I found this deck for under $10 today at a resale shop & was greatly intrigued. I am quite proud of my little find but was curious as the deck was missing the pamphlet. Your video was very insightful for me. Thank you!

I would attribute the nightmares to your conflicts with your daughter. I'm a Jungian Analyst and very much doubt they were the carriers of bad energy. Rather your re purchase of the deck stirred up old memories that were stirred up in your unconscious. Just something to consider. Really appreciate your candid story about your relationship to this tarot deck. I find the symbols on these cards to be interesting additions to the main imagery. Especially the Moon card which in the hardcover book of this deck says that the bottom half of the card is an enlargement of the building arch under the woman and suggest primitive energies creeping into an otherwise romantic scene. thanks for this video, i actually found it quite useful as im a complete beginner and this was also the first deck of cards i ever bought(also at 18 haha). i was just drawn to this one, but since it's not the most conventional deck i soon found myself super confused and a little reluctant to use it, which isnt the case anymore, your video helped me familiarise myself with the deck and i feel much more confident in trying with it now:)
I am so happy I bought this book in Geneva in the late 80%’s . I lost the box but the cards are intact and I do have the book of interpretation that goes with it.
How funny that you were attracted to the cards the same time that I was! But the deck I saw was in a movie named GAMES with Simone Signoret. I learned how to read with the Spanish Naipes from Fournier Co with my grandmother. Suggestion: any deck, especially if used? I learned smudging from my friend Katie who is Native American. I smudge first with sage and then blow cigar smoke over the deck in honour of my Taino ancestors and then place the deck spread out on my altar with a votive candle asking the energies of good to give them light. A friend of mine simply mists her hands with a scent or perfume that inspires her and shuffles the deck as she prays over them. My first 1JJ deck was screwed because an espiritista told me to sit the deck in a bag of used coffee grounds I’d collected from my mother who used to boil Bustelo coffee. When I went back to her to complain that the deck was ruined she thought that she’d told me to only let them gather strength over night. I complained about it to my mum and she gave me the money to go back to an occult bookstore in the East Village named Samuel Weiser and I not only still have that deck but I also made a stained glass box for it on a visit to my family in Massachusetts a year later. I inherited this deck from my grandmother after she died many years ago. I forgot I had them, and I discovered them when packing up to move and was so excited, considering I started reading over a year ago. I remember seeing her with them when I was very young, and had no idea what they were lol. I love this deck. The old world feel is charming. Its unusual considering strength and justice are misplaced numerically, as well as the swords and pentacles use the proper Roman numeral of IX, but the cups, wands, and trumps use VIIII as #9. Such an odd deck, but I love it.
G S How neat! That’s great that you have her deck passed down to you. I think only Rider-Waite decks have strength at 8 and Justice at 11. Decks prior to Rider-Waite and modern Thoth decks reverse that.

I'm not a huge Aleister Crowly fan lol. I don't really wanna touch his deck. It's all intriguing nonetheless. Your 1JJ deck is a little more pristine. Mine is a little more worn, but still beautiful. It adds to its charm. It makes me feel closer to her. Idk if she bought the deck or if they were given to her. Me and her were the weird ones in the family, meaning loved astrology, and the occult. I love that I inherited that part of her. Had it not been for her, I doubt I would've researched and had faith in astrology as I do, and continuing on my spiritual journey. I wish she was here to see how far I've come. She'd be so proud and happy.

Seeing I was about to look into buying tarot cards anyway I said yes, but I'm very new at using tarot cards so this was a big help
I like your commentary about the 1JJ Swiss deck. I just ordered the version of this deck designed by Vincent Pitisci, which is faithful to the original but uses a wider color palette rather than just the basic primary colors, and also has an optional High Priestess and Hierophant for those who want to swap those out with the Juno and Jupiter ("JJ cards"). I like your review of this original version though, and the simple white booklet that came with it. By the way, sorry to hear about what happened to your mother's old 1JJ Swiss, but at least you found a good vintage replacement.

My very first deck also (other types were pretty uncommon back then to run across). I was 11 years old in 1970. I'm 64 now. Don't have my original deck anymore but found a brand new 1974 (flip top edition) still wrapped in cellophane a few years ago on eBay for just ten bucks.
I love that they are called "suggested interpretations" instead of "card meanings." Frankly, when it comes to "card meanings" I'm over it, as they say. I don't think card meanings is the right kind of mindset at all. Interpretation is a much better description. We should be interpreting the cards, not stating a set meaning. (Jmo)
They do look new. I would have done the same (the none cleansing part, I don't sleep with my cards. They way I sleep, the cards would be creased and tossed around LOL)

Ive just bought this for my mother as a surprise as her first pack disappeared from her house many years ago..but the new pack there instructions are in French which she cant read so i feel disappointed for her, as she is still a beginner..I have no idea where I can get the English instructions :(
Try searching the guidebook online, but pretty much any deck will have the same interpretation. The same meanings, just different words to describe them. With tarot you can learn the meanings, but it's mostly read intuitively, so she can make her own interpretations.
