Wow, pretty good, sounds really like Satriani !! But when I open my eyes I see somebody else !!! Nice sound, nice skills (part 2:00 to 2:11 is pretty difficult but you pass through with ease !) Keep on playing !!
Seriously well done, you technique has really ramped up. Not sure if you've hit the practicing but this has the best covers I've seen. Is this totally live with no overdubs? Just a backing track? And you?
Thanks man!! That means a lot!! It's my all time favorite song to play. I play this one more than any other. There's no overdubs, I've never tried dubbing before, I wouldn't know where to start really.
Brilliant Ryan, I used to play this in a band years ago and hearing you play it has made me want to re-learn it, although you hands down play it better than I ever did. JS2480 on order 😊
Will you join my band? I mean, I don’t have a band, but if you’d join, I’d start one. I can make all kinds of noise on a drum kit. That’s the best cover over heard besides Joe himself. That might even be better than one or two of Joe’s live performances. Incredible talent.
Exceptional performance. Can you review your gear and settings..that would be great. Your sound is spot on. The delay and distortion is perfect. Please share. Thank you..
Amazing cover! That was by far the best I have ever seen someone play that song! I have a js1200 amazing guitars, shame I can’t play it half as good as you😂
Now you've got a new subscriber, man! You really nailed the exact tone and timing! Thanks to this video I hope someday I can learn to play this masterpiece.
Nailed it! Great feel and phrasing, sounds like you wrote it! Many covers are rather academic but it's easy to tell you love playing and are really feeling it as you play!
The feeling after watching this guy playing very well in JS240 let me happy and said at the same time Happy because he proves it s possible anyone sounds like Satriani all you need is practice and so much dedication and sad because in my country would need at least 15 years by saving part of salary to buy this guitar like that due to the corruption matters while the same value is spent in 1 hour by a expensive long neck wine bottle by ours politics with by using our public money... Enjoy your life and keep making us happy with your videos
im blown away again! you rock at Satch songs! im currently learning a few my self, I've been playing for 4 and a bit years, they are rock solid! the easiest I say is ten words. I cant list all the hard ones, they all are!!!
Thanks man!! I've been playing for about 13 years now. The first Satch song I learnt was love thing, I found that one the easiest. You should check out my revelation cover. I got a comment from Satriani himself on that video
@@ryansmith3747 Getting a compliment from Joe himself has to be the ultimate thrill! I'd be walking on clouds for a month. I'm saddened to read about your hearing loss and hope you have found something that you can be as passionate about as much as you were music. RESPECT, best wishes and God bless you my friend!
What I really like about this, is that there is a great deal of this great guitar player (Ryan) outside the cover,.. Interpreted really well, not a out right shadow..I've heard this 1,000 times, .. Really great voice here on the 'song' .. :-)
Tout y est le son le style avec un peut de votre personnalité une très belle reprise et ce son excellent ont sent bien que la JS fait sont taf entre de bonnes mains
I wish I had really rich parents haha. They're all pre owned from ebay. Couldn't afford them at full retail price. Thanks Jerry, really appreciate it!! ☺
I prefer the 1200 for sound. The neck pickup just has that instant Satriani tone which the Satch Track doesn't. Also harmonics just jump out of the FRED pickup. I find the Mo Joe a bit bland. Its a lot better for chunky rhythm playing though compared to the FRED. Most songs I play need 24 frets now so that's why I use the 2450 otherwise I'd still be playing the 1200
ok thanks ! you need 24 frets? in general we only need for the D at 22th fret to make a bend to go to a E. Then, with a E and a bend it will give a Fa# and it's not popular for the songs in my opinion. Second, cool if you prefer the js 1200 i believe what ou say cos the paf joe is a special pickup : for me it has a lot of trebles and it was made to sound "tubular" like they said. it sound strat. My guitar has a special switch i don't know if it's parallel or other but the neck pickup has not the thing to keep the trebles at low volume; the high pass filter was changed to parallel mode : it gives a fatter and warmer sound when the paf joe could only stay in strat's tones .My fred is not here anymore. The sound was not fat (and in all of his guitars) but i wanted more output so, the perfect mix was to add a Norton dimarzio pickup and not a Tone Zone which has a lot of critics and not Satch's tone. And the Satch track is made with ceramic : not good for warm tones (blues for example) but i suppose there is no pb with Satriani and his gear. For me alder body = strat basswood = less strat, less expensive but what i think now is the js 2450 would sound a bit bland, it won't be the next level :( the js 2480 with a basswood body was very strange : why a basswood body for the price ? and the new chrome has a crazy price for everybody so, maybe next time a LUKE lol (ceramic too :() or the new ibanez AZ2204 check it out !
