Tbh it's a friggin' crime I don't hear more of the MC voice. Both male and female (I play in Chinese) sounds so pleasant to me -- they wasted these voice actors man. I play female mc and my gf plays male mc, and both of them I was like: sounds SO nice. Paimon's cute but I'd much rather listen to the MC.
yeah. Its kind of the rpg self insert thing where the writers don't know if they want the main character to be completely silent or give them a personality. Also if you want to hear the main character voice more just check their profile as they have conversation with paimon about thing which is kind of cool but it suck they only say like 5 words in every other chapter or so.
What I found out through all these comparison videos is that all the Chinese VAs are SERIOUSLY underrated despite being the original voices and, in my opinion, the best voices for each character. Oh yeah and also a lot of people assume this was a Japanese game lol
well both of their va did an incredible job at giving the mc their characters aether's voice seems like he's still grieving and sad whilst lumine voice seems like she already pass most of the grieving part, and much more determine to find out what happen to her brother
in Chinese voice,Paimon's voice actor is 多多poi, who also gives voice to the Honkai Impact character Rozaliya·Olenyeva. And heroine's actor is 宴宁,who gives voice to Liliya·Olenyeva, the sister of Rozalita.
Fun fact: Chinese version "give my brother/sister back", the VAs said "把我的哥哥/妹妹...(还给我)" literally means "give my brother/sister...(back)", they don't even have enough time to finish their line, which is more sad to me.
it's similar to the Japanese version of "give my brother/sister back". they didn't have the time to finish their lines, so it hangs in "my brother/sister!!" 『よくも俺の妹!!/よくも私のお兄ちゃんは!!』But it's sadder in Lumine's part, because while Aether seems to be stopping at "What about my sister!", Lumine's words were cut off more like; "My brother is-" ((I really love miHoYo's grief portrayal here))
It's really interesting that even though they're twins, aether is called older brother and lumine younger sister (in Chinese, Japanese and Korean). I think it's because in those languages, they specify age in siblings. There isn't a direct translation for just "sister" or "brother".
At least in Chinese when there are different sex twins male one will always be called older and female will always be called younger it's about hierarchy not age really.
@@papkinn I'm not sure about that actually; I've seen many twins where the sister is older than the brother, she's called 姐姐 and the brother's called 弟弟, translating to older sis and younger brother. So no, not hierarchy, at least from the examples I've encountered.
Interesting in the JPN version Lumine said "Oni-chan" and Aether said "Imouto" implying Aether is the older twin. Lumine also said "Oppa" in the Korean dub which is how females say older brother or address older males.
@@iamthethebeginningiamtheen9555 I think that's actually why they used the addresses in the first place. the original language was actually Chinese after all
I‘m choosing the Korean brother one even I don't know what they're saying, because I think that is suitable for music and RPG genre, also the brother sounds really like a ''young brother"(kinda cute). And other characters just sound "nature", Japanese voice just sounds kinda overexpression for me.
When lumine says "Don't go give my brother back" in EN her voice is breaking. You can feel her despair, sadness, fear in her voice. It's very beautiful 😍
These two characters have such good VAs in all languages...the game is so new, I hope we'll be hearing more of their voices as the story progresses. I'm super glad that the VAs from every country are really engaged with the community! I love hearing them sing song covers and interact with fans on livestreams.
Aether's Japanese VA sounds so good; actually sounds like it suits the character unlike the English one. I think both English and Japanese VA of Lumine sounds good too. UGH this game is marvelous!!!
I really like Lumine’s ENG voice line for, “Wait! Don’t go! Give my brother back!“ like that little choke at the end with her line makes it so emotional to me 😭 I also really like the performances of both CN voice actors for both of them (same line mentioned before) Aether sounds really panicked especially at the beginning and frustrated at the end, and Lumine sounds sad especially when her voices slightly fades out
1:52-1:56! Aoi Yuuki!! I saw this before I knew who Lumine’s VA was, but I immediately recognized Aoi Yuuki there... That’s how she sounds as Tachibana Hibiki (Symphogear)! I really like hearing them in their different voices, although I really like all versions of them. It’s hard to pick a favorite!
