The slide on the Echelon is so good. They're always innovating and pushing the market forward. Bravo Springfield.
HS Produkt...it says it all over the gun. Even the Springfield logo shares references to HS Produkt on this pistol.
Bravo HS Produkt for the design and production (in their factory in Karlovac, Croatia), and bravo Springfield Armory for the marketing or this handgun. Both are awesome.
I'm a Smith and Wesson guy, but the Echelon... Leaves me breathless... VERY nice shooter, extremely accurate, couldn't find anything wrong with the one I handled.
News flash, that makes you a Glock fan 😂 the echelon is a Glock
@@Gunsandbunsmma having shot both, I can tell you ONLY thing Glock like about the Echelon is capacity of 17+ ... Glocks are still boat anchors...
The stock Echelon is a glock after $1000 of aftermarket corrections. @@Gunsandbunsmma
I’ve mostly shot 1911s and CZ pistols over my 5 years of owning guns now but my first gun I ever bought was a glock 45. I never really liked it so I sold it a while back. Well earlier this year I wanted to get a duty style polymer gun but couldn’t decide between the P320, PDP, or the P10F. Well lo and behold I went to the Echelon test fire at my local Range USA and won myself a free Echelon in the raffle! I absolutely love it! It was truly a blessing to get exactly what I wanted for free and for it to be an excellent product!
Damn bro that’s insanely awesome !!! The echelon is my favorite pistol ever !! I got my last week and shot it the next day and I have to say it blows everything else out of the water in my opinion especially for the cost
@@RedDawnReadiness Yeah. When it comes to pure value it and the pdp are the best pistols on the market
It’s a glock yo 😂 you like glocks buy a glock 17 and embrace the best in the world
There are so many amazing handguns that have come out the last several years that offer a lot more than a Glock offers. Yes, Glock has been around for I believe over 35 years now and they are reliable and have a lot of after market support. But you can get other handguns that are a more modern design, more options out of the box, are just as reliable and at a better price. I like Glocks like everyone else but I think Springfield hit it out of the park with this one.
All guns are about how they fit the shooter. Please try shooting a gun before u spend your money. Keep on sending rounds down range.
Spot on…I like to say if some of these newer released guns like the PDP, P10C and this Eschelon were released back in the 80s, Glock would be nowhere near as popular..What keeps selling Glocks is track record, not features
@@RepentorPerish77completely agree! It sells because it’s been the champion for the longest, and I have to say Gen 5 Glocks are a very nice but subtle upgrade. But I bought a Echelon before ever shooting it and I knew from just having enough guns and handlings them it would be great and it was even better then I expect after my first range session
I bought one today and shot 150 rounds. It's really a lot like an improved glock. It has a very similar recoil impulse, which is a good thing in my opinion as for me, glocks shoot great. But the Echelon has better stippling, better slide serrations, better controls, a better trigger, and a better optics mounting system. It really is a great pistol.
Completely agree I think it kicks the glocks butt honestly
This is the comment for me. I to shoot glocks good. 17 and 19x were so smooth for me. I want the echelon but never shot it and will be bummed if I enjoy the G17 more.
But if you shoot glocks good as well and feel the echelon is the same or better, well then that puts the echelon higher for my next purchase
Really like the offhand thumb index point. Textured and concave with a lower ledge almost a budget gas pedal. Combine with the offhand upper texture (which more guns should have) recoil control should be good. Wish more guns would ditch the one-hand shooting thumb cutout and make the grip panel flat top to bottom or better yet have the upper portion of grip (offhand meat portion) flair out slightly.
I'd be interested in a G19 sized Echelon
Same here and if somebody comes out with frame modul that accepts Glock or SIG mags i would buy two since i have so many mags for those
Facts!
Or even a hellcat compact
G17 mos gen5. I really can't just say that I've never even held the echelon. I'm sure it's cool also. I like the mag release and optic plate for echelon.
Honestly the pistol the Echelon deserves to be paired against is the P320. The P320 was essentially Sig trying to take the P250 and turn it into something that would work for the trials, and with that they overlooked some things that resulted in an unsafe firearm. When Sig designed the P365 they used a different safety mechanism, and actually had the time to design a striker fired FCU pistol from the ground up.
