I was fitted with Cleveland Zipcore XL back in February. Always played Pings. My playing buddies can’t believe how well I hit my irons now. The Cleveland’s are outstanding! Great video and breakdown of all the irons.
@@melwalker2135They are still really good. Easy to hit and I hit the ball really high. They are holding up well and I still very much enjoy playing them.
great video, i've been adding more and more clevelands to my bag and haven't regretted a single one.. this video really helped my mind up with the zipcores, looking forward to ordering them from your store, looks like you actually have some leftys, fingers crossed!
I went from Mizuno mp-20 to the titelist t-350. So awesome to have the forgiveness. Now shooting from 85-90. Now shooting 78-82. Great move to game improvement clusvs
I am still hitting my old Ping Zing 2's. I am about an 18 handicapper. I played when I was young, and now I am in my late 40s. Everything is harder now from a physical standpoint (flexibility, joints, etc.). I want to play for a full year to make sure I am going to stick with golf this time around before I go drop $1000 plus on a set of irons, but I look forward to seeing how my game improves when I get there. Great video!
I would be really interested in a comparison video for the Cleveland Zipcore XL and the Srixon ZX4 MKII irons. I know the ZX4 has a forged face and the Cleveland is cast, but I'm curious about the differences in feel and forgiveness.
I just ordered the Cleveland Halo XL. With my old 7i averaged 155-165 yards. I hit 20 balls at my local PGA store, and I averaged 178 with rollout. That is a hugh difference.
Anyone know what the song playing @12:45 while testing the TaylorMade Qi10’s? It’s like Reggae-ish. Like Stick Figure or Rebelution or something similar.
I personally have the PXG P series irons. Love them for the short irons but cannot for the life of me hit the long irons. Maybe I need to mix in the XP's for the long irons in the future and have a mixed set.
Cleveland XL halos gave what I was looking for... (18 handicap) I made some great shots approaching the green my last few rounds, confidence I've never had before...
I used to play Hogan Pro’s and switched to those and they sound the same with amazing distance and spin. Also had the lofts adjusted to keep the flight down. They are amazing, the sound is mind blowing so pure!
Just got mine this season. First custom fit clubs I’ve had and they are unreal. Great spacing and straight hitting. No surprise bombs like with the Taylor made Qi’s they are much more consistent and feel way more satisfying
Great video. I play exactly what you said about the Srixons. I play zx4, 4 and 5 iron and 6-AW with the zx5's. Excellent all the way through. I play at a 5 hcp and was considering going with all zx4's but the offset is a bit too much because my misses are left and this may make it worse. Thoughts?? Thanks.
Have the TAKOMO Forged Hollow Body 101’s which are similar to Taylormade P790’s and can work the Ball ,Shot 73 last week , Lower Ball Flight! $460.00 Delivered . Also have the King Cobra Forged Tech Hollow Body which are more blade like but love them too but lot more$$$$
@@raymondgoyco5426they didn’t include the Pings because the company wouldn’t send them the irons…they mentioned that at the beginning of this video…just saying…
Great video. My only comment would be about semantics. I would categorize the Mizuno HM HL as a "super game improvement" iron. When I think "game improvement" I think the regular Hot Metal and the Pro with the regular being for the upper range of the mid-handicapper and the pro being in the lower range of the mid-handicapper. Don't know the other lines nearly as well so I don't know if they are apples-to-apples or apples-to-oranges to the HM HL's from that perspective.
What about the Wilson Staff dynapower, either the forged or the game improvement. Although strong lofted, the game improvement irons still have plenty of height and stopping power, as well as forgiveness.
WOW! I want to replace my most beautiful iron set, that I've ever owned, Callaway X-Forged 2013 model. I'm 58 and play to around a 1 or 2 handicap across a few courses. Are these an upgrade? I figure my normal swing gets me 140 with a pitching edge and +10 on up the set. I carry a 5 iron but it's tough for me so I have a 4 and 3 hybrid. I have a slow swing speed.
My dad picked out the ai smoke for his new set yesterday. First new set in over a decade. He was hitting them super straight at the fitting. Very impressed!
