he nailed the song even in this cluttered place with ppl nxt to him breathing down his neck!! true maestro!! this man truly enjoys playing rock n roll!!
This guy is not from planet earth. Right now I'm like "Duhhh" !!! (my jaw dropped completely down!!!)after seeing his performance, and what's most incredible that he's modest like hell. I'm not a guitarist and inspite of that my dream would be to meet him in person.
When did Jesus shave his head and take up electric guitar? But seriously, that was unbelievably great. Who else plays like that? No one. Closest I've heard is John Petrucci another great guitarist.
No, I was right, he is using a metal pick (for the first 30 seconds at least). Metal picks (chrome, copper, stainless steel) add a little bit more treble to the tone and gives it a scratching/scraping sound. Watch at 0:32. You'll see him switch his pick to a normal (I'm guessing plastic) pick.
I go round and round with commentors who don't understand TRUE Greatness.THIS man IS GREATNESS!Whata music catalog/career!These other YT newbies are NOT!To me;"Great"means Pioneer!NO ONE has taken the electric guitar to places Satch has.Berry,Hendrix,EVH!,Satch,Paul Gilbert,YJM are also greats. There's a reason they used Berry and EVH licks in the movie Back to the future!Because THESE players were GREAT!
@tarijafm It's hilarious how the chubby guy in the back tries to look professional at first taking photos-- then if you watch him closely towards the end he goes into a trance of amazment , looking at his face. He has this look , like holy shit this guy is phenominal. Joe is the fucking man.
i think play in a little studio with a board at 2 mm from your hands and a wha wha on the floor without a protection, it's hard for everyone! and that js it's used only for warm up,it's not a js standard so satch still a super musician and a super guitarist! ;)
@tarijafm Dude, when I saw your comment is at the same exact moment I thought the same thing. I swear, it was this God-like epiphany that came over me.
even if he misses and a little off and short some times, he always comes up with and idea to cover the mistakes and making it a style.. this man is just super amazing.. a true guitar super star or maybe perhaps a guitar GOD...
I'm amazed at how young he looks here. 2010, so he was 53 at the time. He could pass for his late 30s. Not anymore, though. The last 6 years have been rough, I guess.
I know he is not comfortable with that guitar tone and ofcourse thats not his actual guitar tone. So, he seems nervous and making a couple of slight mistakes....but still god is god🙂
Okay, I think you're right about that part. But he's definitely using a metal pick. Listen to 2:32. You can't get that tone from a normal plastic pick. I've played with metal picks before, and I know what they sound like.
for me, he's still the best guitarist ever..
And the winner is
Andrew William Gary Moore.
he nailed the song even in this cluttered place with ppl nxt to him breathing down his neck!! true maestro!! this man truly enjoys playing rock n roll!!
True masters can play anywhere.
Even after all these years, Joe still blows my mind.
And the winner is
Andrew William Gary Moore
U can actually heard the sound strings being pick.

Still, after almost 30 years, the best guitarist ever to live.
And the winner is
Andrew William Gary Moore.
Awesome. I just realize, its first time i watch this guy playing without sunglasses.
That,s cause he is an alien!
"Lord Voldemort" shows us his incredible skills.. Teacher for guitar gods!
Wow, never seen Joe play any guitar with a maple fretboard..All his Ibanez guitars always have a rosewood board.
Thank you to the uploader! My favourite Satriani song...and he makes it look so easy (sobs)...
The guy is just Fckin AMAZING!!!!!!!
Il existe beaucoup de bons guitaristes mais Joe Satriani allie compositions fabuleuses avec une technique extraordinaire et un feeling unique.
He makes it look effortless. Well, I guess it IS effortless for him.
He makes this so easy hm..
a few oopsies in there :D Every guitarist knows what thats like! You just go with it
Hahaha 1 dislike give me a fucking break!
They jealous!
Or one frustrated guitarist ? Satch is one of the best, certainly.
I can watch this over and over again
让人叹为观止 伟大的演奏 伟大的艺术家 他又如此的温暖 永远爱你 Joe !
if i was in that room i would be bowing and rooling at his feet
Joe Satriani head is big because is genius
And this is why he is...the one and only Satch!
Forget the"oopsies"or mistakes,Amazing performace!Like Hendrix once said;"If you wanna hear me perform the song perfectly, listen to the album(studio)!
When did Jesus shave his head and take up electric guitar? But seriously, that was unbelievably great. Who else plays like that? No one. Closest I've heard is John Petrucci another great guitarist.
Plenty of players play as great as Satriani. It's a matter of taste whose music you prefer, but there are countless exceptional guitar players.
I never thought of that. thanks.
Not even close to that amount of feeling...
I love the improv from 4:48 to the end - awesome!