HS Produkt wasn't first, but the question now is did they do the FCU pistol best. It really seems like they took aspects from each manufacturer and packed it into one package.
These days the only handguns I buy and shoot are for the purpose of concealed carry. Based on that, the absolute top attribute I require in the guns I carry concealed is reliability. I shoot most every gun I've shot from various makers plenty well enough, so how I shoot the gun is a matter of very slight, minuscule variations. So my ability to shoot the gun ranks with me as a distant second. I understand many guns CAN be reliable. But for the reason I stated above, I know without any doubt my Glocks will work whenever I need them to, so most times I'm carrying one on my belt. Glad to see more makers coming out with solid platforms though. Thanks for the video.
Which Glock do you carry for concealed ? I would say in my option the 48 is the best concealed carry Glock. Or the 19 and next the 26 but the echelon is for if you carried a Glock 17 as that is it compatible size wise and it kicks the Glock butt in every way and for the money everyone usually gets a Glock and instantly modifies it this gun is perfect without having to do anything at all to it
@@RedDawnReadiness Yep, you nailed it, usually a 48 super nice for IWB carry. Plus mine's bone stock except for the night sights I installed, had to do that of course, but I kept the rest factory fresh. I'm now using 15 round Dagger Micro mags from PSA though, so that's nice. One day way in the future, the Echelon may have the kind of reliability reputation as Glock does, but that sure as hell isn't now.
Thanks for this comparison.
Echelon, 17 isn't a good hand fit.
G19 is the only Glock I have had that is "nice" to shoot for me personally. I have had a 20, a 26, and a 30. Didn't like either of the 26 or the 20 sold them after a couple hundred rounds trying to get used to them. The 30 sf was useable/decent. But just wasn't going to carry it.
For you
I hate the comparison 😢😢😢
@@Witham1836Exactly. I think the new Echelon is going to be a great platform providing no nasty surprises pop up surrounding the reliability of it. Having said that it obvious that the Glock platform has bee a good “hand fit” for millions of users. I don’t gravitate towards some of Glock’s models but the Gen4 G19 has fit quite well in my hand and it shows up on targets.
I’ve been a fan of the CZ75 platform for years and when the P10C became available I was giddy about getting my hands on CZ’s first serious effort at a polymer striker pistol. At first I thought that the ergos were so good that my shooting was going to improve markedly. Long story short, the P10c is long gone and my G19 is still likely be the first one I grab for going out the door. I admit that I am quite interested in the new Echelon and I want it to sell very well because if it does SA will be more inclined to offer a .45acp variant with 13 round and 16 round mags.

Great video, thanks for sharing this information.
We're looking at purchasing the Echelon. Definitely looks like a great pistol.

Thank you.
Glock compared to the Echelon, is like comparing a 1990s Impala to a 2023 Porsche in terms of modern features.
I am not following. Porsche is a car maker and Impala is a car model.
@bloodycrepe Let's be even more politically correct. One is a ball of atoms and the other is a bigger ball of atoms. That accurate enough for you?
@@POPJack1717 let's not, troll
Well considering glock doesn't really change much on their guns. They're not known for innovations. Just working
Handled one a couple days ago. What really impressed me with it is just how much better it felt than pretty much any P320 I handled at the same store, including SIG's high end models. I don't think the Echelon has an exceptionally amazing trigger (It's really not close to a PPQ or PDP, but it's nice), but it made even those $1400 race gun P320s feel like a gritty gen 3 glock trigger.
I own the P320 AXG Scorpion and the Eschelon. Both have really nice triggers and the Eschelon isn’t that much better than the Sig. In fact the Sig had a lighter pull weight
@@RepentorPerish77 I literally pulled them side by side. The P320s did not impress.
@@InvidiousIgnoramus well it’s subjective b/c I think it’s pretty good
We’re talking 20 round of pure excellent cuts I just picked up my Echelon for 525.00 brand new at the gun show today Houston Texas
You mentioned that you are in central Florida is that brevard or orange county?