Is the Taylormade Sim2 Max a good option? The set comes with a 4 iron and a sw compared to the Smoke or the Qi irons so Im leaning towards them. But do you think they're still good compared to the 2024 irons?
How would you combo set PXG’s in the top of the bag because of the loft change? Meaning for let’s say I hit the 0311 6p well but the 5 is hard, so do I go 5xp or 6xp and carry two 6’s? Thanks
Absolutely love my 0311 XP PXGs. Mishits stay on line. I don’t get to play and practice as much as I’d like bc of work but they’re one of my best golf purchases ever
I went to my local shop and hit some of the 2023 GI irons and randomly hit a few with the P790 and wow is that a sweet club. I'm probably not good enough to hit it, but the look at address and feel was so nice. My swing is busted and I pull everything left (no hook) so they fit me pretty well in that regard, I just wonder how forgiving they are.
I tried all these clubs at our proshop and I was also very impressed with zipcores. So I decided on the zipcores. Good looking clubs to. Thank you for the awesome review gentlemen.
That’s a surprise, Cleveland XL, just this afternoon I pulled my old Cleveland CG-16 irons out of closet considering replacing my Titleist T-350 irons. They brought back fond memories. Can you guys suggest a shaft for a 77 year old man seeking to improve?
i have some vintage Walter Hagens... one of the best golfers of all time... good enough for him = more than good enough for my amateur status... i got them for free when my grandfather passed away... he bought them new
I saw Rick Shields review the mizuno hot medal & pro. They had trouble holding greens. I'm hoping the HL is better. I wish you showed the decent angle and spin
I would try and hit them both if you can. The 790's look a little better in my opinion and feel great with the "Speed foam" but the cleveland feels great too and is more forgiving. So just depends on what you want. Hope that helps 👌
I am brand new to golf and am looking for my first set of irons. I looked at the Wilson irons and the stealth HD irons thus far. Would you recommend either of these or something different?
Wilson makes a great iron! We'll have content on that coming very soon. Taylormade makes good irons as well, i would highly recommend hitting some Cleveland irons if you can! They are fantastic 🙌🏼
I truly need to know, have you ever pured any iron and not have it feel buttery? So far in my experience, every club club feels great in the sweet spot.
Yeah, we agree. Different clubs feel different when they are flushed obviously. Stay tuned for the "Player Irons" top 5 video, we will discuss that feeling more in that video. Obviously the more of a "Player Iron" you hit the more you will feel that soft buttery feel but also the bad feeling off of misses. Thanks for watching 👍
I think we will probably start seeing leaked images around September but i'm not positive. Thats just when you can usually start seeing the mock ups and stuff.
Great review guys would agree with your decisions I must try those Cleveland’s! Shame on Titleist and Ping their irons are excellent but expensive. The only other brand would be Wilson Dynapwr to go head to head with Cleveland and similar price, but would suggest Cleveland might have the edge on looks and technology. Greetings from 🇬🇧.
I currently play P790 6 thru gap. How do you think Mizuno HMP stack up to them? Got an amazing deal so am getting a set soon of the HMP's. You guys make the best videos!!
We really did like the T350 but it didn't make the top for us in Game improvement. Stay tuned for the player's iron review. They'll be in that video for sure.

Miura PI-401 are awesome
Yeah they are!
Shafts are the most important
I don’t like the strong lofts of modern game improvement irons
The technology gives them the right apex to stop on the green, it's pretty much a non existent issue anymore, and u gain distance, 😉
Why ..explain pls
They lower the center of gravity which creates higher launch with a stronger loft and the stronger loft creates less deflection at the surface between the ball and the club so you get more ball speed to club head speed ratio.
If that type of club doesn’t work for your game because you have fast club head speeds then I’d recommend a forgiving players iron like the ping i230. I need the forgiveness but I swing faster than average and those clubs have been amazing for me
Loft is just one number. What about apex, distance, launch angle and descent angles they matter.

I hit the Ping 730 7 iron as a demo last week and for someone in their mid 60's I got awesome distance, 160 to 170. Still, I am hearing lots of good things about the Clevelands so worth a look! Thanks for the video.
That means that 72% of tour players (the majority) choose to not use Ping.😂
Titleist T350 Irons.
They are nice for sure!
