    It’s nice to meet a fellow Craftsman fan. I really miss their USA stuff. Their overseas stuff has gotten better, but I can still tell the difference.Nice box. Very clean and organized.

    My family make fun of my tools and they think I spend too much time with them, one brother say they are too clean, my dad tells me I have too many, my wife think I love the tools more than her. I just love tools and that why I enjoyed watching your video, great box.

    Very well detailed tour.. I've been a mechanic for 15 years and I have many tools made in North America, all of which are great quality. I still think many people spend WAY too much money for a name on a set of pliers, wrenches etc.. Expand your horizons and go German (Knipex, Wera, Geodore, Stalwille)

    Bought a large Craftsman mechanics set of tools 42 years ago and I think at that time, they were commercial Quality. Craftsman tools weren't cheap either, if you paid full price, felt like 😖. But if you could catch what you needed 50% off be like 😀.

      Modern Day Tinkerer thank you! I’m going to try and get an update video out fairly soon. I’ve done some more rearranging, organizing, and new additions to my box and collection. I’m at the point now where my box is pretty stuffed! Haha! An upgrade to my box may come down the road but, at the same time I like the way it’s set up. It flows and works well for what I do in my garage and around the house. Thanks for the comments and stay tuned!

    Completely support your effort to buy Made In USA, even if it means they're harder to find and replace. I have a pretty big set of Craftsman USA collection. They never made Craftsman USA soft grip ratchets, so I have to look for good condition used Snap On. That said, I can't see paying a ton for a Snap On Ratchet that has some parts made in china.
    Thanks for sharing.

    • @mikegiaccone32
      @mikegiaccone32  7 років тому +2

      Lynyrd thanks for your support! When I found out a large part of Craftsman hand tool production was moved overseas I was a bit sad. Like you I can't afford to buy all Snap On even though I am tempted every Friday when our Snap On guy Jim shows up at work. Haha! With Stanley buying the Craftsman name MAYBE we can see some of that change though. I have found some NOS and good used USA Craftsman stuff on eBay as well as other brands. Let's not forget SK, Wright, and Proto to name a few that are still made here and are of good quality and at the same time less expensive than the tool truck stuff.

      Ryan R. Burns thanks! There is a 1/4” Snap On flex head ratchet in the video. I have since upgraded my 3/8” Craftsman flex head ratchet (which I gave to my oldest son) with a flex head 3/8” Snappy. I hope to get out an updated tour before the Summer is over. Glad you enjoyed the video!

I love to find uses for what I have in what I'm working on at any given time. I may do an update in the next few months as a few things have changed here and there. Thanks again and I'm glad you enjoy it'!

    Just got my first craftsman toolbox (3 drawer Made in Cambodia) from lowes, and man is that thing nice and heavy duty, much sturdier than my dads 70's or 80's made toolbox, I was wonder about what Craftsman screw drives set I should get, Im sorta partial to the clear red/ blue acetate handles like my dad had, but the red/ black seem more expensive...which sets are better and why? thanks.

    This tour was very well done. I’m looking for a top chest to replace my craftsman chest. My chest is only inches deep and same vintage as yours. Need the deeper chest. Where did you find your boxes ?

  • @Rich-t5x
    @Rich-t5x Місяць тому

    The top box with the 5.0 badge applied...
    Do you know the part number for that box? I'm looking for just that box to replace my 12" deep top box but they're hard to find nowadays.
    I think mine is a late 90's USA made box and I'd like to just replace it with the deeper box. My 12" has three small drawers in place of the single top drawer but I'd prefer 6 full drawers rather than the 3+5.

    I was thinking about getting that end cabinet for my old craftsman box. But I wonder with my box. top, bottom and middle all loaded up if adding that end cab would put it over the edge. What do you think? Owning it does it seem like the box and casters can handle it? I have more tools in mine. I have mine packed. Mine is a old one. From about 1979. I always felt those end cabs were meant for bigger tool boxes. What your opinion??

    • @mikegiaccone32
      @mikegiaccone32  7 років тому +1

      moparmania86 I don't move my box around my garage so it's hard to say. For the couple times I have moved it there's been no issues but, I've added several items over the years since I last moved it. I've seen some videos of guys putting a couple pieces of angle iron inside the bottom cab where the casters bolt to for reinforcement. They just marked and drilled the steel and put the casters back on with longer bolts and nuts. I think they'll handle the weight, it's just moving it around. If you notice my bottom cab in the opening shot it has spacer blocks (a lift kit? Haha!) so my side cab didn't touch the floor. The side cab is meant for the taller boxes like the 8 drawer version of my box that I didn't get and should've or the the older Craftsman box to the right that my son has. I'll be doing a quick tour of his soon hopefully. If you do the angle iron trick just take your bottom couple of drawers out and hide them in there and once back together no one will be the wiser!
