I have a Captain in the Kingmaker and the previous 2 lasts. The 1st last toe was slim, almost pointed and the curve of the waist is the most pronounced very dress boot meets service boot. In the 2nd iteration, the toe cap is shortened and more rounded imagine Iron Ranger w/o the toe bump. The boot is more straight and the most clunky of the 3 (not that they are clunky on foot but). The Kingmaker is not as elegant as the 1st last and not as clunky as the 2nd last. Another difference is the 2nd introduces rough-out heel counter and Kingmaker adds grooved channel stitching. The Kingmaker is the best iteration and fit thus far imho. The only thing missing in the upper is a partial tongue stay.
I think they made it better, in August I ordered the president boot in rugged and resilient matte black, and the last of this boot is more comfortable than the encore last that they use for the regular captain. Yes I'd say the kingmaker last is awesome

They didn't ruin the last but they DID ruin the Arizona Adobe color by making it so much darker than it used to be.
I got thursday seconds with this last. Very beautiful boot, and I enjoy wearing it at work for 12 hours straight.
