy the Sony 11mm f1.8 or the Sigma 10-18mm f2.8 for vlogging and picture purposes. The stabilization seems better on the Sony (I want to do handheld vlogs mainly) but the Sigma offers the versatility in focal lengths that would be nice to switch between vlogging and street photography more easily (at least I think so). Still unsure which to choose 😔 Is the Sigma 10-18mm stabilization bad for handheld? I think that’s what will determine my decision the most tbh

Mark, great video! Always love these kind of videos. Can I get your thoughts on using NDs on the Sony 11mm lens, please? When I use a K&F Nano Series X VND with the matching 55mm thread filter size on the 11mm I get the dreaded X on my footage. So I switched to a K&F non-variable ND and as you would suspect, no X. However, if I were to go with something like a NISI Swift with a 67mm thread filter and throw on the step up ring onto the 11mm, do you think I that would also prevent the dreaded X on my footage? Or is 11mm just TOO wide to use with any VND? Thank you!

an excellent lens. it’s full frame and one of the best options for full frame. but for Apsc, getting a sigma 30 mm 1.4 would be cheaper and brighter.
Another great wide angle zoom: Tokina 11-18mm F2.8 ATX-M. $399 and a great option for someone looking to bridge the gap between primes if you're traveling
Hi Mark, firstly....love your videos. We are the EV Couple from Australia and we usually shoot videos in our Tesla model 3 with iPhone 13 Pro and Go Pro 11. However, we have noticed massive amount of video noise while shooting indoors (inside the car). Hence we are planning to get the Sony ZV E10 II. They are similar in sharpnesss, I think the Sony is a bit better with CA and overall image quality.

I use the FX 30 as my main studio cam with the sigma 1.4. I just put an order in for the ZVE10II And I will probably end up with the Sigma zoom as the lens that lives on it full-time. It will be used as a bee camera in Studio as well as handheld around the studio and trade shows, but I also have a gimbal so I’m not particularly worried about stabilization. Lotta people seem to be going nuts on the new ZVE 10 for lack of ibis because of course “vlogging” But seriously, how many people are doing blogging anymore ?
People will eventually realize what a bargain the ZV-E10ii is. That image quality for 998 will make a lot of people happy.
Having had the ZV-E10 and a few lenses, I have some lessons learned.
Currently I own: Sigma 30 and 56. Tamron 17-70. Viltrox 13 and 20mm f2.8
Heavy lenses suck. I would easily sell my tamron for a sigma 18-50. I would not get the 56mm. It's too limiting of a focal length.
I could live well enough with just 18-50 and 30mm.
My 13mm is great, but heavy. A heavy kit means i don't take it to places. Often i leave it all at home and just take my DJI Pocket 3 with me
At some point i will sell some lenses.
The last one i want is the tamron 70-180. Then i will see which lenses i will get rid of.

Hi Mark, I own Sigma 18-50 and Sigma 10-18 for my zv e10 and I am really tempted by Viltrox 27mm and 75mm 1.2. Now, I have only a budget for one, which one should I pick between them? I am really confused.
If you are doing video work or general photography - get the 27. the 75 is for portraits (head and shoulders shots).

The Samyang 12mm f2 is also a decent vlogging lens, not too expensive
Got the 16mm and 18 to 50, both from sigma
This one makes the most sense for what the ZVE10 is.
If we’re using it more for photography, then a A6x00 makes better sense.
If we’re using it for photo and video (vlogs and UA-cam, and just in general), the lenses you listed make great sense.
Hi Mark, just the video I needed to see! I've ordered the Sony a6700 along with the sigma 18-50mm. I'm wanting to do video/content creation as well as use it to take photographs of my artwork for Art Prints. As I haven't received my camera yet so I can't test it out - do you think that lens is sharp enough for art reproductions and will the in-camera barrel distortion fix barrelling? or do you think I need to get a prime lens? I was thinking either the Sigma 30mm or the Sony 35mm f1.8 oss and if so - which lens would be better? Please help, I've been so confused 😩 You're so funny by the way :)

I think if you just want to play with telephoto start with the Sony 55-210 oss. Not the best lens but for the money it is fun. Buy it used for around $200 and when you out grow it you can sell it for $200. It does have OSS so should help the E10 II.

