  • In this episode we are coding options in my 2024 F54 Mini Cooper Clubman JCW. This was the same method i used for my 2015 S and my 2016 F56 JCW.
    BimmerLink and BimmerCode were the two apps used in this video, my bluetooth adapter is the OBDlink CX, avialable here: amzn.to/3QM3DdT

    I recommend getting a WIFI Enet adapter. They are the same price (around $15) but will also allow you flash tune and use programs like ESYS. Also most bluetooth adapters are very slow. Accessing Body Domain usually takes at least 30 seconds on a bluetooth vs about 5 seconds on WIFI.

    Do you know coding will void your warranty? Have you had any issues with your dealership when you take it in for service?

      The laws are pretty well documented, an aftermarket product or change can only void a warranty if the failure was the direct result of the modification. So for example if you code your car and your seat starts falling apart, no warranty issue.. If you code your car and ruin the combi in the process, warranty void.
      I don't take my cars to the dealership for service, I service my vehicles myself.
      That being said, you can return the car to stock before taking it to the dealership if that was something you were worried about. I have had warranty work done on both my mercedes and my vw while the cars were coded without issues.

    With these apps, is there a quick way to reset to all factory defaults at once?

      you can restore a backup on a per module basis. like if youre in engine you can restore the backup for all of the settings in that section. i dont know of a way to do it for all sections at the same time.

    When you are activating some features such as boost, coolant temperatures where are they displayed? Are they visible in the central display. My other question pertains to the heads up display. I have mine with the JCW option enabled but inside the circle it shows the gear that you are in only when in manual shift mode. Is there a way to show the gear you are in at all times? I am wondering if that is a coding option. Thanks, Steve

      they are displayed on the phone in the "dashboard" view. they are not in the central display or the HUD.
      I do not see a way to code the gear into the HUD when not in manual mode. there may be an expert option, but there isnt anything as a default in bimmercode.

    You said the phone can't be connected to the car when updating as the radio may come on. So do you delete the connection when doing this and reconnect after you are done?

      yes that is the recommendation. It may not be an issue, but the app specifically tells you to do it so i just delete the car and repair when im done.

    Isn’t ASD to quiet your exhaust?

    • @improvedgarage
      @improvedgarage  Рік тому

      kind of. ASD pumps fake noise into the cabin to try and cancel out outside noise.
