Been watching since the 80s. Still watching. Love watching, seeing the character sketches, and analyzing a really brilliant, clean show. One of the best sitcoms ever!
I've been saying that exact same thing for a long time now. 40 years ago was 1984, which really doesn't seem like that long ago. But in the 80s, the 40s seemed like an eternity ago.
It's like they distilled the very essence of the show into one episode. This one, and "Murder at the Stratley" (whatever it was named) is another killer🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💖

I would love the 80s forever.
At 5:16 something flies across the room in front of Dick and Michael and you can hear the 'thunk' it makes as it hits the wall or whatever it hit. I wonder if anyone else caught that.
Does anyone know if the guy with the beany cap on his head was a character actor? I could have swore I saw him in something else. Guy with the mustache! 😁
This has a touch of a Twilight Zone episode where aliens picked a neighborhood to conduct an experiment on how they would react if strange events occurred. It turned out that paranoia gripped the neighborhood to the point where they killed a neighbor thinking he was a monster and neighbors started turning on neighbors. The only difference between the twilight zone episode and this one is that Bob Newhart made his a comedy!
I watched this show new, and although I like this show, this particular episode is moronic, although funny. Officer Sifflett is funny in this ep. The show always reminded me of Green Acres, because of the locals. Hilarious. Dick never wants to do anything. Don't the married men's wives ever go anywhere? They didn't even go to the party. What Micheal didn't realize was the original panic of War of the Worlds was in NYC, so naturally that got nation wide attention. No one would know what happens in this small and remote Vermont town.
It isn't on Amazon either. For those that may wonder why someone would want to purchase, It is nice for someone to be able to download and watch offline. Also, in my case, I collect my favorite shows, and would love to add this to my collection.

Season 1 and 2 of this show was so good. There was no swearing. You guys must have noticed how Dick and everyone else started swearing on pretty much every episode. Heaven forbid, we have a great television show without a couple of swear words in there. They think swearing make a person act so big when all it does it make them act like idiots!! One of the best comedies ever. When Stephanie guessed George was costumed as Joanna, I laughed so hard.

George: "Guess who I'm going as?"
Stephanie: "Joanna?"