I watched your recommendation but this time for my video style which is filming over the top products and i want detail shots with some macro lens, now i have a zv-e10 bought after watching your old videos and i went for 33mm viltrox lens, now i have the difficulty in searching for something that can film close to the product for details like connectors, buttons etc.
Could be nice if you test some macro lens for videos!
Maybe in the future, you have plenty of chances i think to get hand on one!
For B-rolls mostly, i miss that on my channel because of the lack of equipments.

I would just add the Viltrox 27mm 1.2 to this list. I wish Viltrox could come up with a 15/16mm F1.2 with the same optical quality than the 27mm and 75mm, it would be the ultimate talking head studio lens ❤
The Viltrox 13mm F1.4 it's really good for that porpuse if you haven't tried, I'll recommended that lens for talking heads and if you have a selfie stick you can get away with vlogging as well. On pair with the Sigma 16 mm in sharpness.
@@dangerousmethod_33 the Yongnuo looks nice indeed but since I’m shooting in a small room I’m looking for a faster lens than my Sony 15mm F1/4 (previously Sigma 16mm) to increase the background separation in small space. Sirui has one but the optical quality would be a downgrade.

My to go lens is always sigma 30mm 1.4, but always use it with a DJI gimbal to get smooth image. Just shoot a videoing a youth camp with the 30mm. 1 day filming and 1 day edting challlenge :p

If photography is even a slightly a bigger part - I would NOT get the new ZVE10 Mark2.
In fact, I’d get the original ZVE10 (Mark 1) over the new (Mark 2) if I knew I was using it for photography.
I’d also rather save and get the A6700 over the new ZVE10 (Mark2) if I wanted video and photography.
If you’re just doing photography, I’d stay with the A6400 over either ZVE10’s.
You will miss the EVF. I bought my ZVE10 without looking at it first (purely on UA-cam recommendations and forgot it didn’t have EVF. I kept it, but oh how I miss it - Every - Single - Time I go to take pictures.

Keep your A6400 and treat yourself to a nice lens or two over the cost savings of not buying the new ZVE10MK2.
How does Active Steadyshot work with Tamron and Sigma on these cameras? Doesnt work well at all with 3rd party lenses on my Sony A7sIII

Most of the time yes. Under some lights you could potentially get banding - like at a concert with mixed lightning

sony 55-210 is not a bad lens for telephoto Nd sigma 23 mm was sorely missed in this video.
The sigma 23 could definitely be a studio lens, but I shoot around 16 so I went with that focal range

yes, for an all rounder lens, the sigma 18-50 would be my pick.
I also use the tamron 70-180F2.8 on my little dougie. Constant aperture which is great for video and to match this with a bcam for my other little dougie I use the tamron 17-70, great range and almost same image.
I didn’t knew about that you can’t turn off the “fighting” between ibis and VC. you can just disable VC right? And problem is solved or just disable IBIS? I didn’t get that part. So even with both turned off they fight eachotter?
you can’t turn off vc unless you use no stabilization at all. if you use standard or active, it’s automatically on
Ahh okay. I always have it turned of, the active and standard are terrible stabilizers for fast moving stuff, good if you have 1 person in the image but if you film a band and want to switch to other person, you get terrible image.
I’m always using a gimbal and no incam stabilization.

One of my biggest frustrations with cameras is changing lenses on models that don't have a shutter close function when powered off. To address this, I invested in the Sony A6700 specifically for my Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 the only one I have APS-C lens. This combination is so perfect for me that I am willing to metaphorically "glue" the lens onto the camera, ensuring it never comes off. On the other hand, my Sony A7IV, which has the shutter close on power off function, accommodates a variety of lenses. This feature gives me the confidence to switch lenses in any environment without worrying about dust or damage.

Please make comparison video with new zv e10 ii vs a6700 catalyst stablization.
It seems like catalyst browse supports stabilizing a6700 active stabilized videos with IBIS (without lens OSS)
We would like to see if there is any significant advantage on catalyst with a6700 ibis vs zv e10II .
Someone on the internet claimed that they can use the normal 180 deg shutterspeed when ibis was on with catalyst.
That will be big winner for a6700 over zv e10 if true.
Catalyst seems to operate the same on both cameras. Catalyst now stabilizes in all modes with IBIS, OSS, - everything. I will have an updated tutorial soon. You can use double your frame-rate for sure, but if you are moving quickly, you nay want to up your shutter speed a bit as the motion blur will be noticeable
