I like Dan but he does not match X's voice at all. It's almost as bad as X4 X and it's such a downgrade from Mark Gatha. I get Gatha is retired but Capcom couldn't find anyone with a remotely deep voice for X? Seriously?
@@davidle347 I would've gone with Lowenthal or Diskin instead but they cast Diskin as Nova and therefore according to that stupid rule that says Marvel and Capcom characters can't share voices, he can't be X. (it's why Ash Burch is Chunners and why Brian Bloom reprised Cap instead of RCS) My ideal VA for X that isn't Dr. Gatha would be Lyon Smith but if they can't have his co-worker Alyson Court playing Claire anymore, then there's no chance he'll be playing X ever.
5:48 THANK YOU I was super worried that they'd listen to people replying with "oh add assists and 3v3" Like at that point, just play marvel 3? Mvci being 2v2 is one of the things I like about it, with active tag, and no assists because I never really liked the assists of 3v3 mvc Tho I did love the assists in mvc1 as those were unique characters
In a perfect world, where we have MvC 4 where it has The X-Men 3V3 battles or mode A huge roster A good art style Screen shake Characters with correct proportions A good story mode where it makes sense Beautiful UI like persona 5, or SSBU for example And costume alt’s magneto has a curly mustache
Without turning it into MVC3, here's some ideas for simple presentation things that bugged me: 1) Fix the audio, camera blocking, and pacing for some cinematic supers. There were some supers where you dont know what is going on and the character would take forever to build up and perform the action. And they fill that time with weird dialogue sometimes. Also, fix Venom's voice lol 2) While we are in the topic of Supers, add more team unique team supers like the Bucky and Cap Unyielding Justice Super. Ex. Maybe Thor and Iron Man doing a super charged beam like in Endgame, Ryu and Ken double Hadoken. Cool shit. 3) Have an option to change Marvel Cinematic OST to classic Capcom Vs Themes for Marvel characters. 4) Would it possible to add comic effects in Supers without it being distracring, like in MvC3 where Wolverine would cut the oppomemt and it looks like he's ripping pages out of the comic book. I think that could work well with the artstyle. 5) More Colors and Skins. But what if we do Echo Fighters like in Smash? If you choose the Miles Morales skin for Spider-Man you get Miles' moveset. Zangief skin for Haggar, you get Zangief moveset. I think that could be one way to add new characters into the game without having to make new Character slots. 6) Can we get a better UI? I do not like how lifeless and devoid of character the Lifebars and Super Meter looks like. Everytime I look at the screen it doesnt feel like an arcade game, it feels like a mobile game because how the UI looks. For a game with flashy characters, the game lacks character and personality. Thank god for Gameplay making up for the slack of the visual department. 7) Longshot, but what if we can add every character that has ever been playable as a main character or assist in the game (including bosses). For a game calling itself "Infinite" we got a lackluster amount of characters. Balance be damned, but Id love to see it become true over time.
Restore the X-Men and get some new Fantastic Four reps. MvC began with the mutants at the height of X-Men mania in the late 90's/early 2000's, and would not be where it is today in terms of profile without them, and the fact that we got Doctor Doom and Super-Skrull before any Fantastic Four members or even characters like Annihilus from the Marvel side is criminal
To be fair, Blackheart and Shuma-Gorath came before Ghost Rider and Doctor Strange so this sort of thing isn't really new or bad from Capcom as it does show some cool inclusions as well as cool comprises like an all in one fighter based on the F4. That said, give us at least eight to twelve mutants (in terms of official MvC, mods can add as much as they want) and have Mr. Fantastic and/or The Thing as reps with Dr. Doom.
We could be like "mwke it mvc3" but honestly id want it to be more of a what if, like if we got a true squeal, hecause those that want v3 would play it anyway, maybe havr this be an entry point for new players
Yeah. I can see Chris and Black Widow doing a Bullet Ballet/Dance, Frank and Rocket making crazy ass weapons, Hawkeye and MH making a even bigger arrow storm and of course X and Zero something similar to they supers from PXZ2
Honestly, focusing on a smaller cast than even MVCI, and just making them as solid and fun as possible. I feel like there's a ton of characters that have passed from 3 to UMVC3 to MVCI with very little change, and they're just kinda *there*
That first one requires so much work to the point where they would just be building the game from scratch. Your better off either passing around the controller or playing 2xko when that comes out bro
For me, Franziska von Karma. She got screwed out of Tatsunoko vs Capcom and a whip fighter from Ace Attorney would be fun to see in MvC. Also Simon Blackquill.
