I like the militaw but not the smolt and mistaken. Giant Mouse model is pretty cool with that blackwash blade (love that "greywash" look). That Alliance Design Corbin is wicked cool!
May I love that mistaken I wanted to get one, but the only ones they had left at the time had the Damascus blade and it just made the knife look like I had too much going on. The Milataw With the 80s that carbon looks good with the DLC for sure . The Schrade is alright especially for the price. But I definitely agree with Kevin. Wish they had make a drop point or Warrencliffe out of the Blade. The petrified fish knife is cool as wish they would’ve used something besides brown (poo color) on the handles. And last was certainly not the least really really like the Remette gravity OTF especially with the DLC coating just way up my price range.. thanks For the five different knife reviews in one.👍Great video Kevin👍
The mistaken is cool Johnathon styles has had alot of designs come out this year it seems which is cool. The giantmouse atelier with the burlap man I wish it would have came with the same steel as the jutland in burlap (vanadis) that would have made it a set in my eyes kinda great video man 👍
Sometimes I wonder if companies don't jimp the flipper tabs because that's what the side of your index finger is touching when you hold the knife in a saber grip or whatever. Never been an issue for me with any of my jimped flippers, but maybe they're worried about creating a hot spot
I really like that Giant Mouse even though it has micarta scales. The OTF Schrade can sit at the store with the other OTF's.
Of course they release the GM after I bought and received my Atelier in Ti the day before.
Yeah GM does a great job with micarta, always nice quality micarta and always contoured
I wonder if they don't like to jimp where it hits the stop pin because it could deform over time compared to solid steel.
It's that wicked wax! Just kiddin' (those thumbstuds really seem bad). Good comment on that sharpening choil.
The properties of a DLC coating depend on the material it's applied to, and especially the material's hardness. Titanium has a very low HRC (35-45) compared to blade steels, and also compared to the steel bit. The reason why DLC does not make the titanium scratch resistant can be explained by comparing the DLC coating to for example a very thin layer of glass. If you put a very thin layer of glass on top of a perfectly flat block of metal, and if you then apply force to the glass with your finger, the glass will not break. Like for example your smartphone screen. If you put the same thin layer of glass on top of a flat layer of sand, applying force to the glass would cause the glass to break and your finger will make a dent in the sand.
The DLC on top of titanium is similar to the layer of glass on top of sand. If you use a metal bit to scratch DLC titanium, you basically break through the thin layer of DLC and scratch the titanium underneath, because the steel bit is much much harder than the titanium.
Therefore applying DLC is mostly for aesthetic purposes. It could also explain why on blacked out knives you often see a DLC coated blade and a PVD coated handle, which is a bit more economical and serves the same purpose.

Yeah the Atelier is great but the lockbar access sucks ass. That’s why I’d recommend the micarta or CF ones so that you can easily dremel out the scale to fix the access, my CF one is cut back as far as it can go before hitting through to the liner and it’s fantastic like that. Also rounded off the jimping on the the lockbar cause IMO it’s way too sharp
And the action on mine was quite stiff on the drop for ages but broke in really well over time, ended up putting in skiffs but by the time I did it didn’t really need it anyway. But yeah it’s really smooth now
On the Swordfish if you let go of the button before the blade goes fully in, will those fin/gates close on the edge?