That was fng fantastic...nailed it,,,great tone great sound. Wow...looks like a fun song to dig into. Satch be proud !! Love that wah pedal !! How nice are those Ibanez guitars to play ?? Good stuff... 💘 🎸🎧🎼🎶🎵
What I love about this song is that if you're good enough, you can add so many nuances, fills, and tremolos along the way to creating 'the best version on the net.'
Now that's impressive , I tip my hat to you sir . You've got great talent . I only wish I could play as well as you . Thank you for showing us your skills .
Amazing again, all you videos are great, love your cover of revelation too, satriani will be proud as am I, even a comment on revelation from the man himself, great work Ryan, keep his covers coming, you never know, you may get too have a jam with him 🎶🎶🎶 thanx again
+Ryan Smith excellent work! enjoyed all your covers. On a guitar related note, as you own both the JS2410 MCO and JS24PCA do you feel the 2410 warrants the additional 600-700 £ ? Or is the 24PCA more than good enough for 99% of people? Keep up the great work in the name of Grandmaster Satch! |m|
Thanks John!! Really appreciate it! I don't own the 24p I have the JS1200. They're both the same colour though so it's easy to mistake. I bought an ibanez premium years ago. I had to send it back because the frets were lifting off the board. Apparently it was a common problem, so it put me off buying another
Sounds great!!! You got those notes down! I have a couple questions that I hope you can answer...what wah pedal are you using? Is it the joe signature model? Do you like that wah? Also, when you play through an amp which one or two do like best to get close to this tone? Or do you use a clean amp and a specific distortion pedal through the clean amp, and if so, which ones? I am very impressed by your skill and tone. I am wanting to get more into learning Joe's style and tone. I don't think I will have enough for the 2410...if you have also played other JS models, what do think of the less expensive models such as the 24p or the 1000? Thanks for everything!
Thanks man!! Really glad you're enjoying the video :) I'm using the vox big bad wah pedal. Its the Satriani signature model but it's discontinued now. They don't make them anymore. I think the Dunlop 535q would be the closest sound to this wah I'm using. I don't use an amp. I'm using a Boss GT-5 for everything (distortion and all effects) I just plug it into my pc and record direct. I don't have any experience with the JS24P but I do have the JS1200, which was my main guitar for years. Its a really great guitar, and a lot cheaper to get these days than the 2410. I only stopped using it because I need 24 frets now. If the 1200 had 24 frets It would still probably be my main guitar
I am still amazed at your playing. This is the third time I have watched you play it. I have played guitar since I was a kid, starting out with classical then Van Halen, then took about a ten year break from the straight rock n roll, and dove way into Kenny Wayne Shepherd rockin blues. It was fun but I miss VH, Satriani, etc., so I am looking to dive back into it, and your playing is really inspiring me!!! I am the person who posted the previous questions to you. But I just wanted to explain my background and say how inspirational your playing to me. Thanks in advance if you have a chance to answer my questions ;-)

Thanks Christopher. Really Appreciate that!!
As a matter of fact I think you're the best I have seen(other than Joe himself) anywhere. My highest accolades to you Ryan.
I'm not even sure if Joe is better than this.
Because he plays with a feeling...
That my friend was amazing👍 im a guitarist myself and i can only say bravo👍👍💐
Holy cow. Man you've really got those scrapes nailed. And that tone... Satch would be (is?) proud

I've watched this cover at least 3 times now. In some ways, better than the original.
Hey how could u say its better than the original hahaha... if its ur opinion then u dont know how to play guitar...

I really like your version, thanks to this video I've figured out the whammy harmonics.

Nice. 90% better than most of the other tries of this song. Joe is a virtuoso... something not easily copied.
Thanks man!! Yeah he's definitely hard to copy. That's why I put improvisations in there. You can never get it exactly like Joe.
Plus... I'm a hard critic being a guitar player also and a fan of and listening to every one of Joe's studio albums many, many times.
Great sound great playing, which auto wah pedal are you using?
wow! i just stumbled on your channel whilst watching another youtuber doing cover of satriani's songs. Awesomes man!
