Fantastic video, John! I'm glad I caught this! What an amazing concept! It's also insanely counterintuitive on every level that anyone would even think of loading a watch up with ink and having it deposit it on itself! I absolutely love it!
there are lots of cheap inking chronographs from other brands, and I have owned more than once. However, this is the first time that I saw its demo with ink added (later it has to be wiped)! Salute to you for the effort and fun shared! Best, Alex
Very interesting, another piece of important timing history learned from your channel! Well done and appreciated. It's truly a museum piece or a neet conversation piece for an advanced collector. An exploded view of the mechanism on the inking function would be amazing to see.
Interesting question - I believe Breguet hands were much earlier than this particular inking chrono but it is a theory worth exploring historically in the late 18th century and early 19th century.
I'm not sure I'd have the fortitude to do that with such an expensive watch 😂 Still, very cool complication. I can imagine a gentleman after several mint juleps out in the bright hot sun at a racetrack trying to refill that reservoir before the starting gates open. Its definitely a watch for my town, Louisville.
Fascinating that such a thing was even made. I have to say, though, I would find it pretty hard not to file this idea in the Nutty Professor section - along with gunpowder cigars, backwards-firing shotguns, and the like...
Great video. It works …. Sort off. The racehorse owner who owned this would indeed be the king of his friends. Completely useless - but in the land of the blind the one eyed man is king !
How lucky you are to get to play with such instruments! Thank you for showing this art of yesteryears...!
Best part of the job!
One of the most outstanding UA-cam channels. Just fantastic.
Collectability Blue Ink! This couldn't get any better 🙂
Glad you appreciate this Carlos! Hope all is well.

Fantastic knowledge sharing session! Thank you, John 🤝

Thank you for your kind comment. You are right that an exploded view of the inking function mechanism would be very interesting.
Interesting concept, thank you for sharing!
Thank you for your kind comment.
Was this inking function the birthplace of the Breguet hands?

Thank you for your kind observations. It would be indeed be a challenge to try and fill the ink bowl after a couple of mint juleps!

Best comment ever - thanks Jay! 😀
super cool!
Make sure you don't have your morning coffee before the horse race.
Thank you for your comment -- good point!
great fun
What's this background?
My Patek Philippe electronic clock collection... I have a few. 😀
O John, it would have been so good to see the dot as expected.
I am having this chrono serviced as I write this message so there is hope!!
We’ve come a long way to now where we have E-INK in mainstream electronics
Thank you for your comment!
I didn't have a inkling about the Inking Chronograph 😉
Lol, thank you for watching!