I'm biased, but I absolutely love the Chinese. Their voices are softer, and more subdued making them less annoying to listen to for long periods of time. Especially in the "Give my Sibling Back!" scene, the chinese lines are just so good... It directly translates to something along the lines of "Wait, don't go! Take my sibling..." (more colloquial English - "Wait, don't go! Give me my sibling...") and tapering off as if they lost hope. It leaves us hanging, expecting the MC to finish the sentence with "Wait, don't go! Take my sibling and give them back to me!" (Wait, don't go! Give me my sibling back!). Instead of finishing, it tapers of and leaves you hanging. Hits right into the kokoro :') I also think that ENG Lumine and JPN Aether was good. The Korean VAs did a good job, but it felt a little rushed and the emotional beats didn't hit right (not used to listening to the language I guess). ENG Aether was a little too anime Shonen protag and JPN Lumine was a little shrill. Despite my personal opinions, all the VAs did a wonderful job and we should celebrate their hard work! (Still gonna say CN was the best, probably the "ideal"/"original" casting, eh. We all have differing opinions :D)
okay, is it only me who liking korean dub? especially I like smooth voice from aether's. I already set it from the beginning I play genshin. Other character are have nice voice too. And I don't feels it was awkward at all…
Many people saying that Chinese voice sounds way too calm, and that's true! In Chinese language, one wouldn't reveal too much emotion in their tones. You have to read context (or understand the sentence), to tell what emotion one is having right now. Normally all the emotions you can sound out of a Chinese sentence is like: calm calm calm, if you don't know the meaning. I think except for being happy, all other emotions are presented in calm tones in Chinese sentences. Normal sentence without emotion: sounds calm. Feeling sad: sounds calm. Feeling angry: sounds calm. (that's a disaster for those who can't realize) Feeling nervous: sounds calm. Feeling scared: sounds calm. I'll make an easy example: A Chinese person (calmly) says "I haven't had lunch yet." Normally: "I'm hungry." sadly: "I have no money to buy food." Angrily: "How dare you eat without me." Nervously: "I'm late for train." Scared: "Mom doesn't allow me to eat." So how on earth can you find out their emotion? Only with context. If you reveal an extreme obvious emotional tone (as a Chinese), people would think that you are pretending and performing, they in turns can't tell what your real emotion is when you are speaking this way. That's also why Chinese merchants in the street like to shout out loud about their product. When you are shouting that way, you do not have any specific emotion, and people automatically know that you are selling things. But nowadays people are getting more casual with their speaking method. As you have read, what I mentioned above is very tiring and stressful social ability. One could easily offend another when they are not trained enough to tell others' emotion. Instead of just changing your tone to express emotion, Chinese prefer to change their body language, or change grammar suddenly, to express their feeling. From my experince I can tell some difference when Chinese people speak: (but please figure out the context) If they are not looking at you when speaking: might feel sad. If their body become stiff: might feel angry. If they are not answering your question or give unralevant answer: might feel nervous. If they are looking at you when speaking: normal way / might feel scared. That's probably why you need to "look at them" when speaking to Chinese. If you don't do so, you are in danger of accidentally hurting someon's feeling or offending them.
''等等!别走!把我的妹妹-'' I resonate more with the Chinese.. Edit: im gonna wait until they add all language voice over for Aether and Paimon in the Voice over section..
Is it just me, or does the VA for Aether sound kinda like Deku or Adrien from Miraculous? Edit: after the update they finally revealed his VA who's Zach Aguilar who also voices Koichi from JJBA and Genos from One Punch Man
I really like Aether's English dub. I don't why, I usually don't like English dubs all that much cuz they sound kinda weird but man Aether's is really good. Makes me wanna give him a warm hug
Now looking at this, going by the logic that the Mandarin is the most definite language, Aether's English VA sounds the closest to the original compared to the higher pitched voices in JP and KR
The English dub really stands out to me, in a posigive way because it makes the main characters feel unique and very distinct from the entire cast. When I go into JP or CN I usually get lost and can't really tell apart the main characters from the others. My only thing is that male mc sounds a little too old but overall I prefer the english dub.

