Feel like Rice Texas should have gotten a mention considering how lopsided it’s been since the early sixties, and that JFK mentioned it in his go to the moon speech
I know a lot of people laugh at how lopsided some rivalries are, but sometimes it's not how good or bad a team is. Rivalries are there for cultural and state pride, no matter what record or who's on the winning/losing side. It's just sad that it's being taken away because of what's going on with the FBS and conference realignment.
Maryland fan here, knew this was coming. Honestly just happy to be mentioned in a football video considering it was tradition for us when I was there to leave after the first quarter of most football games
I believe the footage shown @ 0:29 is from Alabama vs. MSU, so that series wasn't ignored completely. I was second guessing myself about it being Mississippi State, because those "racing stripes" on the shoulders look exactly like what was on those Johnny Manziel-era Texas A&M uniforms, and both schools happen to share pretty much the same colors palette as well.
@nathanstroud2223 I've had to look it up and it does look like the State uniforms from 1984, which is funny because the uniform history website I used said they looked like the A&M uniforms at the time
Aside from a 3-year win streak in the late 90's by Tech, Clean, Old Fashioned Hate has been pretty lopsided. Tech started off on the giving end, and has now been on the receiving end of the asskicking for about 60 years now
I knew Bedlam would be on here, since OK State has like, 11-12 total wins in a rivalry that goes back to the 1900s. But I forgot about PSU/Maryland being there, as I think most Big 10 fans, outside those two schools, do, cause no one thinks of that as a rivalry, no matter how much the conference tries to tell us it is one
I really appreciate that you included talking about other sports besides football! Those other sports are often just as or even more important than football for rivalries. I myself am an OSU fan, and while Football is the most popular sport here, Cowboy Wrestling is really big as well, with perennial top-10 rankings pretty much every year and sold-out arenas to boot. It's a really awesome atmosphere if you ever get to go to a home dual!
I will never forget when Navy ended Notre Dame's streak. At times, I was not sure if Navy would ever win. I recall that Navy won the game before the officials extended the game. But Navy eventually pulled it out.
One of the oddest lopsided rivalries is between Iowa and Northwestern. Though it doesn't have a wiki page or a trophy, at some point in the late 80's Northwestern just decided they needed a rival and in the early 90's decided that Iowa was a high enough rated program to be worth it, but not so high rated as to be unbeatable, and was on their schedule. As I said it's also pretty lopsided, though not as lopsided as the ones in the video, Iowa leading 54-28 with three ties since they first played in 1897.
It’s considered an important enough game that it’s been hosted in Wrigley Field. I would say there’s more animosity than between Iowa and Illinois football
And two of Maryland’s 3 wins over Penn state came against a Penn state team still dealing with sanctions in 2014 and against a Penn state team that gave up on the COVID season in 2020.
As a Texas Tech fan it’s always hilarious when Texas claims the lopsided rivalry between us means nothing until they lose. Also A&M tends to ignore the close one we share
Missing the LSU vs ULL in-state rivalry. LSU leads the series 22-0, has multiple 30+ point shutouts, and has only allowed 1 touchdown in those 22 games. I'd argue its enough to call it a rivalry now based on how ULL fans and media have focused on attacking LSU so much in recent years.
While not a rivalry, though reading the comments maybe it is, USC vs Colorado is the most lopsided series between 2 teams. USC is 17-0 versus Colorado and 19-0 versus the schools from Colorado. In the 17 games between USC and Colorado, USC has averaged 38.8 Points per game, while giving up only 17.2 Points per game. A difference of 19.6 Points per game or 2.4 more Points per game than Colorado averages. Add in Colorado States 49-0 loss and Denvers 33-13 loss and USC has utterly Dominated the State of Colorado.
From a neutral perspective (UT fan) it looks like a pretty even series all-time. It’s been pretty close ever since you guys (presuming you’re an MSU fan) joined the Big Ten in 1953 (41-32 from the Wikipedia page)…they did dominate you in the early games though.
@ yeah that’s true but even then trophy series for Sparty it’s 41-29-2 with Michigan winning 30 of 38 before dantonio’s 7 straight. Series has def been more even lately. The really Interesting thing for me is MSU having a major rival who we are down by a decent amount for and then also having a super lopsided one in our favor via Indiana 50-19-2 on
Being from Oklahoma, the OU-OSU rivalry is basically a boxer and a punching bag. And a good observation that "Bedlam" was WRESTLING before any other sport.
Let's Go Mountaineers! It would be nice to play Marshall again, and not just because I think we can win. It would just be cool to have two annual rivalry games with Pitt and Marshall (or Virginia Tech), but our scheduling in the near future got screwed by our previous AD. Why do we have home and home series against Alabama and Ohio U? Backyard Brawl is getting a 3-year hiatus from 2026-2028 too.
also not shocking that the most lopsided CFB rivalries are Football School v. Basketball School, with the results likely similarly lopsided in favor of the Basketball School on the hardwood
There's always exceptions. Navy isnt a basketball school and neither is Oklahoma State. Georgia vs Georgia Tech is pretty lopsided and Ga. Tech isnt a basketball school. Washington and Washington State the same thing.
College football makes so many mistakes in the way it’s handled. Compared to the NFL, college football has so much more history. It’s been going for over 150 years and a lot of the rivalries like Michigan Ohio State have been going on since 1897. The Super Bowl has only been around since 1967
@@prestonjennings6277 I’m also a Dallas Cowboys Fan so this season for me was filled with just disappointment like the WWE the Cowboys will never change unless the old fart sells the team to a younger owner who wants something to prove. So Oklahoma State is the only football team I really think has a chance to at least win a conference title
I’m surprised that games like Ohio-Ohio State Penn-Penn State Or Miami(OH)-Cincinnati weren’t mentioned. They seem like they would all hate eachother in spite of big differences in school size Also Maine-Oklahoma gets an honorable mention
Ummm louisville vs Miami is more than howard S. Louisville has recruited many players from florida and most of them in and around the Miami metro area. So when the two teams play many players have played against each other and been rivals most of their lives. LOUISVILLE/MIAMI connection runs deep.
Don't you dare rope us in with Baylor and Tech, yeah they may have been dominant the in the 2000's but please cut out the years where military service wasn't required at A&M and then look at the numbers.