I just hope everyone is able to understand that adding whole new characters won't be easy, even if they choose to do it. It's probably gonna be months by the time Max and Ryn finish what they're already working on, and probably at least a year before we actually get any new characters, if we even get any. I want to see the X-Men and more characters from MvC3 in the game as much as the rest of you, especially Wolverine and MvC2 Jill, but we need to remember to be patient.
One of my favorite things about UMvC3's mods was the addition of "Strider 2099". I think a character like that really pushes the idea of the crossover forward, and I think that's where a lot this game's identity could be found to distinguish itself from MvC3. Like, a Maverick Hunter alt for Monster Hunter, or Edward "Falcon", Red "Earth" Hulk. Just fun crossover ideas that push X-Gard and Valkanda even further.
I think adding Legacy Characters(essentially echo fighters) would be pretty cool. Adds characters that wouldn't need too much changed from characters they're based on, while still giving them some unique mechanics & supers. One I'd really like to see is Chuck Greene, with emphasis on combo weapons
SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy has Two players in the same team and it is crazy fun! That game is very underrated and misjudged. SNKH gameplay is a mix of Marvel VS. and Smash Bros. The only complain I have with the game is the roster. So many few characters. I wish SNK makes a sequel of SNK Heroines, with more stages, characters and outfits.
Honestly I hope once the new slots will be possible, the X-Men won't reuse their 90s designs cuz it'd be so out of place next to everyone. For example I'd LOVE Cyclops to rock the magenta Alex Ross look from the books Also giving all characters 1 more alt in the future would also be neat (Chris gets his RE6 look, Spidey gets Ben's Sensational suit, Ghost Rider gets a different incarnation, etc.)
Something I didn't realize sooner that was fucking up my execution was having negative edge while also being able to cancel normals on whiff, so sometimes I would input the special too soon and it would come out on the wrong button.
One thing I really think would improve the style of the game is better differentiation between the 'male' model frames. I can accept Cap having giant shoulder nodules, and I can reasonably accept, for example, Chris Redfield or Spencer having a model somewhat close to that. But Frank West should not be the same size as Cap, and Spidey should not be the same size as Cap. Spidey is strong, but he's not a bodybuilder. And Frank West has covered wars, ya know, but he didn't go to the STARS Proving Ground or anything nuts like that.
Mega Man X's moveset needs changing. I made an entire document detailing the changes back then. It included, (1) Mobile charge (2) More special moves (3) Charged Specials for complete alt versions during Armor mode (4) Nova Strike Lvl 3 is full screen dash to connect into the animation. (5) Others but the first 4 take priority. I am willing to discuss both that plus share that document I had.
Honestly I think a lot of people are asking for too much from this mod in the comments especially with the focus on gameplay changes seen in this vid. There are some genuine suggestions but I think focusing on game feel comes first then little things like animation tweaks etc. Obviously I think that balance should be left as is even despite its issues as that's tradition within mods for games. UMVC3 or Melee are two prime candidates for rebalance but generally that is frowned upon since the changes are a very personal opinion thing and can lead to unforeseen consequences (good examples would be SF2 HD Remix and that one romhack for 3S) One thing I think the mod should have by default though is include the voice modulator as it should be for Venom.
You pretty much touched on my main gripes with the game. Proximity blocking, inputs during super freeze, and reworking mobility/tags. The only thing I would add is reworking chip damage as well!
-Air normals never cause proximity guard -Pushblock adjusts with moves hitstop and protects you from high/lows better -Pushblocking projectiles moves the opponent back unless they switch -proximity guard on the ground for up close ranges, makes it so upbacking is punished by lows - back dashing doesn't block highs unless you up back -remove buffer on tech state those would be my biggest changes, game has so much potential to be sick
One thing that bugged me always: The VFX. It's not enough oomph. It may be other factors too, but it always felt like it went through like a hot knife through butter instead of having any weight.
I'm making a fighting game rpg. I'm using your videos as data. Your videos about what u like and don't like about fighting games the data is being used to try to make a good versus mode so thanks for making these alot of useful information for developers
For someone who likes Fighting games, I'm surprised you haven't checked out Marvel Contest of Champions, it's a mobile game but way worth checking out. I've played it for 9 years.