The Echelon is everything I would put into a G17 without the cost of the parts and the time to install them. I was getting ready to buy a G17 (to add to my G19 and G43x) when the Echelon was released. It is the Glock I always wanted out of the box.
I feel that! I’ve got a Glock 17 gen 5 and I’m not the biggest fan of it. Feels like a block in my hands and this echelon seems a lot smoother of a feel for me. I’m debating on trading it in
Anyone else wondering about atf background check numbers for the month of July? Looks awesome!!
Echelon for sure I have both and I had the echelon for a week now got 750rds through it been at the range every other day no malfunctions an seem UA-cam’s of torture testing an echelon the truth
Personally I'll stick with my Glocks, not because they're better but because they're what I'm used to and comfortable with. That said, this is definitely and step above the XDs, the features out of the box look spot on, but it has its own proprietary magazines. Their MOS solution is genius. I wish other manufacturer's would do this. The Echelon is definitely in a crowded market, but if someone likes Croatian plastic fantastic, it looks to be a good option.
Glock17 nice old gun ( 1982 if I remember correctly ), but I need something new / upgraded.
Never had my 17 G4 let me down in all the 1000's of rounds run through it. Glock matches, IDPA matches... Falling Steel and Steel Challenge. One of my kids even learned to shoot center-fire with it. It's dead accurate and just runs... BUT... My EDC is an Xd M2 in 45 ACP. I love them both. Gonna have to give one of these a test drive... HS Product builds great strike fired guns.
The old offerings were terrible and prone to failure. The grip safety bricked quite a number of guns in classes (I've talked to multiple instructors at my local range about the guns they see fail the most).
@@Osprey1994 Never have either of my Xd M2's 45's laid down on me. Ive run everything from reloads to +P stuff through them. Can't say I enjoy the +P stuff though. The only thing I have discovered they do not like are SWC rounds. That match grade barrel with the fully supported chamber only like RN profiles.
I hope there is a Glock 19 sized echelon with a safety option
Oh yeah I’ll buy that right away 😆
The barrel is a quarter inch longer and you can get the smaller modular grip for it.
You know that's coming next. Give it 4-6 months.
The Echelon keeps stepping up competition to Glock and that’s a good thing…but that Glock track record is brand equity at it’s most robust for a reason. I’ll wait on the Springfield till they circulate longer for sure and work out any kinks.
What model Trijicon is that please.
Saving to buy an Echelon now.
Glock only comes with an rmr plate now, fwiw. Love Glocks but the Echelon seems like a great package so far.
Don't forget plastic sights.
@@POPJack1717get over the sights already, parrot
Great review… but the title should have been “Glock…soo obsolete” or “Glock…Who’s your daddy” or “ Glock drowns in Springfield” 😂
Nice
Echelon for me also!
Springfield smoke glock tired design. I’m a Glock guy because they just work but hopefully this can pro-form as well. I would love charge, so I’m hopeful. The XD failed huge but hopefully a lesson or two was learned
I mean, the FCU looks like they took more time copying Sig's homework than Glock. Black and low bore axis does not a Glock copy make. Sig has a pretty big presence in the LE space, and this gun fits the Sig 6000 series Safariland holsters, and it also has the modularity of the Sig. Glock is Glock, they aren't really worth taking aim at...but Sig is a different story. Give customers the modularity they want, with other features I often hear people wish the P320 had.
GRIP ZONE.....Je,je,je....Who's brilliant idea? On the XD'S....
my echelon can with another 3 rnd baseplate allowing me to have two 20 rounders
Yeah, I just bought an XDM elite, and the fiber optic sights are EXCELLENT, but I need a plate for the red dot, so it’s one or the other, I think. That’s freaking idiotic!
And then you'll need suppressor sights to cowitness, I've been there done that
I got the echelon for 535 with the 3 dot version.
For me, the Echelon is superior in almost every way except the most important. I'm too used to Glock swept back grip angle. Muscle memory causes me to shoot low with the Echelon and it's more vertical grip.
