  • I took a quick trip out to San Francisco to run my 22nd full marathon and I brought my new GoPro with me. This is only my 2nd GoPro video ever; it's my first time running with it. Editing is all new to me as well, but this was fun and I'm glad I have a little memory of it to share.
Huge thanks to my friend, the amusing and talented Ken Pontac, who picked me up at the airport and spent the day with me. We went to a poetry slam (not in the video, to keep the video length down) and had some sushi. Also, a big thanks to my high school friend Erin who met me briefly after the race. Friends make everything better!!!
Here is my blog post about it, if you'd rather read:

I somehow ended up here thanks to youtube algorithms for all the running related videos I've been watching. Hello from Sydney Australia. Signed up to do my first marathon in September.

@@pinarosana Sydney marathon. It's in 6 weeks. A lot less hilly than the San Fran marathon judging by your vlog.

Thanks for coming to my city! TSFM is not an easy course by any means, but I'd like to think that it's some of the most beautiful 26.2 miles you'll ever pass through. I hope you enjoyed your time!

Hello! I'm running the SF marathon next Sunday. It's my first marathon ever. I'm wondering how much exactly I need to prepare. I have very limited experience with fueling my body during long runs like this. Should I bring my own running gels and hand-carried water bottle, or do they typically provide you all the energy gels and water you need during (or before/after) the run? Any insight to the experience as a whole would be great!

@@TrustInJus1indid you train while carrying a water bottle? I always run with a handheld, which I can refill at the aid stations, and I always bring gels in the pocket of the handheld, so I have something for fuel. I don't like to leave it to chance. They will have water stops and, if I remember correctly, at least 2 places with gels. When I ran it, they had Chargel, which was really good. I prefer to have hydration and fuel available whenever I want it, so I keep it on me.
If you don't carry your own, be sure to hydrate and fuel at all the aid stations, with water and electrolytes, especially if it's hot. Be safe.
You will get plenty of snacks and drinks afterwards.
Good luck! It's a beautiful course.

Congrats! I ran the same race - Corral C - 4 hours 16 minutes. My first race ever. San Francisco probably is the most beautiful city to run through, and the most brutal marathon to run in.