Blue-sky concept: turn the stones into system-changing meters. Imagine if there was one item that gave you something like X-factor, one that gave you an SF4 Focus Attack, one that straight up gives you the Royal Guard style from DMC, and so on.
I think the stages need more life and activity in the background. A better soundtrack would help, too. MvC2 feels very lively and I crave that feeling again.
The Marvel vs. Capcom Infinity released in Japan was only available in English dubbed version, and none of the characters spoke Japanese. Of course, sales in Japan were poor. (日本で発売されたMARVELvsCAPCOM Infinityは全編英語吹き替え版でどのキャラクターも日本語を喋る事はありませんでした。勿論、日本では全く売れませんでした。)
Did not know that, but I am not surprised. Capcom seem like they didn't want to spend any money on the game, so they probably thought "Everyone knows Marvel are western comics, they don't need Japanese dubs", even though I think the movies do have japanese dub-voices? Though those probably would have cost a lot more than Capcom wanted to spend on this game...
@@goranisacson2502Historically the Versus games have had Marvel characters voiced in English only. Having the Capcom characters also be English only is a weird choice, though, especially since all of Capcom's other modern fighting games have dual audio.
Is it possible to mod the game to skip the victory scene and what not like Umvc3? Might be small but was real irritating to not immediately be able to get to the next match.quick to me
I think they could have had some sort of cooldown on how much youncould proceed when being push blocked. Like if youre being pushed back during your a lock down super attempt you should not be able to keep advancing.
After seeing your Collab with Modding MvCI for awhile I might considering of changing my Perspective of this game. It’s kinda great that everybody is giving this Game a Second Chance despite it’s Flaws. Although it’s still only a PC Mod and DOESN’T Fix the Cringy Story of this Game!
Personal list of small changes: hit sound effects should be weightier and more impactful, slightly more hit stop, reduce/remove glow from hit sparks to match the comic esthetic, shorten the length of slow-mo in death animations.
One of the things the visuals of the super specials if are compared to the ones of MvC3 they were worsened. Example the one from Ghost Rider penance stare and Mike Haggard also the one from Sigma just don't feel like nothing stetic from Megaman X.
Any game with regular / prolific touch of death combos need a burst. It should be its own meter or use all four special bars, so it's not spammed like TvC's burst
I know this is like waaaaaaaayyyyy down the line, but will you give any focus to the Story Mode or just keep it the same? I know the Story Mode is just blah and not worth considering, but if the art style is going to be this way for regular matches, maybe before each match in the Story Mode, you can do like a comic book "page flip / wipe" and layer on the new visuals before the match begins...and then once it ends, you can "flip the page" back and go back the regular visuals for story cutscenes and such. Unless you were going to redesign the entire mode.

PXZ did X's arsenal fine, I dont know why they fell short here.
I agree, deadass
bro also deserves a better voice than Dan fuckin' Hibiki.
Remember Bakugan?
Remember Masquerade?
His VA would make a killer X
@@dcb99filmzwait... did you...? Did you just disrespect Dan the man?
I like Dan but he does not match X's voice at all. It's almost as bad as X4 X and it's such a downgrade from Mark Gatha. I get Gatha is retired but Capcom couldn't find anyone with a remotely deep voice for X? Seriously?
@@davidle347 I would've gone with Lowenthal or Diskin instead but they cast Diskin as Nova and therefore according to that stupid rule that says Marvel and Capcom characters can't share voices, he can't be X. (it's why Ash Burch is Chunners and why Brian Bloom reprised Cap instead of RCS)
My ideal VA for X that isn't Dr. Gatha would be Lyon Smith but if they can't have his co-worker Alyson Court playing Claire anymore, then there's no chance he'll be playing X ever.
5:48 THANK YOU
I was super worried that they'd listen to people replying with "oh add assists and 3v3"
Like at that point, just play marvel 3?
Mvci being 2v2 is one of the things I like about it, with active tag, and no assists because I never really liked the assists of 3v3 mvc
Tho I did love the assists in mvc1 as those were unique characters
Am I the only one that hated X factor in MVc3 which is my only issue with that game....
