You said it, brother. I was a teenager in the '70s, and these bands are in MY Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, with honors. Man, those dogs could SING.
Songs like this and groups like Three Dog Night really sank into our souls when we were young back in the 60's and 70's. When you picked up a new album, you not only listened to it many, many times, but you really paid attention to every little bit of it. You learned every song on your album by heart and could sing all the words. We weren't as distracted by other things back then: TV wasn't on 24-hours a day, no Internet or computers, no cell phones. There was time to listen to your music, talk to your friends, read plenty of books and ponder your life. It was a great time to grow up.

The outstanding vocals of this group notwithstanding, you really have to give props to the four musicians backing them. Mike Allsup's guitar parts were so well crafted along with Jimmy's outstanding keyboards, all superbly anchored by Joe's bass and Floyd's drums. I don't think I can cite a four-piece band better than these guys.

Michael Allsup really is a seriously underrated guitarist! Listen to how he completely took the song and rocked it, along with this kick-ass band! The original musicians of Three Dog Night were phenomenal, as well as Chuck , Cory, and Danny.
Sounds as great today as it did waaaay back then. These guys just kicked ass.
Nothing can compare to 70s music; best band ever! Thank you guys so much, meet you in heaven one day Cory.
Gospel rock is just as worthy as hard rock or soft rock. Music would not be the same without Three Dog Night.
I always thought this was a great version of this song. Thanks for all the great music Three Dog Night. It's time to be inducted into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. It should have been years ago!
IMO it is THE version of the song!
Me too........???how are you doing...???
It's time to get new judges in the Rock and roll Hall of Fame that absolutely get it and put Three dog night Grand funk railroad and many other bands in there and get these arcade clowns that know nothing about judging they might as well be on the supreme Court in Washington
@@coltpurves nobody did this song better than Three dog night including the nightclub singer Michael Buble who absolutely barbecues this song I would love to barbecue him in a music contest and yes I would go face to face with him
The outstanding vocals of this group notwithstanding, you really have to give props to the four musicians backing them. Mike Allsup's guitar parts were so well crafted along with Jimmy's outstanding keyboards, all superbly anchored by Joe's bass and Floyd's drums. I don't think I can cite a four-piece band better than these guys.
I love these guys so much. Big childhood memories
Had forgotten how freakin’ good Cory’s cover of this song was. They all just slayed on this track, band as well. Golden Biscuits was one of my first albums and I wore it out, literally, and had to buy a second copy a couple of years later. So many great cuts.
So much passion and soul. If a young guy today has this passion and he auditions you are talking instant success with a record contract.
I grew up listening to these guys. Some of the best music of its day.
Or any day! Fantastic voices & music! Brings back so many memories..love you Chuck, Corey & Danny!
Love how the drummer sings also!!! Righteous dude! Ohhh. Loved that time of my life. Young, no clue of real life and the BEST MUSIC EVER!!!! 👍🏻☮️❤️🤘🏻❤️
Wish I could bring this time of my life back♥️
From what i heard the drummer is tommy chongs brother in law
RIP Corey Wells, one of the greatest singers of his time.
Slow down baby
So true, and Floyd Sneed gets very little props. He is better than "the great" Charlie Watts.
@@KostasMacris Who was better? Maybe Eric Burdon but none of the Beatles sang better.
@@KostasMacris Who was better? Maybe Eric Burdon . None of the Beatles sang better.
Before Three Dog Night blew up into the incredibly successful band they became, I got to see them twice at the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino California and they were absolutely incredible. Cory Wells absolutely stole the show singing this to close the show. They tore the roof off that place both times. Such an amazing band and three great vocalists .
My favorite group of my High School Days. brings great memories.
this is the very best recorded version of this song, no doubt..Cory Wells truly nails it, so understated yet very powerful and emotional..perfect...RIP, Mr Wells.
This is why they were so popular in the 70’s,,,like the romantic lyrics. Guys you got to hold her,,,squeeze her, tenderness we crave it

The music world is saddened to hear that Cory passed away last night 10-20-15. I just heard this through one of the other Three Dog Night members. Thanks for the great music and voice. RIP Cory.
for u love
Cory was absolutely phenomenal
Thanks for finding such early footage of Three Dog Night. I've never seen them quite this early before. Cory was really into this song.
John Fugazzi Def rivals Otis!!
I'm 64 and have been looking for new music to listen to. What happens ? I end up back to the music of this era, it brings back some great memories
Oh my gosh, Three Dog Night and Cory Wells nailed it. My favorite song by them. Love, love, love the video. Such awesome talent. RIP Jimmy and thanks for the memories
I totally agree.
One of my all time favorites, they played this is a club and after hours l went to in the late 60 s and early 70s.The floors were full of Guys and Gals,we danced and made the floor shake with our moves. Those were the days,l had so much fun back then!🥰
This song moved me in 1968. I was 11. It still moves me, and remains my favorite TDN tune. It may be responsible for my puberty kicking in! Yeah, I said it.
Hello Kristi how are you doing today
A Monday night of music and this has been played mmmm several times.. he’s has such a groove going please don’t stop...