One take and goodbye
Master class and a masterpiece combined into one vid!
And the winner is
Andrew William Gary Moore
yeah i agree, it definitely sounds like a metal pick. His probably using his signature series of chrome dome picks
I love joe and his style I do.....but this is a rip off of drive by gary hoey
No it's not and as Great as Gary Hoey is "Summer Song was out 1st!!
Damn it Joey...everytime!!
i hope that Ibanez will release this guitar! Joe is great!
They should have called that model the Ice 9....Love the maple fretboard....

Nice closing
at 0:32 his changing the settings on pedal or something.
Great incredible performance
This camera’s angle reveals a lot of his thumb approach, only few times behind as a pivot
Is that guitar an Ibanez JS with Srat like single coils? I'm so confused! Perhaps 3 humbuckers like single coils form by DiMarzio.
José Pérez it's a prototype. Essentially a humbucker in a single coil....he now uses them in the neck pickup position on his 24 fret guitars.
rlacombe Prototype from 2010? Humbuckers in single coils rails, Andy Timmons (AT10P) Paul Gilbert (FRM100) and Steve Vai have one.
Its a custom single coil JS, designed for the experience Hendrix Tour ...
How does he get that tone at that volume? Amazing.....
First time that I listen Joe doing mistakes..it remind that he's human and not an alien ;)
Joe rocks! I love the color and sound of that guitar.
1:38 ... nice try! xD
Francio gode mentre guarda questo video
5:04 OUpsss
Whata DEEP"Bag of tricks"this guy has!He can play(or have built)ANY custom guitar imaginable, and he chooses to play a simple one.LIVING LEGEND!
Different tuning on this song this time from Satch, am I right? Stillamazing!
E flat I think
creative? based or c!
His best sounding guitar.Small pickup ”windows”like a strat sounds way better then full sise humbuckers.
i can hear the 17th fret is very worn with time. it causes a screeching sound with the bend
Absolutely amazing :)
And the winner is
Andrew William Gary Moore

Excellent! I hate the popping sound every time he steps on one his stomp boxes. Other then that, great, great , great!
Fucking Astonishing
après le troisième pains ( 02:24 ) il se dit "bon allez fait péter le shred !!!"

i only disliked cos i'm so envious... if i could play a fifth of satch i'd be the second best guitarist on the plannet...!!!! :D
@christocaster Thanks ;)
but i found this info maybe right?
A personnal custom exclusively made for Joe for The Tribute to Jimi hendrix...
@rhythm78 jaja u right man,,, what kinda pics he gets, no angle , man move to the other side.
Even though there are a couple of "mistakes" I still think this is the best version, Joe rocks!
Shows his humanity, and being the literal embodiment of perfection, makes this better
does anyone know what's the box that the Time Machine is sitting on?
it's the one that Joe was tweeking the volume on.
Too bad the cameraman taking the video isn't in a better area to shoot.
NO KOMMENT!!!!!!!!!
👍🏻😊
even if he misses and a little off and short some times, he always comes up with and idea to cover the mistakes and making it a style.. this man is just super amazing.. a true guitar super star or maybe perhaps a guitar GOD...
capo
Love his new guitar, everyone tends to go closer to fenders as they age..
I'm amazed at how young he looks here. 2010, so he was 53 at the time. He could pass for his late 30s. Not anymore, though. The last 6 years have been rough, I guess.
He's 62 now and he basically looks the same, always have.
He always looks 20 years younger.
I know he is not comfortable with that guitar tone and ofcourse thats not his actual guitar tone. So, he seems nervous and making a couple of slight mistakes....but still god is god🙂
Saran Deula no he said in one vid that he actually really liked that guitar and it was a prototype for a single coil version of the js series
does Joe use the TECH 21 PSA1.1????
The camera man is busy in taking clips
Sounds like he's using a metal pick. I can hear it.

Amazing and genius
Okay, I think you're right about that part. But he's definitely using a metal pick. Listen to 2:32. You can't get that tone from a normal plastic pick. I've played with metal picks before, and I know what they sound like.