@@hta3ci Everyone hates X-Factor. It's the patriarch of the "shitty comeback mechanic" dynasty.
Not to mention, a lot of games use that template
I struggled to like the assists as well to the point I didn't use them a lot, though I still love the game
@@hta3ciI don't usually hear this take, why do you hate the x factor (genuine question)
I don't know how I feel about adding plinkdashing. I feel like that just adds a lot of excessive inputs, and takes away accessibility.
In a perfect world, where we have MvC 4 where it has
The X-Men
3V3 battles or mode
A huge roster
A good art style
Screen shake
Characters with correct proportions
A good story mode where it makes sense
Beautiful UI like persona 5, or SSBU for example
And costume alt’s magneto has a curly mustache
Gotta change the marvel characters themes and make cap look cool
Without turning it into MVC3, here's some ideas for simple presentation things that bugged me:
1) Fix the audio, camera blocking, and pacing for some cinematic supers. There were some supers where you dont know what is going on and the character would take forever to build up and perform the action. And they fill that time with weird dialogue sometimes. Also, fix Venom's voice lol
2) While we are in the topic of Supers, add more team unique team supers like the Bucky and Cap Unyielding Justice Super.
I wish max would just make / spearhead his own fighter from the ground up entirely.. would just love to see what that would turn out to be.
Especially since MvC3 is already having its own modding boom
Give every character special level 3 team attacks like Cap and Bucky
Yeah. I can see Chris and Black Widow doing a Bullet Ballet/Dance, Frank and Rocket making crazy ass weapons, Hawkeye and MH making a even bigger arrow storm and of course X and Zero something similar to they supers from PXZ2
@@gamemax1049 yes also Ryu and Chunli, Strider and Gamora, Morrigan and Ghost Rider for eg
@@gamemax1049 People remember X Zone 2?
I dug out my 3DS last week to replay some old stuff, and that was one of them.
Wild to see it mentioned.
I am happy seeing these updates on the process of the games "BEYOND" update
Honestly, focusing on a smaller cast than even MVCI, and just making them as solid and fun as possible. I feel like there's a ton of characters that have passed from 3 to UMVC3 to MVCI with very little change, and they're just kinda *there*
2 on 2 (4 players)
Infinity Gems vs Power Stones
Jedah animations have actual blood
Add X-Men and Darkstalkers
That first one requires so much work to the point where they would just be building the game from scratch. Your better off either passing around the controller or playing 2xko when that comes out bro
Phoenix Wright in the game.
Please. It’s all I ask 😭
Phoenix Wright is slightly underrated, except when finding the clues goes bad.
YEASSSSSS
Or even Apollo Justice ngl
@@Starcutter Apollo would work well given Trucy backing him up with her magic and Mr. Hat.
Max is gonna turn this game into the next Project M
For example I'd LOVE Cyclops to rock the magenta Alex Ross look from the books
Also giving all characters 1 more alt in the future would also be neat (Chris gets his RE6 look, Spidey gets Ben's Sensational suit, Ghost Rider gets a different incarnation, etc.)
Something I didn't realize sooner that was fucking up my execution was having negative edge while also being able to cancel normals on whiff, so sometimes I would input the special too soon and it would come out on the wrong button.
Very excited to see where this project goes.
If you’re worried about the background losing definition, you can probably use Kirby dots in the back to make it look more comic book style too
Great!
The music. The sound effects
Max's "Let's get this done" brain is such a amazing thing to watch in action.
UMVC3 or Melee are two prime candidates for rebalance but generally that is frowned upon since the changes are a very personal opinion thing and can lead to unforeseen consequences (good examples would be SF2 HD Remix and that one romhack for 3S)
One thing I think the mod should have by default though is include the voice modulator as it should be for Venom.
You pretty much touched on my main gripes with the game. Proximity blocking, inputs during super freeze, and reworking mobility/tags.
The only thing I would add is reworking chip damage as well!
-Air normals never cause proximity guard
-Pushblock adjusts with moves hitstop and protects you from high/lows better
-Pushblocking projectiles moves the opponent back unless they switch
-proximity guard on the ground for up close ranges, makes it so upbacking is punished by lows
- back dashing doesn't block highs unless you up back
-remove buffer on tech state
those would be my biggest changes, game has so much potential to be sick
Giant Characters like in Tatsunoko vs Capcom
Apocalypse and Devilot/Super-8 for our (first) giant characters.
