What's all the fuss about Dessay here? Who cares? O.o The moment Hallenberg opens her mouth, you get to hear what real art and style and class is. She blows 'em all away. :)
to be fair, the control on that entry phrase is not to be sneezed at. I say that as someone who can't cope with Dessay's overly bright top notes. Of course Hallenberg towers - she's a living legend!
I got the impression that Bach could write music with a frying pan smaching squeekey toys back to people who chucked them at him. This came to me while listening to "the Bach Album" which was from the mid 1990s. Handel seems more interesting to listen to a lot of the time , but as far as just a stoned natural musician Bach had Handel beat. I don't know anything about music.I own more Handel music, but it seems Bach may be one chair closer to God.
Thank you very much, BaroqueFever. Please upload Scarlatti and don´t forget the two other pieces of this oratorium, especially the aria with Natalie Dessay : "Tu del Ciel Ministro Eletto" . I´m now shure, that you have seen it. Please, please....
yes but if u r singer u should know that low notes r easier to handle and project that high notes,u need less air, less effort and u know perfectly in which part of the face u r going to resonate that note, but when high notes u need more air, more effort and u resonate the note with the top of your head in a resonator that u can't see, and the most of the people don't even know where it is(it's all about imaginary images of where r u taking your sound)
You hate her, I love her. I have a goodly number of her CDs and it is truly interesting some of the stuff she has recorded with Natalie Dessay. She is a very respected conductor generally.
I play violin and also the viola. I believe baroque music is the real essence of all music. In baroque music i find all sorts of emotions .. gracefullness, happiness, peacefulness, anger etc etc. Thankyou for sharing this music i wish i could get in contact with you to share this passion. Regards Lawrence, Malta , Europe
Wonderful performance and voices, I often remember this melody in my mind. I love the way they sing: I mean, their energy, happiness and strenght of the pure baroque music. I can feel joy of life, enthusiasm and happiness as a result of the deep friendship among them. I also love the way they made the video, especially the ending sequence with closing theme joined to the slow running. Amazing effect. One of my best favourite videos as ever.
Extraordinaire !
i agree with you hehehe... but...couldn't they be doind a metaphor of what they represetent? Since dessay is belezza (beauty, am I right?) she is inconstant and always running from us humans but very present in some moments when it does blow us away...and other analysis to the other actors/singers... and I completely wrong?
Paris is a hotbed of variations on the theme of music. Dessay, who is my favorite singer ever, not mostly for her voice, but for her technique, interpretation, acting ability and personality. She is a close friend of Haim, who also lives in Paris, and who is one of my favorite directors. I also have listened to this clip many times. This is a four way argument. Pleasure and Beauty versus Time and whatever Prina sings. It's something like Disapproval.
In English and French speaking countries people often just say Bravo when someone has done a good job. But many times in opera houses people will use the other forms; brava, bravi, and brave, depending to whom they are yelling it.
I also love the way this piece is performed by this group. There is so much excitment and energy in it that I had to buy the CD. It is available on the Virgin Classics label. I don't think that this is from a DVD. I heard that a friend of Natalie Dessay made these videos, probably to promote the CD.
You are right. This series is an edited collection of shots by whoever filmed it for Virgin Records. There are lots of Dessay practice, recording and messing around videos put out by the company. All of them have more than a bit of informality. As for BEING diva, Dessay is always polite, respectful, kind, easy to work with, etc. .. except when she's horsing around with a friend. Click on Dessay Delerio for an example of that with Haim. It's Handel and not harmful.
I seem to hear a "clavecin" in this piece of music, and obviously Haïm is not playing, where can I find a complete list of credit of the musicians in this most enjoyable piece?
It, like most or all of Natalie's videos, had an "in production" video made by EMI/Virgin. Over the years there must have been at least 500 videos about Natalie. She is such a trip. It may be a friend, but it was done for Virgin.
I've watched this clip many, many times and it's still delightful. The interaction between these four young singers is so infectious, but the amazing thing for me is the music of the then still young Handel. Makes me want to hear more of it. I also own the two CD set of this oratorio.
i don't want to be mean i think that too maybe they r jealous of her...i mean they r good singers but Natalie Dessay is the "star" the prima donna of this production

LOS CUATRO FANTASTICOS!!!!!!!
Que afiatamiento, realmente hermoso este cuarteto. Heandel realmente celestial!!!!