They might make the echelon in a subcompact because of the chassis upgrade
im thinking about buying an echelon since i want to carry full size, and my roommate carries a 17 already lol
I’ve seen on another video the only optic that needs a plate for the echelon is the hex series of optics, which is weird since that’s Springfields optic. Doesn’t matter to me because in my opinion the hex is a crap optic I wouldn’t buy anyways, but odd non the less
So ironic lol
Describing a Glock trigger as "crisp"... Is like describing a dump truck as "sleek".
The Echelon now has me scared, after multiple magazine failures. Complete failures. As in, "you are going to die if you have to rely on this pistol to save your life" kind of failures. I love the gun, but can't depend on it, as of right now.
The “mag failures” was from people swapping the 17rnd base plates for the extended 20 rnd, and failing the read the instructions and some came from the factory with the base plate put on incorrectly, but after that its been reliable
The only thing I'm confused about is the different sized frames ... They don't tell you anything about them whatsoever, they just say this is a small frame, this is a large frame. What does that mean though?! 😂
Got my account deleted by the open minded fine folks at YT awhile back.
New accoujbt5earlier this year, and this was one of the channels I forgot about.
Glad it popped up on my feed again.
Subbed- again.
I hope Springfield upgraded the quality of the firing pins.
So these won’t share holsters
The echelon looks so big!
Good for civilian customers to have yet another new carry/HD option that “checks off all the boxes”. PD’s and military won’t go away from Glock/Sig, however, neither will I.
I paid 600 for a echelon and the gen 5 is about 620 Mos
Echelon
17 G5 vs Echelon
Echolon , lots of feature for the money.
I'm confused is it 21 or 20
Run that Springfield against the ZEV OZ9
cant even compare a glock to a modern gun... they are terrible compared to updated modern designs in feature set, price, and adaptability.
If you can't beat em, copy em.
Sometimes the copy is better than the one 'copied'. Case in point Daniel Defense vs Colt (Armalite). Btw this gun isn't a copy, it's a night and day improvement upon.
Everything is basically Glock with better ergos. And people want those better ergos.
Glock is the old dinosaur in the room at this point, sort of like the rmr. They dont want to give the consumer what they want so other companies will. M&P 2.0, P10 series and VP9 here.
Bingo. They better learn from Colt what not giving customers what they want and keeping up with current trends will do to you.
@POPJack1717 I'm sorry to say but Glock and Trijicon have fallen behind and unless they come out with something groundbreaking, they are/will be old news.
Did you find the grip angle to be the same (22 degrees) or less than the glock? Just don't like the glock's because of their grip angle.
It's not the same. The Echelon is closer to a 1911 grip angle (superior imo). Actually almost the same as the Walther PDP if you are familiar.
@@fixitquick79 -,yes way familiar and have one, as well as the p320, both I like a lot, thanks for the reply!
@@fixitquick79 If it's like Walther, then that's great.
It’s just funny, every gun that comes out has to be compared to a Glock. Everyone is saying “Glock killer” no matter they hate on Glock’s it’ll never go away. It’ll always be the gold standard. It’s not perfect of course but it’s here to stay for a long long long time. A new gun will come out soon and it’ll again be compared to a Glock. Hahaha
Good review sir as always.
Glock has been "out of touch" for quite a while now. They have precisely two things going for them; simple longevity, and aftermarket support. That's about it. In every other facet of firearm design they've been left in the dust. That doesn't make them any less of a decent handgun, but they're no longer the "wonder nine" they used to be.
Most other brands have more or less caught up, and are now as reliable as a Glock. Today's gun consumer is more or less spoilt for choice with quality striker fired polymer handguns. This Echelon will need to prove itself reliable, but it outpaces the Glock in every other category - so only time will tell. I will say the Echelon does have almost every single feature you'd want on a modern service handgun - so someone did their homework.
Springfield is known for major issues with their firearms. What are you on?
@@bloodycrepe Springfield aside, the guy is right. There are a plethora of other options out there that "better" than Glock at a lot of things. That said, I don't think those things are necessarily worthy of dumping one of another for.
@@joshuabracke5775 can you list a few? But please do list what they are "better" at exactly.