They should have been in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. A great band!
This band was my first concert at the age of 15 or so. I went along with my sister to the Hampton Roads concert hall in Virginia in the early 70’s. I’ve been a fan ever since.
Oh my God what a voice !!!! AWESOME VERSION !!!!!!
In the Summer of 1998 my 14 yr old son and I saw Three Dog Night live at the Muskingum County Fair🎉Excellent
They were one of my favorites growing up in the 70's
Brings back the days of teen hops, and hugging up some young sweet girl and slow dancing . Lord please change us back to those days.
My favorite group love them! Still listening at 62!
Hello Sharon how are you doing today
This song really shows off the strength of his voice.
RIP Cory
I just had the pleasure of meeting Chuck and Danny on a bus here in Tucson. Quite an honor.
They need to be in the Rock N Roll Hall- No Question!
Timothy Arts Just proves what a Joke the Hall is
Agreed !!!

@@paulsoxl7739 .. Agree! 😠
AGREE!!
When you listen to this band from the early beginnings, as the lead singers all say ,it was the band that made it all happen for them. Yes the band was unreal but the three guys up front could sing their asses off also!!! Thanks for the music 3 dog night!!!!
Every one of them are outstanding musicians. Top shelf all the way. But those vocals. The best 3 male rock vocalists ever assembled. Each one an incredibly powerful lead. Which is what separates them from all the other great harmonizing bands of their era.
There is absolutely nobody on the planet including Michael bubble and Otis Redding who wrote the song that does it better than Three dog night
@@greenlightwilly absolutely and total agreement with you nobody did this song better than Three dog night and I cannot stand Michael bubble and his nightclub version his Frank Sinatra voice does not impress me and if he ever wanted to go up against me in a music contest I would more than welcome it
My first concert in 1972. Opening act was some guy called Rod Stewart.
Saw the same show at Detroits Olympic theater. Johnny Winter also played.Six months later bolth Rod and Johnny were head lining shows in Detroit.
my most favourite rendition of this song. Scrumptious to my ears. Thank you, Papa Chaz!
Great memories of an unmatched era in music...RIP Cory, he rocked this song! I loved this guy. His voice lives on forever.
Crazy strong voice. One of my all time favorite groups!
THREE DOG NIGHT, you sang to my soul growin up with you; you’re in my blood. Best music of that era!
Never seen this before. Had no idea they covered this. God Bless UA-cam!
brings back school dances 70- 73, good times
Always loved TDN growing up in the 70s and went to several shows between 1998-2010. Always put on a great show and yes, Cory was always my favorite. The guy had rhythm in his soul like nobody else. Sad day today, but the music lives on
My first concert wow never got any better than this. Thank you 😊
My first concert too! Winston-Salem, NC - 1970. I was 13 or 14 years old. They are still one of my all time favorite bands. Their music evokes amazing memories from my past.❤
Beautiful to see Cory wearing a Rosary. Great learning that he led a good family life and was a devout Catholic..God truly blessed his heart.
jG...and another thing, Cory was married for 50 years and was from Buffalo, NY where he died of cancer.😢
Always loved this song, this is a fabulous cover by Cory so much talent a wonderful voice. Great band.
Oh my. I can’t stop listening to this song. What feel. I believe he knows he nailed it.
Pretty crazy he didnt drink no drugs really didnt party was married to the same gal his whole career what a guy it can be done😁
I know I saw him say that in an interview! Almost unheard of back in those days!
@@JeffHorne-n5dReally?
OMG the memories flooding back in...parties my parents would have back in the 70's! One of my dad's favorites!
Hello Teresa, How are you doing?
Rest In Peace, Cory Wells. Thanks for the music and memories....
I was barely 10 years old when 3 Dog night came on the scene . Had no idea there were 3 exceptional lead singers. I can see the egos flying and fighting.
All great soulful voices. Make me week at the knees.... Come to Denver... Many love you here.
Hello Lisa, How are you doing?
Hello Lisa where are you from
great music & memories of life, phenomenal sound, Cory is magnificent, one of the best groups of all time, definitely belong in the hall of fame
They played in my high school gymnasium along with Booker T and the MG’s in 1969. What a freshman year!
Classic rock N roll voice. Thanks Cory, enjoyed the great pipes! RIP
RIP Cory,, thank you so much for bringing your talent to bless our lives..
I've seen them 3 times! 2 in the 70's and again 2014!! So glad I could hear corey 1 more time! He's the greatest!