Tv executives are and have been the enemy to college football

From what I understand from my friends there, it still is lmao
@ Yeah I graduated 21 and we haven’t gotten too much better so not surprised. Basketball and lax school babyyyy
@@Damnhippies546 The worst part is, PSU is as good if not better than UMD at lax now lmao
Tbh, I miss the old big east football days
Surprised Alabama-Mississippi state didn’t get a mention, closest rivalry to having the first team get 100 wins over the other
It's Mississippi State, we tend to be forgotten alot
I believe the footage shown @ 0:29 is from Alabama vs. MSU, so that series wasn't ignored completely.

Mississippi state is LSUs most played opponent , played for something like 120 years straight and it just got unceremoniously scrapped
Because it is not a Rivalry.

As a Bills fan, that last line was actually helpful to hear.
As a lifelong Maryland resident and current UMD student, I knew it was coming and it still hurt to hear
Can I ask why? Do you Md students really think about that game like that?
@quacked920 no, I don’t even consider them rivals, we just hate them and how often they kick our ass
18:48 “When you find yourself losing four straight to a rival” oh hello and go blue
you had to endure 8 straight. we're fine. probably
@@realballknowerThey had to endure 2 wins in 20 seasons lmao.

Texas Tech (my alma mater) has lost 75% of its rivalry games against Texas, which ... well, we'll always have 2008.

The one thing OSU and OU fans have in common is that neither went to OU
💀
Funny thing is a lot of OSU alum are OU fans. They know their own school sucks.
@ funny thing is a lot of OU fans live in trailer parks.
I dunno, my degree that says “University of Oklahoma” tells a different story. Idiot.
How many Big XII games y'all win this year? No wonder Oklahomans love OU ☝️
I took that "the next time you find yourself..." a little personally but not as personally as I would have without that TOTND 4 game run. 😊
And, it would be actually interesting to see a follow up on rivalries that are not lopsided overall but are very "streaky".
"The next time you find your team losing four straight to a rival. Don't worry, it could always be worse." I do not like such ominous tidings 😂
These videos have such a high production quality …..man you deserve such a larger audience!