@@bloodycrepe Sure. Better trigger, sights, ergos ect would be, to name a few the M&P 2.0, Walther PDP, CZ P10C, Steyr M9 A2, etc.
Notice how I said "better" and not BETTER. That is, those are subjective things. Most of the options out there, save HS Produkt, FN and probably Sig, do virtually the same thing, ie shoot a bullet reliably, with some ergo changes. Glock just did it first commercially successfully. And with that comes all of the advantages of aftermarket and track record, so the other manufactures have had to compensate with bells and whistles that most Glocks don't have.
That said, I still think Glock is absolutely the best in terms of simplicity and overall maintenance. All of those other options are more complicated and difficult to service on your own.
@@joshuabracke5775 thanks for trying at least. I've seen people writing this over and over again without giving a single reason why they think this or that is better than a glock.
I personally carry CZ P01 just because I prefer SA/DA for appendix carry. However, like you said, nothing you mentioned is any better than a glock. CZ P10C and Walther PDP are one the of worst options out of the box in my opinion. I don't know enough about Steyr to comment on it.
I couldn't agree more with your last paragraph. With glock performance trigger thrown into mix, they are very hard to beat.
🔥👍
I just bought a gen 4 lol they just phased out the gen 3
It definitely looks nice and will be a nice update over the aging XD, but ultimately it's just another polymer framed striker fired 9mm in a very crowded market space. Next year something newer and shinier will come out from another company. Rinse and repeat.
I would say it is late to party but it’s the best thing at the party. When they make a Glock 19 size and it’s already interchangeable like a Glock 47 which just showed up to the game it really is leagues above everything else on the market, mainly… fits any optic, fits any light, totally modular, no plates and the best trigger and best slide on the market for a stock gun. It’s definitely not just another polymer striker fire gun
The Echelon is what you might get, if you had $500 modifications done to an already similarly priced Glock. 😏
except i KNOW the glock will go bang EVERY time..
too bad there is no Gen 5 available the trigger is supposed to be much improved
Too early to tell. Gotta give it a minute.
Everything looks good except the new mag type, whoever comes out with frame modul that accepts Glock or SIG mags for these will make a fortune!
My glock 17 gen4 was $365 , the echelon i paid $735 with tax lol glock is better and cheaper.
Glock all day!
everyone shoots glock like a glock, then the echelon with lights and sights..
My Glock(s) work fine
Stock pistol against an optic mounted pistol, yeah that fair. Not
Would be much better if you actually watched the video before wagging your fingers over a keyboard. He actually points out that there is a Gen 5 MOS version of the Glock so the Glock can be Optics Ready but he doesn't happen to have one.

@@raylandraybels9462Why are you upgrading anything on a Glock other than the sights? It isn't a range toy for you to show off to boyfriends. It is designed to save your life and has done a damn good job of it. How many people do you know have used a gun in self defense say after they had to kill someone, man that trigger pull was gritty.
@@mke259 okay, after you change the sights, and apart from mag and holster availability; what does the glock do better?
Glocks track record is unbeatable!!! Springfield armory is a traitor … lol I’ll stick with my stock Glock 😊
@@raylandraybels9462 How does the Springfield do a better job at stopping the threat than a Glock? Again you are missing the point, will a 9mm from a Glock kill better than a Hi-point? It is a tool designed to defend your life and the chances are high you won't even use the sights in a defensive situation because of how fast it will happen or how close it may be a point shooting. The Glock is proven to be reliable, that should be all you need at the end of the day and what puts it over the Springfield and everything else in that category.
Glock made polymer firearms trendy and P365 made Micro 9s trendy. Just like P365 is no longer the best micro 9, Glock is no longer the best polymer gun. Starting a trend is not the same as being the best.
To be fair, shoulda used a G17 Gen 5 MOS to compare
Still a block on an old 80s design. Didn't matter which glock he used. They are all the same.

Gl💩ck is so outdated and was left behind.
that echelon is one ugly ass gun. glocks are just better guns overall. companies keep trying to gimmick up their guns to beat glock and it won't happen.
