I stopped closely following BT back before they did the FedCom civil war and this could be a help in catching up to the current era. I’m hoping it can also spark some interest from friends to give BT a try.
Thanks for doing these book previews. Everyone's doing the boxes/models which is great, but I want to see more previews of these new materials too! Now, if you could get ahold of the new Hinterlands source book...
New-ish player starting to get into lore. I'm hitting up the Warrior trilogy, then the Blood of Kerensky, so I might pick this up to read through as well.
Nice review. I played all on PC games in BattleTech. Never played the TTRPG but want to someday. This is probably a good book for me. I've read over 20 of the novels when I was younger. I love a good visual guide.
I’m not sure :/ I was under the impression it wasn’t gonna be released until after the KS fulfilled but CGL started selling them at GenCon and other conventions.
I've gotten to the end of the Star League chapter in my readthough and It's good stuff, but like, nothing I didn't already know about. While bieng one of, if not the biggest BattleTech book ever it's still only a surface dip into the universe overall, which is to the univer'se benefit that there's so much to delve into, and it's very impressive that they got so much in here. I do feel it's a bit... I don't want to say flat but the writing doesn't have the same verve a lot of BattleTech books have, maybe that's down to being written from an omniscient out of universe perspective instead of in-universe like most BattleTech sourcebooks? It's probably also a side effect of how much information they're trying to pass along and in an accessible manner to boot.
@@Thearmedpainter Exactly this, It's not a straight timeline, it jumps around a bit inside the section to keep any given two-page spread on a specific subject, but the Star League section for example talkas about the dawn of spaceflight, the diaspora, the contraction of the Terran Alliance, the rise of the Hegemony and the Great Houses, the Age of War, the formation of the Star League, the development of the Battlemech, the Reunification War, the Hidden Wars, the Amaris Civil War and the Exodus.
Got my hands on my Davion book. For all the hemming and hawing of the iLClan era, they sure didn't put anything in there for force building. I think it's a huge miss. then again, my opinions have been very negative on this KS for a fair bit, so I probably have a bit of a biased opinion.
That is for sure a huge missed opportunity. I’m convinced the powers that be are stuck in the past hence the muddy focus on the new era but the continued focus on CBT over AS.
I think it is unfortunate that the cover layout team didn't shift the artwork a little in just about any direction, as the art combined with the "S" in universe makes that look like a dollar sign...
Lol UA-cam being absolutely ridiculous with the WoB "fun time" still cracks me up. We don't ban a lot of words related to things that happened in history but hey what can ya do?

The Word of Blake's "Jamboree" was truly an unspeakable time
lol poor guy
This book is one of the things I'm waiting for with my KS stuff

One could hope!
Great video. I will getting that book.
A pretty book with lots of art, good era maps & a very generalized overview to lend context to technology, factions & history.
I need this book so bad!

Thx for sharing- as someone new to the game i think it looks like a nice introduction to the fluffy side of things
Looks like it would be a good book for people new to the lore.
That's a good looking book
Its a nice coffee table book to have around to flip through when you want to reac something intersting. Not needed though but nice.
Great review! Looking forward to more videos.
It's a good looking book. I'll probably get one for the shelf. A bit disappointed by the truncated content on the "Lost Clans" and other mercs.
these look like some great source books
Ok, time to extent my libraray ... or better, exchange my 40k collection with the Battletech books. shelf space is scarce these days.😅
Nice preview!
Love this book!
Thank you !🎉
I do love that even with our hypersensitive society today you can't say jump street in a video but somehow can say clan all day...
Maybe thanks to video games and mmos 🤷♂️ but you aren’t wrong
If I recall correctly, BT artist tend to use real life people for their artwork of people.
Been doing it since 1st Ed as a money saver and to make the job easier. Also, ppl inheriting family looks irl, etc...
just like almost all artists do
Great video.
Maybe I missed when is this coming out or how do I get it?
It was on the KS and released (for some reason early) at a few cons this year. This copy was loaned to me, but I did buy one at NOVA Open this year.
When is this released? I missed it in my KS because I am so new.

Does it read more like history rather than a story? Might explain it being a little flat. I’ve personally not read through yet.

I NEED IT

@@Thearmedpainter I mean....There is a metric ton of stuff to use in the new era. I dunno why it's not there. Just a huge miss.

I didn’t notice that…you aren’t wrong 🙄. Big oof and an easy thing to have adjusted as well.

Auto buy! Use for my discount code lol
I wished i was able to back the Kickstarter..
I borrowed this from a viewer, I didn’t get it on my pledge :/
lol u can't say bl@ke 🤣 😂
What word can't you say? please, thanks, sorry, funderful, non-alcoholic, compassion, shrimp-toast, antiquing?
I gotta know!