Bach is a religious master, while Handel can not be rivaled in the secular.
Dessay 🤮🤮........Hallenberg 😍 is the best.

Oh yes! Is fantastic: Handel, Dessay and Haim, all together. Thank you very much.
I still love this! It could very well be play-back, but I don't care! :-)
Ah... I wish Natalie Dessay would work on more Handel... her recordings with Haim are just exquisite.

wow, it looks like they're all really having fun with this

i think i would marry Prina if i had the chance..:)
but i had to admit she was really weak on this performance
i agree with you hehehe...

I didnt know this quartet, it is absolutelly beautiful, amazing , solos by Dessay are excellent
Is it just me, is the tenor really hot...for a tenor, of course.

I worship this clip. The joy, it's pure baroque'n'roll!
2:52 and 3:51
AMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZINGGGGGGGGG
Superb ! Dynamite combination of Hallenberg & Dessay ! And of course all credit to the other 2 singers -marvellous performance.
In English and French speaking countries people often just say Bravo when someone has done a good job. But many times in opera houses people will use the other forms; brava, bravi, and brave, depending to whom they are yelling it.
it´s a fake run , she is a "diva"
This is true, I believe. My low D two octaves below middle C is a lot quieter than my D above middle C.
Cielo, in qual estasi rapirmi sento...
no i do not think so, i know very well Sonia , and she never told me this kind of feeling, she is vey respectfull about her fame and charisma!!!
I also love the way this piece is performed by this group. There is so much excitment and energy in it that I had to buy the CD. It is available on the Virgin Classics label.

bravissimo.¨!!!!!!!

Vorrei tanto sapere perchè non è piaciuto a quei sette...Questa è musica sublime cantata a livelli stratosferici!
I enjoy ALL of her performances. It doesn't seem like she is much appreciated though. What a great pity.
ooooooooo you are the BEST thanks so much for all these wonderful clips love to you
so fponelli r u even a singer?what tessitura do u have?
amazing!!!!!!great video..i love Dessay!!!is a best opera singer!!!! i love her!!!!
I do like Hallenberg, but LOVE Dessay. I would not like to insult any singers.... you must like to do that. People are all different.
I seem to hear a "clavecin" in this piece of music, and obviously Haïm is not playing, where can I find a complete list of credit of the musicians in this most enjoyable piece?
Prina=prima:)
Sonia Prina, too.
As ever.
It, like most or all of Natalie's videos, had an "in production" video made by EMI/Virgin. Over the years there must have been at least 500 videos about Natalie. She is such a trip. It may be a friend, but it was done for Virgin.
Oh, and (Miss Lear) Emmanuelle choses and directs the singers and orchestra.... and formed the orchestra originally.
they're having such fun.....what more music should be!
love Dessai before and when she hits that v. high ????, watch her arms!
You're right, lessandri. But Prina's part is a pain in the ass complainer and she's (as usual for her) happy as a lark.
splendeed
maybe she had to go to the bathroom
you know , when you have to go ..you have to go
It's simple: "bravo" is referred to male people and "brava" is for female ones. ;-)
I've watched this clip many, many times and it's still delightful. The interaction between these four young singers is so infectious, but the amazing thing for me is the music of the then still young Handel. Makes me want to hear more of it. I also own the two CD set of this oratorio.
I can definitely see Roberta Invernizzi doing this with that radiance of hers.
the best quartet ever
Thank you: I love this recording and thought I'd never see it again after it seemed to disappear, though others from the same session didn't.
whattttt?
HATE THAT CONDUCTOR.
But the singers and the orchestra are great:)
Strong, powerful and with emotion. Good stuff. Thanks
@horseyak
doubt it
it just the diva playing God once again
Absolutely and amazing video - look how much fun they're having!
bravi tutti! Forza Sonia! bravaaaaaaaaaaa
I freaking love this video...3:20-on is ridiculous

Thats fine, it´s so nice!
...Interesting...?!
❤❤❤❤❤
Una maravilla.
My uncle just showed me this, it is amazing!!!

There's a CD.
WOW!
i don't want to be mean i think that too
maybe they r jealous of her...i mean they r good singers
but Natalie Dessay is the "star" the prima donna of this production
Celestial music... thanks Herr Haendel and the four wonderful singers
Fantastic singing, fantastic conducting. Brava, Emmanuelle Haim!