One thing that bugged me always: The VFX. It's not enough oomph. It may be other factors too, but it always felt like it went through like a hot knife through butter instead of having any weight.
Vergil and Wesker (and mutants, obviously)
Hell yeah Max !
Getting me hyped for MvC:I, a game i more or less scrapped week 1.
LEZZ GOOOOO
Tibazz
Magneto needs a unique line against X-Men characters where he calls them "X-Chicken"
I'm making a fighting game rpg. I'm using your videos as data. Your videos about what u like and don't like about fighting games the data is being used to try to make a good versus mode so thanks for making these alot of useful information for developers
Really hope this can happen
Besides the X-Men being added to it and balance changes, I would like to see character endings for each character for Arcade Mode.
Carnage, Wolverine, magneto, and some Darkstalkers characters needs to be in there
🔥🔥🔥
For someone who likes Fighting games, I'm surprised you haven't checked out Marvel Contest of Champions, it's a mobile game but way worth checking out. I've played it for 9 years.
First few seconds and we on the same fuckin page. I love it lol.
damn those beeps!
Blue-sky concept: turn the stones into system-changing meters. Imagine if there was one item that gave you something like X-factor, one that gave you an SF4 Focus Attack, one that straight up gives you the Royal Guard style from DMC, and so on.
I hope you can add Strider (2009) costume with a better model
If MvCi had X-men in it, a lot more people would have given it a chance. I didn't love the roster myself, but the game was fun to play.
Hopefully you gain with the new artstyle but can keep some more of the fidelity tbh. And yeah new fighters and maybe stages lol..
MUSIC AND SFX! Please the music and SFX!
Needs those mvc1 vibes
I think the stages need more life and activity in the background. A better soundtrack would help, too. MvC2 feels very lively and I crave that feeling again.
Endings for each character would be nice. Even if it's a wall of text.
what if tag took elements from Battle for the grid?
The snappiness and such felt really good to control and read.
Max put on the X-Men shirt for this
Animate the camera during Ghost Rider's level 3, just like how it was in UMvC3.
Max is practically making the next MVC
This is a dangerous question to ask.
I wish that when stones are activated the whole screen doesn't become a color storm
Is it possible to mod the game to skip the victory scene and what not like Umvc3? Might be small but was real irritating to not immediately be able to get to the next match.quick to me
Dude is a game designer now😂😂
I think they could have had some sort of cooldown on how much youncould proceed when being push blocked. Like if youre being pushed back during your a lock down super attempt you should not be able to keep advancing.
God i have never done any modded games before but this is going to make me. Loved the game and sad they gave up. Max the hero we need
Max stays doing the most for the FGC. This is awesome stuff!
Yes 0:11
What if you overhaul the stones, or add more?
After seeing your Collab with Modding MvCI for awhile I might considering of changing my Perspective of this game.
It’s kinda great that everybody is giving this Game a Second Chance despite it’s Flaws. Although it’s still only a PC Mod and DOESN’T Fix the Cringy Story of this Game!
Personal list of small changes: hit sound effects should be weightier and more impactful, slightly more hit stop, reduce/remove glow from hit sparks to match the comic esthetic, shorten the length of slow-mo in death animations.
What’s that frenzy mode from SF X Tekkken? When all fighters are out at once
One of the things the visuals of the super specials if are compared to the ones of MvC3 they were worsened.
Example the one from Ghost Rider penance stare and Mike Haggard also the one from Sigma just don't feel like nothing stetic from Megaman X.
I love seeing Max using his fighting game knowledge to slowly finding himself in some sort of game director position in a game project.
ok max un convinced me to play marvel vs capcom infinte
X-Men we all know that animation kinda felt on some supers I think
I may need to give the game a try on Steam. I played the demo on Xbox and had a decent time. Id probably wait for a sale tho.
Max might just do to MvC:I what Laithe kinda just did to Imperator Rime only he’s also making the crazy mod and I’m all for it.
Seriously, just make it look SICK and that’s a very strong start.
KENNNN
Wait why would you want screen shake?
Max starts off the video with the one thing I'm baffled wasn't in the release of the game. I would love to revisit this game with 2 vs 2.
I got this game recently and the tag combo system is actually cool and fun. Too bad it didn't get its due at the time but maybe max will fix that