I thought I was the only one xD
@@niantica1869 Yep Zach Aguilar

OMG I THOUGHT IT WAS JUSTIN BRINER TOO NGL
You can at least finally listen to their voices in their profile. Paimon talks too as well!
1:08
At this scene, it sounds like they're trying to reach out for each other while something is pulling them apart and farther from each other.
Chinese all the way, it sounds soothing and breeze.
its cute and wholesome all the way, i can confirm because i used it since day 1
but then if you like more emotion definitely go for japanese, english for maturity¿
@@chan9982
I think english and korean expresses more the maturity of the characters than Japanese tho
Mi ho yo is Chinese so the Chinese voices would be the backbone for the rest of the languages
No, Chinese always sound worse than jp / english. I'm chinese btw.
Wait, this video got me wondering... what exactly was the traveler doing 2 months ago before they met Paimon?
What I found out through all these comparison videos is that all the Chinese VAs are SERIOUSLY underrated despite being the original voices and, in my opinion, the best voices for each character. Oh yeah and also a lot of people assume this was a Japanese game lol
It's sad that most of the fanbase leans toward Lumine, Aether's voice is really good
well both of their va did an incredible job at giving the mc their characters
aether's voice seems like he's still grieving and sad
whilst lumine voice seems like she already pass most of the grieving part, and much more determine to find out what happen to her brother
Because most players are male and pick the waifu option, I personally chose Aether though and Zach does a great job as the English VA
Aether's voice was kinda Lacking some emotions, but his voice is still really good tho
Aether is canon character.
@@justanordinaryguy._.7399 what do you mean?? Aether is a character we all know that ;-;
Lumine's English voice is full of emotions tbh and it's my favorite
in Chinese voice,Paimon's voice actor is 多多poi, who also gives voice to the Honkai Impact character Rozaliya·Olenyeva.
And heroine's actor is 宴宁,who gives voice to Liliya·Olenyeva, the sister of Rozalita.
So If you chose the heroine, it's not Genshi Impact, it will be VODKA Girls' journey.
Fun fact: Chinese version "give my brother/sister back", the VAs said "把我的哥哥/妹妹...(还给我)" literally means "give my brother/sister...(back)", they don't even have enough time to finish their line, which is more sad to me.
At first I thought it sounded strange but in this context it makes sad
it's similar to the Japanese version of "give my brother/sister back".
they didn't have the time to finish their lines, so it hangs in "my brother/sister!!" 『よくも俺の妹!!/よくも私のお兄ちゃんは!!』But it's sadder in Lumine's part, because while Aether seems to be stopping at "What about my sister!", Lumine's words were cut off more like; "My brother is-"
((I really love miHoYo's grief portrayal here))
It's really interesting that even though they're twins, aether is called older brother and lumine younger sister (in Chinese, Japanese and Korean). I think it's because in those languages, they specify age in siblings. There isn't a direct translation for just "sister" or "brother".
At least in Chinese when there are different sex twins male one will always be called older and female will always be called younger it's about hierarchy not age really.
I mean, there is a thing called the "elder twin" or something.
@@papkinn I dunno man seems like they’ll get elder or younger depending on who gets out first
@@papkinn I'm not sure about that actually; I've seen many twins where the sister is older than the brother, she's called 姐姐 and the brother's called 弟弟, translating to older sis and younger brother. So no, not hierarchy, at least from the examples I've encountered.
Pumpkin Not correct.
Aether’s english voice is like the default male anime protagonist voice ever. Its not bad but its so default like.
