  • This little Holden Red Motor makes good power on the dyno at Powerhouse Engines. What a great engine for a LC/LJ Torana or early Holden.

    Fantastic. A motor everyone can appreciate and not a computer in sight. That's really impressive HP!

    what a great little motor , bit of fence wire, pvc tape , pliers screwdriver, that's all you needed for side of the road repairs to get you home,
    would go forever , simple easy and cheap to hot up, loved the sound of mine ,391 wade cam, triple webers, 6800 snap gear changes , how aussies that

    Back in my youth, I had a HR Premier,which I did a heap of work to 🤔I swapped out the 179 and power glide trans , to A 186 hp bored and blueprinted , a yells terra head from a race XU1 and cam also with alloy timing gears , slip diff from X2 , 4 speed all Aussie gearbox, along with a few other trinkets , upgrades to suspension and brakes 👍Went Like a scolded cat ! Why didn't you just use a 202 cubic inch Holden six for the build in the first place ?
    They're basically a stroked 186 cubic inch engine anyway plus it would save yourself a lot of work by not having to grind down the main bearing journals to fit inside the 179 cubic inch engine block !

      I've ran 350 Holleys on 202s; if you're going to stick with a 2-barrel you're MUCH better off running a Weber or better yet, a properly jetted Varajet with all the anti-pollution crap ripped off.

    just seeing this I wouldn't have built a holden 6 that bad in the 70's 80's all that money spent and then fit a shity exhaust system in extractors when holden split headers would have allowed it to rev to it's full potential sht even putting those things on a 186s droped the revs by about 10 grand through the gears

      not sure what numbers you are quoting there. but as far as 1970s australian 6's go the hemi 265 has the most potential for power, touring car masters shows that with cameron tilley's 265 hemi making 500hp. the 202 toranas are good but maxed out at about 350hp. hp per cube isn't that far different though. it's just a bigger engine.

    • @brucelamberton8819
      @brucelamberton8819 2 роки тому +1

      Seriously??? A 265 has more capacity (over 30%) than a 202 - more capacity equals more power.