Well he does voice Tanjiro as well, I like the voice personally
me too
When lumine says "Don't go give my brother back" in EN her voice is breaking.
Lumine english voice gets more desperate feelings at the end of prologue.. which is awesome!!
Chinese also great!
Lumine's english voice is really good tho, like, when she gets trapped her voice cracks a little it sounds so real-
Big respect for lumine's eng va at that "give my brother back" part. It sounds so realistic im heartbroken-
2:02 I'VE BEEN ON CN DUB SINCE I STARTED PLAYING MONTHS AGO BUT I NEVER REALIZED HOW EMOTIONAL AETHER SOUNDED LIKE WHEN LUMINE WAS TAKEN AWAY !?!?!
AETHER’S JAPANESE VOICE IS SOOOO GOOD
YEEEEEEEEEEE
Yesss!
he sounds so soft, love him sm

Aether's Japanese VA sounds so good; actually sounds like it suits the character unlike the English one. I think both English and Japanese VA of Lumine sounds good too. UGH this game is marvelous!!!
I really like Lumine’s ENG voice line for, “Wait! Don’t go! Give my brother back!“ like that little choke at the end with her line makes it so emotional to me 😭 I also really like the performances of both CN voice actors for both of them (same line mentioned before) Aether sounds really panicked especially at the beginning and frustrated at the end, and Lumine sounds sad especially when her voices slightly fades out
wait aether’s korean voice is epic-
Hits right into the kokoro :')
I also think that ENG Lumine and JPN Aether was good.
Yeah how CN Lumines voice tapered off when said 'give my brother' was really good

(that's a disaster for those who can't realize)
Feeling nervous: sounds calm.
Feeling scared: sounds calm.
I'll make an easy example:
A Chinese person (calmly) says
"I haven't had lunch yet."
Normally: "I'm hungry."
sadly: "I have no money to buy food."
Angrily: "How dare you eat without me."
Nervously: "I'm late for train."
Scared: "Mom doesn't allow me to eat."
So how on earth can you find out their emotion?
From my experince I can tell some difference when Chinese people speak:
(but please figure out the context)
If they are not looking at you when speaking: might feel sad.
I really don't this has to do with Chinese tones or culture. It has more to do with the way mandarin sounds as well as the vocal delivery.
lumine eng voice is so gooood like her voice shows the emotions
''等等!别走!把我的妹妹-''
I resonate more with the Chinese..
Edit: im gonna wait until they add all language voice over for Aether and Paimon in the Voice over section..
Lumine's eng voice actor was gold.

Oh no
Y'know you should update this because they now have voice lines when talking to Paimon in the character menu.
Is it just me, or does the VA for Aether sound kinda like Deku or Adrien from Miraculous?
Edit: after the update they finally revealed his VA who's Zach Aguilar who also voices Koichi from JJBA and Genos from One Punch Man
It's just you
Same here. I think it's the same voice actor who played Izuku.

I really like Aether's English dub. I don't why, I usually don't like English dubs all that much cuz they sound kinda weird but man Aether's is really good. Makes me wanna give him a warm hug
The only scene that the MC spoke.
Oh, and also the senyora scene
Other languages: No Korea, you have to say Give my brother/sister back!
Korean: Hehe, translations go brrrrrr
Korean just says 'NO'
Now i want to hear the MC talk in the end of the new story for 1.1
Now looking at this, going by the logic that the Mandarin is the most definite language, Aether's English VA sounds the closest to the original compared to the higher pitched voices in JP and KR
What? Not at all
진짜 아이테르는 한국어가 찰떡인거 같음...
The English dub really stands out to me, in a posigive way because it makes the main characters feel unique and very distinct from the entire cast. When I go into JP or CN I usually get lost and can't really tell apart the main characters from the others. My only thing is that male mc sounds a little too old but overall I prefer the english dub.
i usually go with japanese voiceovers for anime/games but i love the eng dub of genshin so much
I was wondering why i cant remember this. Then i remembered my computer would hang through any cut scene lol
